I didn't buy the lock you linked solely due to the first review on amazon shows it was snipped with bolt cutters. That one isn't a double shackle ulock, so not as strong as others available. I recently purchased this Abus ulock, a redditor suggested it because it's a double shackle ulock and pretty affordable. The reviews back it up and even the top review does a pro/con between the Abus and Kroptolok you linked. Full disclosure: I've literally only used the Abus once so far during the daytime in a crowded place so I can't actually say that this lock deters thieves at night or something.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004HXJRA0/ref=twister_B005F3GW9A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 This is the U-lock that I have, does its' job great, but really any will be a step up from the cable lock. Also in general the smaller the U-lock the safer it is.
The lumos bike helmet seems really cool to me bike light/turn signal and helmet built in one. a quality ulock! this one is pretty short though. I would also suggest a bike rack + a pannier. If you have the funds I would say get a pannier backpack it may not be the most comfortable backpack but it sure beats using carrying handles
