I have both the metal-looking loops and the silicone loops. I like them better than over-the-ear ear-defenders and foam earplugs, because both of those options hurt my ears pretty quickly. Loops do not block as much noise as 3M ear muffs, for example. We have some of those. The earmuffs (we have these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017YLTAI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) block way more noise, but they are far harder on my ears and head. They hurt me.
For the most part, I far, far prefer Loops. Loops are the first earplugs I've ever been able to sleep in (the silicone ones) and I can use them for hours with zero issues, if I want to. I can't make it an hour with any of the other options.
When I first got my loops, they really just seem like someone took some earbuds, cut the wires, and put a loop on them and I was pissed and worried they were a scam. They block enough noise for me for them to be worth it and my autistic 9-year-old also loves them.
So, I think it really depends on how much noise blocking you need. If you have proper, over-the-ear ear defenders and could not tolerate less noise protection than those offer, then you probably won't like Loops.
Probably easier to sleep in gym, use earmuffs or earplugs and an eye mask and planet fitness.
I have these. 3M Peltor Optime 98 Earmuff https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017YLTAI/ref=cm_sw_r_apanp_CikCspMliwjQj
If you must sleep in car, it is pretty easy to remove back seat bottom so the surface is flatter.
Happens to me too and it gets worse the older i get. I used to be able to spend half a day in our server room. It's better with a couple of these bad boys: https://www.amazon.com/-/de/dp/B0017YLTAI/
I still get dizzy when doing anything for longer than 2 or 3 hours. So i try to avoid that or take breaks.
>noise cancellation headphones
Are not always effective. In my second job I was seated behind this monstrosity of a pig who would spend all day gossipping as loud as she could (but became whisper quiet if it was something really juicy)
I could not get my work done and my boss was useless in making any meaningful changes so I bought some 100$ sennheiser active noise cancelling headphones.
It is pretty cool how they worked but they couldn't even silence that pig. They did definitely reduce the volume but not enough that it removed her voice completely.
I ended up buying these noise protection earmuffs
They seemed to reduce her voice by a significant margin so I could finally get my work done.
Unfortunately they are a bit tight so when I occasionally wear glasses, they start to hurt my head after a while because these earmuffs really push hard against your head.

Get a pair of construction headphones, and slip the heads of cheap earbuds into them while they're plugged into an iPod. Works for me, low budget.
Been shooting rifles a bit more, it's been difficult achieving good cheek weld with my earmuffs. What to do besides switching to ear buds?
ear plugs AND 3m earmuffs. use both.

I wear these every shift and nobody has told me I can't.

Maybe these earmuffs for studying. i don’t really use them anymore, but used to a lot.
I would recommend a decent set of sound suppressing ear muffs: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017YLTAI/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_73O7CbXM8G03V believe me, you'll need them!!
3M Peltors and just recently acquired the active version... Haven't tried it at the range yet.
If you're reading the book, then I recommend buying noise cancelling ear muffs so that you can fully concentrate on the book. Highlight parts that you like, and take notes.
If you're listening to audiobooks, record the parts that you like such as end of chapter summaries and compile all the recordings at the end.
Cheers!
