Get the 8BitDo SN30 Pro Plus. Easily my favorite controller, and it's cheaper than the Nintendo Pro Controller. I think the only thing the Pro has over it is HD Rumble and you can't wake the Switch from sleep with the 8BitDo.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_CF.3FbJ2XB9BC
I would just pay an extra $4 and get the Pro+. In my opinion it is much better. 8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+
I had so much frustration with trying to get a number of different controllers to pair including the PS4. Ended up buying an 8bitdo controller. It worked flawlessly and it’s really good build quality.
8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ Bluetooth Gamepad (Sn Edition) - Nintendo Switch https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_uJHxFbQA86F5E
Just got this controller and it's great. The rumble feedback is very strong though.
SN30 Pro Plus is the best controller for Tetris 99.
Cheers man! Uuh I love people asking on my controller I swear by it! I got mine of amazon for $49.99 dude, 8BitDo SN30pro+, mine is the gameboy colors variant, I believe there is a black and the super nintendo colors, wireless and battery life lasts me a full day! 10/10 best controller on the market for swtich if you ask me. I personally was looking for joysticks parallel and as close to a PlayStation controller as possible, this one was the best one I found out there.
I bought this one. Works great. Build quality is superb. Has a turbo function per button. And saved me hours of frustration with other Bluetooth controllers.
8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ Bluetooth Gamepad (Sn Edition) - Nintendo Switch https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_FmuyFb2P7MK1J
I use 8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+.
I have no issue with it at all. That said, if you go with this option make certain you update the firmware (I want to say at the time I made my Pi, the auto-firmware-updater wasn't using the latest version or something weird. I forced it into a newer version).
Getting it to pair properly just required following a guide. It worked the first time for me.
Updating the firmware, using the guide and overlocking the Pi and I have no issues with input for framerate issues (I don't play anything more advanced than PSOne games).
If I had to do it again, I'd still go with the 8Bito Sn30 Pro+. Although I do like PS4 controllers as well (but never tried to pair one).
Works natively with the switch too so you do not need an extra dongle or Bluetooth adapter.
Nintendo official pro controller hasn't degraded in performance even slightly in 3+ years of use, 3 thousand hours on smash. Has been dropped a million times and is fine. Bought a second one just for the fuck of it and it works perfectly as well.
PoweaA shit sucks. I have 4 broken GameCube controllers from them. They will replace your stuff for you for free though, so eventually you can create 1 super controller from all the broken ones
8bitdo products have treated me pretty well. Only problem is, they are hard as fuck to fix. The connection strips they use are so fragile. Best part is that they can connect to your phone and PC so you can play pirated video games on a controller. This one is basically a pro controller. I have had 2 of the SNES styled ones (basically the one I linked minus the handles) and they work great. Customer support is shitty though, they'll just link you the site for parts and tell you to fix it yourself. The SNES style one also has the best dpad ever made. Small issue for smash, the shoulder bumpers aren't that big, but I've never had any problem with them. Also they have a turbo function? It's a pretty bad one and you have to set it up in a weird way, but if someone knows that it has the function, you might not be able to take it to tournaments. But I'm pretty sure they operate on honor rules so you're probably fine
The answer is to stop using the Pro Controller and it's awful d-pad.
Get an SN30 Pro+.
Ah, so you're saying this is not a dual shock / x box game pads type controller? (it pairs and identifies as a dual shock controller)
https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Sn30-Pro-Bluetooth-Gamepad-mac/dp/B07T8JKVNT/
Can you explain the difference to me? This is the only controller I've had and I love it, so I've not checked into others.
How about the 8bitdo sn30 pro+? it's actually about $10 cheaper than an Xbox controller here, and the clip is the same price
Yeah, I got this controller for my phone, pc, and switch.
While the Pro controller is great, I haven't used mine since I got an 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ . Considering the price of the Pro controller, too, I would recommend this thing all day long.
Works perfectly, nice to hold and use, plus it has turbo functionality. Only thing it can't do is scan amiibos but how often do you need to do that, really?
8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ Bluetooth Controller Wireless Gamepad for Switch, PC, macOS, Android, Steam and Raspberry Pi (SN Edition) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_dl_Y231SYFD92WVGDY1RHHY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You can get this or the newer updated pro 2 version. More or less the same play station layout on both though.
I absolutely love mine and it’s the only time I’ve had a third-party controller feel genuinely better than the first-party one
Picture of the controller I got: Amazon.com: 8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ Bluetooth Gamepad (Sn Edition) - Nintendo Switch: Video Games
I also got an issue where I can only sync when the usb cable is hook in. I Don't know if I got an issue on PC. I thought it was because I didn't update it. I still have a problem. Also I thought the battery low but the red light to show its charging is just doing that forever. So do I have a battery problem?
If you're interested I have an 8bitdo SN30+ that works for the switch, its also wireless and comes with a rechargeable battery (You can also remove it and use AA batteries if you want)
I have the adapter as well, though do not have a ps3 controller to use with it. From all the research prior to buying, most seemed to say the ps3 controller was the way to go for a wireless ps2 solution as it would still have the same pressure sensitive buttons. I just never found a decent deal at the time for a ps3 controller and really wanted a new one rather than a used one.
Personally, I use this controller and it syncs fine in nintendo switch mode, though it doesn't have the sensitive buttons. It also connects to the adapter over usb cable perfectly fine too. I've also used XBOX 1 controllers without issue.
I have this and the non-plus model, can't recommend them enough. They work great with PC & steam link too, so I use it for both PC gaming and switch gaming.
Get a can of WD-40, gently lift the flap of the left joycon and blow some under the flap. Then recalibrate the joycons. May work as a workaround for some time. Get a 3rd party controller, I have a 8Bitdo SN30 Pro+, wireless, rechargeable battery, works on PC too, pretty good.
https://www.amazon.in/8Bitdo-Sn30-Pro-Bluetooth-Gamepad/dp/B07T8JKVNT/
I have one of these hooked up to my RetroPi4.
It's great. Works with the built in Bluetooth (required a bit of setup).
Make certain you overclock the system a bit if you are going for PSOne or higher games though.
i've bought this one: https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B07T8JKVNT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 it's not compatible with genshin on android yet but boy as a pc/switch controller is top tier on part with original xbox and playstation ones and for 1/3 less of the price. highly recomanded.
General consensus is that most third party GCC are not worth it for competitive smash.
My experience with Cipon is that they look in photo but they feel like garbage. Especially if you already used or tired an OG controller. Bad sticks, funky shoulder and z button, oddly clicky face buttons, etc.
Sadly there isn't really any cheap AND good alternatives but here is a couple recommendations.
I've really enjoyed this guy paired with my PC.
USB-C charging cable, comes with an easily replaceable rechargeable battery, solid feel to it with less instances of back flip syndrome... but that's just like... my opinion.
Comes in a few different color varieties. I got the SNES one, with two indented buttons which I thought I wouldn't like, but has really grown on me.
Limited Deals expires just before midnight PST
>How do I sync it to my switch or different switches?
Easiest way is to plug it into the dock, it'll sync to whatever Switch is currently in the dock. You can also sync it wirelessly by pressing the sync button on the top and opening 'Change Grip\Order' in controllers.
>How do I charge it?
Charges through a USB C cable which is included in the box.
>Are there any first party layouts that aren't the default black?
There are special edition Pro controllers but they're very expensive. There's a Xenoblade one and a Super Smash Bros one.
If you want to change the look of an Pro controller Dbrand offers skins and there are shell replacements you can buy on Amazon.
>How bad is the performance difference between the nicer skinned 3rd parties and Nintendo's first party ugly black?
Most other controllers are significantly worse feeling than a Pro controller. The exception being the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+. It comes in SNES theme, Gameboy theme and black. The D-Pad is also significantly better than the Pro, the SNES themed on has a Dpad that's practically indistinguishable from an actual SNES Dpad.. The trade off is that you can't turn on the system with the home button like you can with the Pro or Joycons, it doesn't have an NFC reader for Amiibo and it has regular rumble instead of HD Rumble.
>Do the SNES controllers announced on the recent Nintendo Direct count as pro-controllers for other games, or are they specifically made for SNES Online?
They will be usable for other games outside of SNES online, as long as they have the buttons required to play the game.
>Are they available now at retail or are they shipping out at a later date?
Later date, exact date unknown.
The bot is looking at the reviews as a whole. While it's a good product (can confirm, I have two), that doesn't preclude the reviews from being farmed or otherwise manipulated.
Edit: this is a different listing than the official 8bitdo product page, which has thousands of reviews. It's probably the same product. Probably.
The 8BitDo SN30 pro+ is fantastic. Its build feels as high quality as any first party controller, and I imagine most fans of this genre would appreciate the controller's d-pad shape and position.
My favourite feature is actually how easily it switches between platforms. Hold start and Y to turn it on in Switch mode, hold start and X to turn it on in Windows mode. I have it paired to both platforms at all times and effortlessly switch between the two. It's incredible.
I recently got an 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ and got the phone clip with it. My Pixel 3a XL fits in it perfectly and I have never worried about it falling out. I love it.
Hmm I checked apparently that drifts too here buy this instead
No one has reported drift and it shouldn’t and even if it does it’s much cheaper
Same deal on Amazon if you prefer (says for Switch) https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Sn30-Pro-Bluetooth-Gamepad-mac/dp/B07T8JKVNT/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=sn%2Bpro%2B30%2Bplus&qid=1587908035&sprefix=sn%2Bpro&sr=8-5&th=1&psc=1
I have two Pro controllers. Both of them drift. One of them is getting pretty nasty, too. I'd send them in for repairs, but... well, can't.
As a possible alternative, you might consider the 8BitDo SN30 Pro+, which is currently on sale on Amazon. I haven't tried it yet, but reviews frequently say it's the best third-party controller.
Maybe a bluetooth controller? I highly reccomend an 8bitdo SN30 Pro+. I actually got one for my brother for christmas this year because I love mine so much. Also it comes in 3 flavors.
8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ Bluetooth Gamepad (Sn Edition) - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_9po-Db7H5T3GQ
And for clarifications sake, yes it works with Steam. And his smartphone.
I think ds4s are only supposed to work correctly with xperia devices. Unless things have changed in the past few years all solutions require some form of root.
I have an alternative solution tho. Instead of the ds4 why not check out 8bitdo's sn30 pro plus. Mine should be arriving tomorrow, but the one review i read makes it seem as great as i hoped. its more similar to a ds4 then an xbox controller, it supports android over bluetooth, and you can charge it with usb c instead of that god aweful micro usb port the ds4 has. Also based on pictures its got a mount for phone but idk if that comes with it.
At the risk of sounding like a corporate flunky, there is a $50 option: https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Sn30-Pro-Bluetooth-Gamepad-Sn/dp/B07T8JKVNT
8 bitdo sn30 pro plus, it says in the description that it's compatible with windows 7 and works well on switch. The only downside is that it can't wake the switch up from sleep.
8bitdo SN 30 Pro Plus is a terrific choice: Amazon Link
This is the controller I have (well, I have several, but this is the one I choose to use whenever I can). I recommend it to anyone who'll listen. There's a new version of it out with some extra features that is even better.
Hi Scion, nothing this time around. To answer your question, it is this model: https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Sn30-Pro-Bluetooth-Gamepad-mac/dp/B07T8JKVNT
8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT
8Bitdo Sn30 is the bee's knees.
At that price just buy an 8bitdo. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_bw5EFbM9Z06FV
Edit: now that I remember the 8bitdo is good for more than the switch too. Works in mobile and pc so more compatability for the same price.
For the exact same price you could get this sexy thing which not only isn't ugly, but also has PS4 support.
A new first-party Xbone controller is only $10 more.
Given those prices, adding an extra $20 on for controllers with less traditional builds like Joycons or the one in OP's photo doesn't seem too unreasonable.
You live in the US?
Amazon has it in stock for the Sn edition of it. But it is through a 3rd party Amazon associate.

My go-to for any game that operates in 2D like Tetris or NES/SNES is the Sn30 Pro+
no, i use this.
8bitdo SN30Pro Plus with the official phone mount. I love mine
It also works great as a Switch Pro controller, be it on Switch or PC (it has both xInput and Pro Controller modes built in)
https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Sn30-Pro-Bluetooth-Gamepad-mac/dp/B07T8JKVNT/
https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Smartphone-Bluetooth-Gamepad-Black-pc/dp/B07VGHS48G
You can also get the Pro 2 (it has physical mode switch instead of a key combo) but I can't find a phone clip for it on Amazon
I use the 8Bitdo Sn30 Pro + and Savorware Wireless Pro and both have motion controls.
this guy? $63 on Amazon Canada, plus $14 for the phone clip looks like it has great reviews
Chances are you have a defective unit, since I have the pro+ and it works fine, assuming it has the same internals as the pro. Unless you really prefer the handle-less design of the pro, if you can, I'd recommend returning it and getting the pro+ (roughly the same price rn) or the pro 2 (5 usd more).
Pro controller is terrible for any 2D game due to its amateur quality D-pad.
Get an 8BitDo SN30Pro+ for T99.
>8bitdo sn30 plus controller (Looks sexy as hell but again, almost impossible to find and extremely expensive with a +200$ price tag)
I'm not sure what that is, or if you left out the word PRO by accident or if that's some rare controller.
But my recommendation is the 8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ and is under $50 at Amazon https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Sn30-Pro-Bluetooth-Gamepad-mac/dp/B07T8JKVNT
Do you need the extra features of the Nacon controller? Because it's quite expensive...
I'd suggest a third good option that doesn't cost much: https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Sn30-Pro-Bluetooth-Gamepad-mac/dp/B07T8JKVNT/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=SN30+Pro&qid=1618411524&sr=8-3
That's their official site, but I order their stuff from Amazon.
I have 3 of the SN30 Pro+ controllers and love them:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT
There's also the Pro 2 coming out soon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08XY8H9D5
Which is the same but has 2 buttons on the back for extra inputs.
I also have one of the non "plus" models:
https://www.8bitdo.com/sn30-pro-g-classic-or-sn30-pro-sn/
And while the overall functionality is great, I didn't care for the formfactor. Not having the "arms" at the bottom just doesn't feel right to me.
It sounds like your controller is a bit faulty, has some problems, this is not normal. For example I've used an Xbox One wireless controller on PC and never had any problem like that.
If you'd like to pay less than what an Xbox controller costs I suggest this, I've been using this for a while and works perfectly, comes with a rechargeable battery too (on Xbox controllers you have to buy that separately) but works only via Bluetooth so your PC needs to have Bluetooth for this to work (well, that's true also for the Xbox official controller, that works with Bluetooth only too): https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Sn30-Pro-Bluetooth-Gamepad-mac/dp/B07T8JKVNT/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=8BitDo+SN30&qid=1617465071&sr=8-3
This controller is available in various colors and works on various platforms, PC too, and has a software for remapping the buttons if you want to.
The 8bitdo SN30 Pro Plus and Pro Plus 2 can have mapped turbo functions and macros via the Ultimate software (PC required)
https://www.amazon.nl/-/en/dp/B07T8JKVNT/
they make some of the best third party controllers that you can use on Switch.
https://www.amazon.ca/8Bitdo-Sn30-Pro-Bluetooth-Gamepad/dp/B07T8JKVNT
This is a superior switch controller to anything released by Nintendo.
I use the 8bitdo pro+. It works with windows, Apple, and switch
Limited-time deal: 8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ Bluetooth Gamepad (Sn Edition) - Nintendo Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_dlT1_V7VXDWKZ6XYBH90YMR3Z
If you’re purchasing a new controller, I really like the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+. It has a really nice dpad for retro games and sticks and triggers for modern titles.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_hbp6FbRPPSXFJ

I use the 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ controllers. I'd recommend that or the N30 Pro 2
they did release the pro+, you can get them on Amazon. I just bought one a couple days ago.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_9kTuDbKTT3JXV
The Actual bitdo entry is set to go on sale at 9am or so tomorrow.
You can also use this controller, it works for any device incase you get a switch or any thing else
Although I'm not sure if it works with Roblox, so you should probably research, if you also have a pc you can change the configure the controller layout to what your niece prefers.
8bitdo SN 30 Pro+ is a solid controller for both systems. Also If you like to play 2d games it has a fantastic dpad.
The Pro+ model has an Xinput mode, along with Switch and some others. I haven't tried it on a Windows PC, but it worked well on a Raspberry Pi, and I use it all the time on my Switch. It's a great controller IMO https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Sn30-Pro-Bluetooth-Gamepad-mac/dp/B07T8JKVNT?th=1
You could also go for something like this, though I haven't tried it myself I know it's been a popular option in the past https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-940-000110-Gamepad-F310/dp/B003VAHYQY
Note, I don't think either work on an Xbox console, but you mentioned PC games so I'm assuming that's what you need.
8BitDo is defiantly a great brand for controllers. Though you could spend just a little more and get the SN30 Pro+ . It has grips, so it’s a lot more comfortable to hold.
Nintendo made some wireless SNES controllers for the Switch that are worth looking into. They’re $30, but they are sold out right now
If you’re just wanting a controller with a good d-pad for SNES games then 8BitDo also has the regular SN30 for $30
I absolutely love my 8Bitdo SN30 Pro+ for use with my pi (and also literally everything else I want to use a controller for). I feel like I'm shilling a bit right now, but go check out their site, they've got lots of great retro-style bluetooth controllers.
Otherwise, check out the controllers section of the RetroPie Docs. Here's the PS4 controller section since I can't link to the overall controllers section. Typically, you can connect any kind of bluetooth controller with no hassle, but this section shows how to connect many other controllers.
And if you end up really needing a wired controller and are worried about wire length, female-male usb cables (essentially usb extension cords) aren't exactly expensive.
Deal link: Amazon
^^Note: ^^The ^^deal ^^may ^^have ^^expired ^^by ^^the ^^time ^^you ^^see ^^this ^^post.
>cheap
>wireless
You get one or the other.
The only third party wireless options worth recommending all start at $50. Wired controllers can go as low as $20.
Some people have luck with the Chinese knock offs amazon is peddling constantly, but I personally would never recommend any of them, just due to the amount of DOA devices that get sent out. And dont even think about repairs or support, theyre so cheap some of the companies will just send out whole new devices if you rate them highly enough.
Don't Rook too long, these prices might not last.

fwiw, the link to the prime deal version (for the pro+) isn't the same as the link/product page from 8bitdo's website (when you click their "order on Amazon" button), which takes you here:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT main difference seems to be Runsnail is the seller in the "deal" version.
It’s your controller. I had the same issue with a Nintendo brand controller- I bought a 8bitdo controller and it works perfectly. 8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ Bluetooth... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The MK8 bundle comes with a V1 Switch + MK8, and thus basically saves you $60 versus getting a V2 + MK8. It's a value proposition. How much is better internal battery life worth to you? If you truly intend to keep it docked and/or in the car, I think you could easily work around the V1's limitations. Car power, battery banks, etc.. Easily fixed. However, if you get the V2, you keep the door open for some more options. Maybe you end up getting a Switch per kid because they really want their own and the ability to go mobile...if you went with the V2, then your initial purchase is a healthy participant in that possible outcome. If you saved $60 and got the V1, then whoever gets the V1 will have to accommodate its shorter battery life.
Still, for now, it's primarily docked...so for now, it really doesn't matter which model you have (V1 or V2). Let's focus on controllers! The Pro Controller is a great controller. Make sure you get an "E" unit.. This article explains what I'm talking about (at the time of the article, D was the latest...now we're up to E). There's some debate about what these letters mean, and not all countries use these identifiers (USA does), but one thing is for certain: ones labeled "E" were at the very least put into boxes more recently than prior letters. That implies more recent production runs, and possibly improved components. Anecdotally, it seems like the more recent controllers have higher quality d-pads. This is important because Pro Controllers have acquired a bit of a reputation for overly sensitive dpads that would register some inputs incorrectly. For my part, I have two. I think one is a C and the other is an E. The E's dpad is a lot more reliable, it works like I'd expect. With my older Pro Controller, I do not even waste my time trying to play Tetris 99 with it, due to how easy it is to get erratic responses from the dpad.
Another great option for controllers are the 8bitdo controllers. The SN30 Pro+ is currently on a lightning deal at Amazon. I also really like the non-plus version, the SN30 Pro. It lacks the palm rests and (for the hardcore) programmability, but it's smaller and usually a little cheaper...but for the next 40 minutes, they're the same price!
Check out the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+.
I'm thinking about grabbing one myself.
8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ I'm new on the nintendo switch world, but this one says it has rumble
This is the one I have. It doesn't work, and they even say as much on their website:
>You can not wake up your Switch wirelessly with this controller.
We aren't doing a push present, but I was just shopping for my wife's birthday and settled on these slippers. Alternatively, to go with the gaming theme, I just purchased this controller. It works with the Switch (and PC) and has an awesome d-pad. The same company makes more retro styled controllers but this one is brand new and felt great for old school Mario as well as some Monster Hunter World on PC. I literally got it yesterday, but I'm pretty happy with it so far.
Does anyone know what the deal is with the identically priced “commemorative brooch” version of the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ controller on Amazon? The link on 8bitdo’s site goes here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT
...but then there is this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VBJ1BVF
The second link has no reviews, but appears to be the same controller from the same merchant/fulfiller, plus it ships next week instead of in 2+ weeks. Any idea if it’s legit and the same thing?
Strange, Amazon says August 7th, is that accurate? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8JKVNT/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_ICglDbT8M5YZC
This 8bitdo one has a similar layout and is a quality brand. (Is a little bit different from a ps4 dualshock though.)
