Once you have the parts you need to remove the controller. 2 screws under the lid of the pellet hopper, and 7 for the pannel under the pellet hopper to access the cables.
disconnect the cables at the bottom of the grill and dont forget to remove the ground. youll need a socket. cant remember what size
once you have the the controller on your workbench remove the 4 philips screws holding the outer case. right away youll see the stupid engineering from camp chef putting a wifi antenna inside a fucking box. (im in avionics and deal with RF. this is stupid. there's no way about it. god awful engineering decision)
take a knife and gently cut away the white shit behind the antenna. i just cut enough to allow me to pry that hunk of crap off and access the two screws hiding behind it. Disconnect the antenna and set it aside (or throw it in the garbage where it belongs)
remove the 4 screws holding the cct board in place and feed your six inch cable into the case.
connect the new rf adapter where you removed the stupid antenna that used to be there. I fed it througn the grommet on the left side of the box and it was the perfect length
using the provided female to female adapter with your new antenna, attach your antenna and install everything back in the grill feeding the wire down with the other wires in the grill.
once you've tested your RSSI in the troubleshooting menu, disconnect everything again and mount the antenna where ever you see fit making sure you use the included rubber grommet to keep its waterproofing.
enjoy your pellet grill with a wifi connection that isnt fucking trash
