Pneumatic tires are air filled tires like on a bike or car. You don't feel any bumps on the road with them and they grip the road like crazy. Your shoes are more likely to slip on the deck than the wheels where I can break free pretty easily with the urethane skate wheels. Boosted only offers the urethane wheels.
I think any shoe you feel comfortable in will work fine. The grip tape against any rubber sole provides plenty of friction to stay on the board even on pretty mean carves.
