If anyone is interested in a funny book on the history of alcohol consumption, I absolutely recommend A Short History of Drunkenness.
It's written to be funny but the author did a ton of research so it is also informative. He covers what people drank, where they drank it, and why they drank it across several different cultures from Mesopotamia to the Wild West.
