Had this for only Path of exile :) but I recently upgraded to a budget gaming pc.
this very decent Acer Aspire E 15 great cpu, nice ram good gpu for gaming and a fantastic 256gb ssd which will enhance you booting as well program launches.
One last question, about that 940mx laptop. The description says it uses DDR5 but then it says DDR3
Which one is better? 940mx (ddr3-4?) 2gb vram or 940m ddr3 4gb vram
but you are misunderstanding what the OP wants he wants a laptop that is able to run LoL (not that hard i ran it on computers from 2001) as well as code I have coded on i3 computers their compiling process is not worth the price the Quad core will increase performance dramatically and he said should he cheap out on the desktop not the laptop but if you do want a lower laptop that can still run LoL at max and doom (low to medium 60 fps) i reccomend this Acer Laptop
Edit: because doom is a new game i use it as a benchmark to show what type of performance you can get
I got this Laptop for 500€ and it has everything i want. I can game and photoshop or program with it. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-E5-574G-52QU-15-6-inch-Notebook/dp/B019G7VOSO/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1469651259&sr=1-1&keywords=Acer+aspire+e5+574G (got a full black version The only thing which is a little bad is to run games like overwatch with middle settings (55-65FPS).
Hi, I'm planning on buying This Laptop because i'm looking for a cheaper laptop that could play games and i was wondering how well it could run overwatch and on what settings
Is there any difference (other than model number) between the Acer you linked above, and this one on Amazon?
All specs look the same but the model numbers are different (and the one you linked to says "Newegg Exclusive")
I'm going to be buying a laptop soon and want one that could run this game. The requirements aren't too high right? I was thinking of possibly buying this laptop off Amazon. Does anything know if it could run Halo Online?
e: thanks for replys halo online fam
Did you buy a laptop yet?!
If you didn't BAM! This thing rocks for the price.
Even if you have, return the one you got, buy this. If its better than the one you got.
If I may ask one more question...
Regarding that laptop. It seems to me that it has a weaker graphics card but for what I want to do with it (low-medium League of Legends, SC2 etc.) I think a 940 should easily be able to handle that job.
It's saves $220 compared to the Dell which allows me room to buy an SSD and 16GB of RAM for it outright. Could you give me your opinion on that?
Thanks!
So in that case and with that budget, something like this would be a big upgrade for you and would give a far better gaming performance than your HP mainly because of its dedicated graphics card and of course a better processor and memory.
This would be ideal for you.
I like that one! After a little searching down that path, I ran into this laptop: Acer Aspire
The difference I noticed as the one I found has 4 GB VRAM and the one you linked has 2. Would you happen to know if this could be a possible typo on the Amazon listing?
This laptop would be a decent choice and more than likely the best you get in your budget range. It has a decent processor, memory, storage, screen resolution and of course, a dedicated graphics card that is probably the most important. It also has a decent battery life.
The laptops you've picked out all have Intel graphics chips. Since you're saying you want something that can edit video well along with some casual gaming I'd suggest something with dedicated graphics.
Edit: I've been looking at this laptop.. It has a dedicated graphics card, which seems to be able to handle the things you want to throw at it. I'd advise slapping an SSD in it, which the highest rated review for it on the listing shows you how to do.
Hello! Could you tell me how it would compare to this? Thanks!
It's a $100 cheaper with no compromises?
How does it compare to this? http://www.amazon.com/Acer-E5-573G-15-6-Inch-GeForce-Windows/dp/B019G7VOSO/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1458732361&sr=8-1&keywords=gaming+laptop+under+600&linkCode=ll1&tag=3918-20&linkId=f83b2134f556dc61424a4538219fa84d
This is an excellent choice right here. Has a decent processor, good 8 GB RAM, and a pretty decent dedicated graphics card. It also has a nice screen resolution. It also has a good storage and an excellent battery life of over 6 hours. This should run Stardew Valley, Minecraft and similar games on ultra settings with decent FPS.
Yeah, I am pretty much in the same boat as you. I am probably going to buy the Aspire E from Newegg because there is really much else with a 940M or better in that price range. You could get the Skylake refresh of the Aspire E, it is cheaper than the old version on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-E5-574G-52QU-15-6-inch-Notebook/dp/B019G7VOSO
No problem. It can handle all of those at (or maybe near with CS:GO, although I would expect it to) with ease. Apparently, the specs can also run MGSV with some graphics tweaks, if YouTube videos are to be believed. Just have a lap fan handy for more tasking games like AC4. If you just want to play those games, older laptops with 860m cards will run it just fine, but I'd recommend having some room if you want to expand your library.
It's a good deal if you can find it for under $600. There's also the Acer Aspire E 15 E5-574G-52QU on sale for $549 on Amazon that has a gen-6 i5 processor with a slightly lower (3.0GHz vs 2.8GHz) turbo and the same GPU with Windows 10. Mine is currently $645 on Amazon. Based on CPUBoss, the processors have very similar performance, with my i7 being slightly better, but not worth the $100 difference.
For extra information, the 573G-79JP is the same exact laptop as I have, but preloaded with 10. All of the 573g and 574g laptops are also capable of getting the DVD caddy mod (which won't void the warranty, BTW). Sorry if this is a huge info dump, just don't want to spend more than you need to. I would also look at other laptops with 940m's and i5/i7 setups and find a good deal. There's also Newegg to look at for deals.
Is a cheap gaming laptop out of the question? You could grab this laptop for $500 and be able to play most games at low-medium settings. Or, if you can spend a little more, you could go for this laptop for $800 and play most games at medium-high settings.
If you don't want a laptop, then I would definitely go with the mini rig.
I'd go for something like this for a mini rig:

This would definitely fit into an average-sized backpack.
Allthough it is over your budget please consider this Acer Aspire E 15 E5-574G-52QU , the battery life is awesome 6 hours battery life which would be really important ., i5-6200U, 8GB RAM, great storage and speed, Nvidia 940MX graphics , and a 15.6" 1920x1080 display. Or even the Acer Aspire E15-575G
This is probably as good as you're going to get for a low-cost laptop. You might be able to get a steady 30 FPS at minimum settings. Going a little more expensive will net you more performance and an SSD for good Windows performance. The sweet spot in price/performance ratio would probably be this, but the lack of an SSD pains me. If I were to buy a gaming laptop, the lowest-end model I would get would be this Asus ROG.
take a look at this laptop acer
I've seen cheaper newer models of your laptop, if it isn't too late I'd return it and buy this one
At the moment I'm considering Acer Aspire E 15 E5-574G-52QU
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B019G7VOSO?tag=price195-20&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER It's right here.
And for $550 Skylake + 940m it's alright, I think for $500 there is another Acer with a 950m and broadwell CPU, that would be better spec wise.
How much better is the 960M vs the 940M? I was eyeing this Acer and its a fair bit cheaper.
It's on sale for $550 here. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019G7VOSO?tag=slicinc-20&ascsubtag=191deb6cc36211e585d72ef14bb7f7360000
Easily I recommend this laptop. Nice quality build and very decent specs. It even has a dedicated graphics card that will come in very handy in running CSGO.
