I AM the author, and I ask you to please NOT buy the kindle version!! Instead, please follow this link for the paperback version. Or if you prefer to comparison shop, you can go to the publisher site.
The formatting of the kindle version is deeply flawed, with tiny equations, missing mathematical symbols, and only sporadic hyperlinks. This is not my fault or the fault of the publisher; we have taken enormous pains to ensure a beautifully typeset final product, as you can see on the publisher site or on my own website. Unfortunately, though, the folks who put together the kindle version did a completely substandard job. Full disclosure: I am a maniacal perfectionist, but you don't have to take my word for it; you can see the kindle version for yourself, here (which btw, looks little like the Amazon "Look inside"...).
For those who already purchased a kindle version, you have my condolences (particularly if you purchased back when the cost was $42 or so!), but I also have some good news for you: after working hard to resolve this situation, I am pleased to announce that there will be a corrected version available for anyone who contacts Amazon or Wiley. I can't say when exactly, but hopefully soon.
Even the corrected version will not likely fix all of the problems, though, so if Amazon will allow it, I recommend returning your kindle version for store credit, and purchasing the print version instead. Your overall book experience will be much better, the "director's cut", if you will. Believe me, a tremendous effort went into making this experience worthwhile, and it is therefore painful to see much of this effort undermined in the ebook (but mostly kindle) version. I wish I could buy each of you the print version myself, but I'm not Oprah.
