Ive had my roots out of the water for 2-3 hrs during a few rez changes due to upgrades w/o issues, aslong as the roots werent crunchy dry, they should bounce back, but it may stunt them a bit.
The net pots I use clip onto the bucket much like the lid does, and they are a ton more sturdier than having to cut out a standard lid to fit an insert. I was able to pick mine up at my local gardening store in the hydroponics section or amazon.

Hope you make it to harvest duder, good luck out there.
Yeah. Seen that one. (On Amazon? Major Tom certainly doesn't mind selling his Space Cadets what they want)
I most very probably would. If I were planning on forming some Connaught Cartel. I mean, Four bushes? Not sure I'd live long enough to get through That much! Does look what we want though.
No response from that shop yet. Early days though. It was Friday afters.
Was eyeballing these, last night. On Amazon, from Hydrofarm. 6 in. Wide Lip Bucket Basket. Clicky. 'Not Available'. Not to me, anyway. Bastards.
God knows what Plan E's gonna be!
I built mine with a 5 gallon home depot bucket and a lid like this one,
All the other stuff like air pumps, air stones, and hydroton are up to personal preference for the most part. Making it yourself will be cheaper in the long run. I made mine for less than $50. But I'm using one bucket so I didn't need a high capacity pump.
Also important: I bought 1.5 inch rockwool cubes but you can got bigger if you want.
Hydrogaurd or something similar would be good and almost necessary.
The net pot i use is an entire lid that sits on top of a 5 gallon bucket. The seed is stable inside. You don’t have to worry about bumping it or anything. (At least i haven’t had any issues with the seed falling lower into the water in my experience)
6 in. Wide Lip Bucket Basket - Round Plant Container with Mesh Bottom - Hydrofarm HG6RDBK https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0049XIIGC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_Z56SFCV4ZJT140HTSN2Z
They make 6" net pots with built-in lids designed specifically for 5-gallon buckets. You should check your size and see if these could fit, they are convenient. For instance.
Proper trimming and branch management...grow it upwards not outwards
Look into a DWC bucket system, they make 5 gal bucket lids that are hydroponic planters...Found on Amazon. Some even have a built in tomato / pepper cage that's about 3 ft tall.
Just need a power source for an aquarium air/bubble pump and some sun or T5 lamps. Even an Apt balcony works
here's a link to the overall DWC system (Deep Water Culture)
How many plants are you growing? You could save some money by making your own DWC buckets. The only thing that is nice about that dwc kit is the top feed, but you don't really need it.
If you set up the buckets right the bubbles will pop and splash on the net pots, and wick up into the media. The roots will seek out the water and grow down.
Realistically you can fit 3 plants in that size tent.
3 x Hydrofarm DIY buckets at $4.48
3x 6" net pot lid at $6.00
3x medium air stone at $5.04
1x Hydrofarm 4 outlet air pump at 23.49
1x 5 pack 1/2 in UNISEAL at 8.95
5 feet of blue vinyl tubing at .41 per foot
3x 1/2" barbed elbow at $6.95
1x 25' clear air tubing at 14.99
Add that all together and you get: 116.89
The blue tubing, elbows, and UNISEALs are for making a water level indicator which is nice but not necessary. If you skip that the cost comes down to 85.04
I found them on Amazon at 99 each but they also come with a 20 some dollar shipping charge. Ordering all of these parts separately will likely cost you less in shipping as well.
Buying an extra bucket is a good idea too. When I used single DWC buckets I kept a spare bucket around to put the plants in as I changed the rez.
Assembling these buckets is super easy too. The ones I linked are designed to be used for DWC and have cutouts to run the air hoses into the bucket. The only tools you would need are a drill, a 1/2" drill bit and a pair of scissors. The buckets have a flat edge on them so that your UNISEAL can make a good connection.
You could take the money you save here and buy a better light. Maybe a quantum board like this?
5 gallon bucket
Rockwool for the seed.
And air line tubing as well as air stones
Fox farm nutes lol
I dont recconend hydro if you suck at keeping plants alive dude. Buy any 5 gallon bucket plus the following...
Net Pot:
Air Pump
Air stones
Air hose
And then buy some hydroton or some other medium, maybe rapid rooters or some rockwool cubes to sprout in. Set up is very cheap and easy.
