Definitely not running rust on an integrated GPU. You'll need at least 8gb of ram and I would recommend a GTX 1060. you might be able to get by with a 1050 on potato quality. For a gaming laptop I would recommend the Acer Helios 300. Probably the single best bang-for-your-buck gaming laptop.
Everything I've heard on reddit and other forums says to avoid AMD products in laptops. The 2019 Helios 300 is just under $1200 right now, though that laptop is only 15". I know that line has 17" models but not sure on prices.
That being said, if this is what your heart is set on, obviously no one can give you a 100% answer. Amazon Prime Day was just last week and a lot of other businesses ran similar sales to try to snipe away some of Amazon's business. We are now getting into the back to school sales but there is no guarantee that what you want will go on sale (or if that sale would be worth the wait) so you could be waiting for nothing. Most brick and mortar stores (i.e. not Amazon) will refund you for any price changes if the price drops during your refund/exchange period (Best Buy will, for sure.)
Black Friday would probably be your best bet, but once again, no one can say for sure. I do want to reiterate that I think the 2019 Helios 300 is your best bet. I was a little miffed about the 15" screen but I eventually decided that investing in a nice (and bigger) external monitor would be better for gaming at home and that 15" would be good enough when out of town.
There is a new Helios 300 2019, literally new, it just come up this month with a better cooling, better graphic card and better processor. You can find the basic version it on amazon; the $200 extras seems worth it, or if you are in the US and have prime, maybe there could be a discount on prime day next month
I used this on my last deployment. It played Apex, Star Citizen, Warzone, and every other title I wanted to play with no issues.
Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop PC, 15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display, Intel i7-9750H, GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 16GB DDR4, 256GB NVMe SSD, Backlit Keyboard, PH315-52-78VL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_jpyxFb9YP1R1M
Question, I found a laptop from Amazon prime that would have cost me PHP59.4K (estimate) to ship to the PH. A similar model would net around 75K - 80K locally.
Would it have been worth it to buy or nah?
Imo, neither, not when the Acer Predator 300 2019 is $999 today! Down from $1199.99
Laptop: Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop PC, 15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display, Intel i7-9750H, GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 16GB DDR4, 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, Backlit Keyboard, PH315-52-78VL

Picked it up myself this morning.
It seems ur looking for a laptop if I am correct. For that the best deal for your budget right now is a predator Helios 300 (2019) if you are in a sales tax state that will bring it right around your budget. The only problem is the 250gb ssd can be small if you keep a lot of games downloaded however the laptop does have an 2.5 in expansion slot if you need more room in the future
Amazon link Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop PC, 15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display, Intel i7-9750H, GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 16GB DDR4, 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, Backlit Keyboard, PH315-52-78VL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_nBqlDb4C4NSB8
Is this new, refurbished, or an open box? This price just almost seems too good to be true. Especially, the cheapest I've been able to find it(even on amazon, which I'll provide a link) is for $1098: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=psdc_13896615011_t1_B07MDGQBS9?th=1
Which it has less storage. I'm just wondering how all that will work. Like will I have to pay tariffs, ect. Again, sorry if the questions/concerns are dumb. Just, would be new to ordering anything online from another country(even though it's still amazon).
Look up e6 specs and use that as your baseline.
I purchased this is 2019 for $900 and it runs GC3 FSX software maxed out with ease. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_glt_i_9GZJVWPN4BXNRN7G9RAR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Golf sim isn't very demanding
Also consider importing it from US. I imported my Predator Helios (official link redirected by Acer website) back in 2019 just for AED 5,376.24, when it was available for AED 8,7XX approx. at Sharaf DG, Jumbo, EMax and other single room shops in Deira. I roamed entire Dubai to find the best price.
But obviously, this at the cost of losing warranty. International warranty doesn't apply for UAE it seems, not sure though.
Still this laptop, in which I'm typing this comment, is a beast for current AAA gaming. At least enough for me.
But of course It's your call. I didn't ever face any complaints with my laptops in it's warranty period. So I was ready to take this risk.
Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop PC, 15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display, Intel i7-9750H, GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 16GB DDR4, 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, Backlit Keyboard, PH315-52-78VL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_U0MnDbSY3VCGN
It is just under $1200 (so even if you live in a state with a high sales tax, it should fit your budget.) It has a 1660 ti and everything I've read and heard says it is a really great laptop for the price and in general. I will be purchasing it a week from Friday and am super excited. It doesn't have a lot of storage but it does have 2 empty slots (one 2.5" and one M.2) and you can get a 1TB 2.5" HDD for $50 on Amazon. You can do that later, though and you can also probably find smaller, cheaper drives on Amazon and elsewhere. I plan on using a 2TB external drive at first and then getting my extra, bigger drives in a month or 2.
I'm a tech guy. Love following PC hardware and laptops and Mac all over the place, even built my own PC and stuff. I'm looking through the BYOD suggested list and all I can think is that they're scamming freshman. Straight up I can think of 5 or 6 laptops with better specs and way better performance than this lenovo off the top of my head that are WAY cheaper than $1500. I just want to know if we should suggest other laptops for the freshman BYOD requirement that might not be as crappy as this.
Like, seriously, $1500 and only a U-series i7, a freaking 2GB discrete graphics chip and 8GB of RAM??? The 2019 Acer Helios 300 for example is $300 less, has a 144hz IPS display, 16GB of RAM, the same amount of hard drive space, a freaking H-series 6 core i7, and a spankin' 1660Ti under the cover with x3 the VRAM.
Did I mention it was $300 less too? Here's the amazon link for proof. Seriously guys, be careful with BYOD. I have friends who straight up wasted $1500 on something just as terrible instead of buying something actually great.
Edit: Also, if you're looking for an allegory to the Lenovo, look at the Y530. It's only got a 1050Ti, but the 8750H is still a beast and the 1050Ti is okay for anything 1080p medium settings at 50-60fps. The Helios is better, but that's Acer if you're not into them.
$1,000 = Acer Predator Helios 300 (Amazon Daily Deal, Act Fast!!!)
$1,500 - $2,000 = Lenovo Y540 or Y740 (IntelGamerDay Deals)
Lenovo has some great deals on their web site right now. Web site is acting up at the moment so it is hard to provide a link at the moment.
If advise against the 1050 since even when it was brand new it was pretty weak.
Heres a pretty good laptop i found on Amazon; https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_F2fFDb9GB6F7R
The 1660 is not a bad graphics card either thats a fairly new card and if you can get a laptop with that then youd be set. Btw have you considered building a pc instead?
You need specs. Regardless of laptop or desktop specs are the defining factor. Layout your budget and I can tell you BUT a cheap perfect all around winner holding the current #1 position for laptops in performance V price is the Helios 300. It's on Amazon and is $1.1K. You can also wait for prime day and the price will dip to $999.99
Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop PC, 15.6 inches Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display, Intel i7-9750H, GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 16GB DDR4, 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, Backlit Keyboard, PH315-52-78VL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_hBaZDb6HCNF2D
It can be found on Amazon HERE for 1092.
Amazon had it for 999 on prime day I believe. I would wait until then if you can. You could also get it now on the acer recertified website if you want for 899. It looks like they have a 90 day return policy.
Hi, it is possible that a good deal will pop up at Costco during the next few sales to take advantage of their warranty. But if not, websites like Amazon and Newegg are also very good options for purchasing a laptop. You should keep your eye on the deals on this subreddit, as well as the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> in particular because it almost always performs the best in its price range during sales.
If you're okay with doing monthly payments with Amazon, the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> is bound to drop in price for Black Friday. But no touchscreen display, nearly all gaming laptops don't have one.
I've been deliberating for the past few weeks on what to buy Cyberpunk on, I can think of merits for both, so I'm throwing it to you all for your thoughts.
I have a PS4 Pro, will be getting a PS5 (when I can lol). I have it hooked up to a Samsung 43" TU8000 4K TV. I also have an Acer Predator Helios 300 laptop.
Part of me is considering getting the game for PS4 Pro/PS5. That will be able to do 4K or do 60 fps pretty reliably. Only thing is that I'll lack visual customization which I enjoy. Also, I'm going to be building a new desktop in the new year, so I could transfer my save files to the desktop. Since the new Nvidia 30 series touts 4K at 60 FPS, that would be amazing. The thing is though, unlike my PS4 Pro/PS5 there's no way to know 100% how the game will perform on the laptop. I'm sure it'll be ok, but will it likely be superior to the PS4 Pro in terms of FPS? That I'm unsure of.
So, what do you all think?
Oh sorry, I was playing some games, didn't notice you replied, and you just made the same mistake I did lol, I already commented what laptop I have on the comment with my 3dmark score, it's the Helios 300, I didn't mention the model tho, it's the PH315-52-78VL, here's the Amazon Link from where I bought it.
I bought on Black Friday last year, it was 930$ (the i7 16gb 256 NVMe one not i5 or 512gb)
And yeah... I basically only used Reddit for that shitty mobile game for like 2 years and nothing else, 99% of my posts/comments are still about that lol
Hey man idk when you bought the laptop, but currently it's regularly going on sale around for $900-$1100 on Amazon. Even the 2060 version is around $1300 so you might wanna adjust your price.
Looking at the Acer Helios 2019 version on amazon.
Says HDMI 2.0, per the other comment on this thread I should be good. Haven’t picked a monitor yet. What should I be looking for?
Acer helios 300, best value of 2019 no doubt. It has a 1660ti and 6 core Cpu. Battery life is not great, but check if it is enough for you. Besides, all laptops have sucky performance when not plugged in.
It went as low as 950 during black Friday, and it's usually around 999. For some reason it's slightly higher right now, but wait a bit until it goes back to 999. Amazon link
Important! Get 2019 model (blue highlights), NOT 2018 model. That one had some thermal issues
The Acer predator 300 2019 version improved the thermal design, you should be good with getting it and it won't overheat. Most amazon complain is from the older version
Not really a sale. It has been on sale on Amazon ($1073) with 256GB SSD
I would lean more towards the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> , their support has been decent from my experiences
Screen Type: 15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display,
Processor: Intel i7-9750H,
Graphics: GTX 1660 Ti 6GB,
RAM:16GB DDR4,
Storage Type: 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD
Comments: An improvement on the 2018 version as it has a much better cooling system. This laptop provides great specs for the price and is ideal for gamers who do not want to overspend. Its battery life is not that long so you will have to walk with your charger. The GPU in this laptop won’t go stale for a while as it is fully able to run new titles on max settings and get great FPS.
And just to be clear, you mean you have
the Acer "Predator Helios", <strong>this one</strong>, right?
Hm, seems like it may be hard to get much better, there's some at abt $1100 USD, but they aren't very much better, but they are all around more powerful for things IG
Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop PC, 15.6 inches Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display, Intel i7-9750H, GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 16GB DDR4, 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, Backlit Keyboard, PH315-52-78VL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_BqycEbDDTB5XB
You should be able to add a 2tb 2.5inch drive as well if you want to upgrade storage
My previous generation Helios 300 lasted 1.5ish years of HEAVY use, and I only broke the left spacebar stabilizer, and the s key is slightly worn. I would reccomend the 144hz over the 60 tho, the 60 was suffering. You may want to get an external display but I've heard the displays improved :)
I don't know how much do you want, but I will just say what I'm thinking is good for you. I bet you may need a graphics card to design 3d stuff... Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Extreme is a headstart for you... since you need to design and such, you will need a dedicated graphics card. I don't think you need a mobile workstation, the normal high end with an intel H processor and Nvida GTX/RTX graphics card should be good for you. If you don't really like that, you can change to the pricier Razer Blade. I personally like the Blade since the aesthetic is so nice and good and it's also really thin, but it's still kinda expensive. Or you can now move to the Dell XPS 15 lineup, though there is some thermal issue running around it, the XPS should be fine for you. Or you still need more power? Gigabyte Aero 15/15x should be the way to go, there is a Quadro model for the laptop too if you want to just content creation ( I mean most graphics chip should work fine... but the quadro may support you more). Well if you're on the budget, I think the best way is to go with some cheap gaming laptop... I have one with $1000 range but really good in the specification. I will edit more if I can think of more... I wouldn't recommend HP since I had issue with HP before, I bought their high end product (HP Omen 15t) And I got overheating issue and drivers issues too.
On BF it was going for 950,now it is 1060 it is lower than it usually is, but it is been lower, not sure if it will drop further or not.
Since you are looking for a 144 hz screen then this Acer Predator Helios 300 would be your best option, it offers great value for money and great specs for gaming as well, and it is just within your budget.
Then I think this acer is your best option, because it has great value for money and it has everything you are asking for.
Hi, currently the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> is a tad bit over budget, but I think it will fall into your price range during Black Friday or Cyber Monday. The i7 processor and GTX 1660 Ti GPU is great for playing games.
Hi, you're going to need gaming-like specifications in order to get good performance. Consider the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> when it goes on sale for Black Friday, it will definitely be in your range.
If you still haven't decided, this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QXLFLXT/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=dav0d2-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B07QXLFLXT&linkId=81e213e37808ec3cdd9cdf49882386c4
Ships to norway. No idea what the shipping costs tho
$930 USD is basically unheard of for a laptop like this, probably gonna be sold out in hours lol
This acer just dropped in price couple of hours ago, now would be a great time to buy it, and it is your best option for the price.
Hi, the <strong>Helios 300</strong> will be dropping in price sometime during this sale period into your budget. It definitely will be the best value device.
Hi, the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> will drop another $200 tomorrow for Black Friday, so that's your best value option in your price range.
Hi, if 15" is okay, watch out for the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. We could get lucky this time around and get a larger discount than before.
I am not sure if it is PMW free or not but I think this acer is your best option because of its value for money and high refresh rate screen.
The <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> is fully able to render and 3d work smoothly. The other options that you are to look at depend on your preferences such as battery life, weight etc
I'll just leave this here:
$1099 - Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop PC, 15.6 inches Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display, Intel i7-9750H, GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 16GB DDR4, 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, Backlit Keyboard, PH315-52-78VL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1uZXDbTR3CBMY
If the laptop can be purchased from Amazon, I think you should keep your eye on the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong>. It is almost guaranteed to drop to $1,000 or lower during this upcoming sale.
Hi, the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> will drop another $200 for Black Friday (either later today or tomorrow). It is well within budget and has overall good specifications that should be able to handle 4K footage.
Agreed, I would keep this Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 version in mind because it comes with everything you need and I suspect it will have a big discount.
For your budgets this acer would be your best option because it comes with everything you need, i7 hexa core CPU which is one of the best in your budget and great for your usage, 16GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading, Full HD IPS 144 hz screen which is a must have for this price range(and rare in this price range), 1660TI GPU and that is as future proof as it gets in this price range, and it is within your budget.
I was looking at that one versus the acer predator helios 300:
Do you think the one you suggested is worth the price difference? It's abour $200 more, but it has twice the storage and an upgrade in the graphics card
They are definitely not overkill, especially if you want it for the next few years. The <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> will drop $200 in price very soon, so perfectly within budget.
Value for money wise that is a great option for comparison this acer cost 400$ less and it has half the storage and 1660Ti instead of 2070 , not sure about build quality and heat mangement as well.
Hi, I sadly think that a touchscreen on a gaming device will be too hard to find. Perhaps, you should keep your eye on the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> for Black Friday, it will undoubtedly be one of the best value devices in your range.
According to this listing
> Acer provides a domestic warranty in the country of purchase and an International Travelers Warranty for the laptop products. This applies to genuine travelers only;
Are you talking about this Acer if so then that is what I would go with because the Helios has better build and better heat mangement. Not sure which Zephyrus can you link it ?
Are you going to wait to BF ? because this Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 version might drop low enough to fall within your budget.
I have a suggestion, if you can increase your budget a bit then go with the helios 300, tech is kinda my hobby, i love tech hence i know about laptops and stuff and i searched the whole internet when i bought my laptop, no company comes close to Acer Predator helios 300 series in terms of values...
Currently it costs about 226k with shipping and you have to add duty on top of that but it will definitely go on sale this year because it does every year, make sure to get this version cause it is the latest one.. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-78VL/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=helios+300&qid=1573141680&s=electronics&sr=1-3
A similar spec laptop costs over 300k here in SL. It is absolutely worth for the money.
They usually discount it $100 bucks but then sometimes they do $200. If they do the $100 then you could get it for 207k + tax... if they do the $200 deal which is rare but they do it from time to time then you could get it for 188k + tax.
You can turn the RGB off, or get this acer instead. Most high end gaming laptops will have RGB keyboard.
I asked in the discord and was suggested this Acer Helios 300 deal off of amazon. The main reason I wanted to go with costco is because I've had an excellent experience with their support/warranty. It looks tempting. For only $70 cheaper, is it worth losing that for the $999 y545 off costco? Smaller SDD too?
The only reason why I have been put against the Y540 is because in comparison to the Acer Predator Helios 300 is because they are similar in specs, but majority of reviews favor the Helios 300 over the Y540.
It is going to find a laptop with everything that you want in your budget but you can upgrade the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> to get it to that level
Screen Type: 15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display,
Processor: Intel i7-9750H,
Graphics: GTX 1660 Ti 6GB,
RAM:16GB DDR4,
Storage Type: 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD

It says that it's 1350$ if that's right then I would definitely recommend This Acer Instead .
Hi, keep your eye on the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong>, it is very likely to drop to $1,000 during Black Friday.
Hi, I think you should watch the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong>, it will definitely be on sale for Black Friday. You'll be able to run AAA titles at high-ultra settings 1080p with over 60 FPS, so first person shooters will run just fine.
Value for money wise the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> would be the laptop to go for with its only draw back being 5 lbs
Screen Type: 15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display,
Processor: Intel i7-9750H,
Graphics: GTX 1660 Ti 6GB,

If you want a lighter laptop let me know but it will have weaker specs
Hm... there is a small chance that the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> could drop into your price range. Otherwise, you should keep your eye on the deals that will be posted on the subreddit during the next sale.
Hey you could consider this <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop</strong> as a suitable laptop that surpasses your spec requirements but you will have to dig a little deeper into your pocket.
I would say this is the cheapest one.
Hi, in your price range, the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> is a very solid device. It has a GTX 1660 Ti graphics card and i7 processor, very powerful for school use and gaming.
Since you are going to wait for Black friday then You should wait for this acer to drop in price, it will be your best option.
If you want to want to stay to the lower end of your budget the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> would be the laptop to go for
Screen Type: 15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display,
Processor: Intel i7-9750H,
Graphics: GTX 1660 Ti 6GB,
RAM:16GB DDR4,
Storage Type: 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD

Its battery life is not that long so you will have to walk with your charger. It will run AAA games on high settings smoothly. It is also very easy to upgrade if you want more RAM or storage in the future
Hey. The best bang for your budget would be the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop PC</strong>. It comes with some pretty decent spects like the latest GTX 1660ti gpu a 9th gen cpu good ram and a nice display. thermals arent bad either based on the reviews.
Best value for money in your budget would be the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> 2019 version
· 15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display
· Intel i7-9750H
· GTX 1660 Ti 6GB
· 16GB DDR4,
· 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, Backlit
This laptop is ideal for gamers who want the best bang for back at a relatively affordable cost. This laptop outperforms its predecessors as it has a better, CPU, GPU, screen and most important thermals. This laptop won’t throttle easily when gaming for extended periods although the fans do get loud when maxed out. The RAM and storage are both easily upgradable as there is an extra slot for a HDD or another SSD
Your best option would be this acer :)
Do you have other options in mind ? how about this acer.
The laptop you mentioned on Microsoft site was $1,559 a month ago. Maybe it will be same on Black Friday.
Acer Predator Helios 300 is CA$ 1,507. This is i7-9750H processor, 16GB Ram, GTX-1660Ti graphic card, Full HD 144Hz screen.
Where are you buying from ? if you are buying from the US then you can buy this acer and you can pay in installments with Amazon's card as well if that is something you are worried about.
I'd say if you already have a switch and are enjoying it, then maybe a large purchase isn't necessary. However, if you already plan on buying a laptop to do work on, why not get a laptop with a decent graphics card in it? I bought the older version of this laptop (amazon link) on a cyber monday deal for like US$850-900ish. With the 1660ti that is in the newer model, all those games you mentioned will run on max settings no problem and should last you a good while.
<strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> 2019 version would be a good gaming laptop to get
Screen Type: 15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display,
Processor: Intel i7-9750H,
Graphics: GTX 1660 Ti 6GB,
RAM:16GB DDR4,
Storage Type: 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD
Comments: An improvement on the 2018 version as it has a much better cooling system. This laptop provides great specs for the price and is ideal for gamers who do not want to overspend. Its battery life is not that long so you will have to walk with your charger. If you want to use up more of your budget if you want
Between the two I would go with this configuration
Was your laptop overheating when you were playing before?

A decent laptop you can get for that budget is the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong>
Screen Type:15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display,
Processor: Intel i7-9750H,
Graphics: GTX 1660 Ti 6GB,
RAM: 16GB DDR4,
Storage Type: 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD
Comments: An improvement on the 2018 version as it has a much better cooling system. This laptop provides great specs for the price and is ideal for gamers who do not want to overspend. Its battery life is not that long so you will have to walk with your charger. It will be able to game very well and give you a good experience
Is 1k your max ? because if you push it a little then you can get this Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 version Mainly because it offers great value for money and it is one of the few laptops that has a 144 refresh screen in this price range, 16GB of ram for smooth multitasking(with the option to upgrade), Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading(with the option to add another drive or replace this one), very good heat management, 1660 GPU that should be able to handle the games you mentioned on medium to high settings with very good FPs, and it is not too much over your budget.
Like others mentioned this is your best option especially with the current sale.
Hey, the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop</strong> would do a great job at gaming as well as manage your daily tasks at college. but you might have to stretch your budget just a little.
If you didn't get one yet then this is what I would go with.
There is a "rant" now on the Y530, you might want to check that out, so instead I would go with Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 version because it offers great value for money and since you don't really care about battery or weight then it will be the perfect option.
Item title and description say FHD (1920x1080), but under "Technical Details" max screen resolution is 1280x800. I assume FHD is correct given the Predator series but can anyone clarify this?
Honestly, this does not seem like a great deal. The Helios 300 model PH315-52-78VL costs $300 less ($400 less when on sale), and the only differences seem to be keyboard back-lighting style (monochrome vs. RGB) and SSD size (256GB vs 512GB ... note that both have an additional M.2 slot).
These differences just don't seem worth paying an extra $300-$400 (especially if the screen isn't actually FHD). Am I missing something else about this model that is improved over the 78VL?
The most important focus should be the processor and graphics card for a device near your range, since you can just upgrade storage / RAM yourself. The <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> is one of the best devices for its price. The i7-9750H processor and GTX 1660 Ti graphics card are the most powerful specifications you can get, which should be solid for your use.
How about the Helios 300 which is the best under that price range you mentioned. consist of a gtx 1660 ti which is better than the 1060 gpu. Also consist of the latest 9th gen i7 processor which is better than the previous generation.
sturdy build quality
compact, but still fairly heavy
good 144 Hz matte screen
excellent performance once tweaked
capable thermal implementation, but the fans need to spin fast and loudly in order to keep the components at bay
easy to upgrade
Powerful GPU which can run the latest games at high settings.
Very Fast CPU for high graphic intensive games.
keep cool when gaming
The tasks you listed seem to be pretty demanding, so I think the best option is going for a gaming device (they have the strongest processors and GPUs in your price range). So, the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> is a very solid option with an i7 processor and GTX 1660 Ti graphics card. The laptop has a pretty nice 1080p 15.6" 144Hz IPS display.
Thank you! I'm about ready to pull the trigger on that Dell. I've always liked the laptops I've bought from them. I have one final question. Given what I've requested, and the fact that with a little bit of patience I could get something like the Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop for just $300ish more (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QXLFLXT/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1), would it be worth it to wait for the latter?
Is that too subjective of a question? lol Basically "is the Acer I linked $300 better than the Dell, or is it minimal"?
You mean this Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 version ? if yes then that is what I would recommend because it comes with great value, and it comes with faster GPU, better CPU, much better heat mangement, and still offers great value for money.
The main problem is the cooling system, as there is a pretty good chance that the laptop will eventually throttle on a heavy load. If a 15.6" device is okay, the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> this year is a very good choice. i7 processor and GTX 1660 Ti graphics card. It has very little throttling issues compared to previous years.
Did you check this configuration Acer Predator Helios 300 ?
I was planning to say that :) if you are ok with 15 inch then this is your best option especially with the current sale.
how about the Helios 300 which could run stadia when it arrives. It has a gtx 1660 ti which is better than the 1060 gpu. It was released earlier this year. furthermore, the newest i7 9th gen processor. wonderful IPS screen display and keeps comparatively cool.
Out of those I would go with this one.
Since battery life and weight is not important then I would go with Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 version because it offers great value for money and very good heat mangement, and it comes with 144 Hz screen and 1660 GPU which is a great mix for the price.
That's US dollars , right? At $1199, you could get it for $100 less **here
Jarrod’s tech actually just tested the y540 and it seems to be slower than the Acer. Take a look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43VqW4AVsHk
PS Helios is 999 right now on amazon https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-78VL/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1WHXC49MN6BH9&keywords=helios+300&qid=1563214142&s=gateway&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&sprefix=rios+300%2Caps%2C268&sr=8-1-spons...
I would go for the Asus Zephyrus G14, I've owned it for like a month now and I'm absolutely loving it. In terms of portability, well, it's a 14" laptop so nothing else to say. About performance it handles AAA games pretty well, I like playing Warzone which is a demanding game and I'm always getting 70+ fps. I've read a lot of stuff about the screen response time, but while playing in the laptop I can't really notice it, and I mostly use an external monitor to play so. It's priced at $1449 but if you sign up as student at best buy (it's free and no need of verification) you can get it for $1349, which comes around your budget.
If you don't like that one, you can always check the Lenovo legion 5i (I was also checking this one but couldn't resist for the g14 charm), if you want it for pure gaming, maybe the Acer Predator Helios 300, although the sound at the boot will scare your son (it's really scary haha), but this in game performance is a beast.
A looks to be this
Looks up Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-78VL/dp/B07QXLFLXT
Php61200 excluding shipping and handling. Now compare that with some of the Sager models.
Hey! I'm in the same boat as you to be honest. College student with a semi-flexible $1000 budget for a value for money gaming laptop. Right now I'm looking at some refurbished deals from B&H for a Lenovo Legion Y7000, but for me, the laptop I want the most at the moment is the Acer Predator Helio 300 (2019) due to the fact that it is the best value for money laptop right now. However, since I like saving money (aka I'm a big cheap ass😂), I am currently waiting for two things to happen: 1. For a back to school sale to happen where the prices for this laptop goes down by like a lot and 2. Someone to post a listing on Amazon, eBay, or Craigslist for a like-new Acer Helios 300. But yeah, that's what my current situation is. Hope this helps!

I just picked one of these up for $1200 with a 1660ti.
Lenovo is the brand. Legion is the series.
It's a budget gaming laptop series, but yes, it has received very strong reviews in recent years (despite that Lenovo isn't particularly acclaimed across the gamut). This is where they shine. It's on par with Acer's Helios or Asus's TUF series of laptops that you'll see recommended. The Helios 300 model, in particular, has dominated the bestselling spot on Amazon among gamer-class laptops for the past 3 years running, with each annual respective update to the specs, due to its value, but the 2019 model I linked there is $95 more, but only has an SSD that is half the size. It's a no-brainer to go with the Legion.
To go above this in terms of build quality you'd be stepping up to the likes of MSI GS or GE series of laptops (the MSI GS65 Stealth Thin model has reigned here for a few years). This is way outside your budget. I'm seeing a really attractive price on an older GS63 unit, but here's the rundown:
The current 2019 variants of the GS or GE series laptops with the same specs are running from $1400-$1800 at various retailers. Go with the Legion.
The 1050 is a fairly weak card that isn't going to last you many years. If I were you, I'd wait until Black Friday and look for deals on the Helios 300 with a 1660TI
It's currently on Amazon for $200 more than the one you linked, but it's been on sale for $999 on Amazon before, and I'd expect that to happen again around Black Friday / Cyber Monday
Buying gaming laptop on amazon
I want to buy a gaming laptop on amazon but i have never bought expensive products on the platform. The product im wanting is this: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-78VL/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=sr_1_4?currency=GBP&keywords=gaming+laptop&qid=1571418873&refinements=p_36%3A90000-120000%2Cp_n_feature_five_browse-bin%3A13580790011%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A2289792011&rnid=676578011&sr=8-4
What Im worrying about is that if the laptop isnt functioning correctly, will i have the chance to return it , or do i have insurance for the laptop?
The product detail mentioned it:
Amazon.com Return Policy:You may return any new computer purchased from Amazon.com that is "dead on arrival," arrives in damaged condition, or is still in unopened boxes, for a full refund within 30 days of purchase.
but im not sure what it means. Does it mean i wouldnt be able to return the laptop once i have already opened the package? What if the laptop is internally damaged during transportation? Thanks.
I think you paid $100 more than you should have. Amazon knocked the price down today: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-78VL/dp/B07QXLFLXT?ref_=Oct_DLandingS_D_466a83d5_61&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
I just received my Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop PC and when I ran it I got a no bootable device message. I checked my BIOS and there is no hard drive displayed in the list. Did I buy a laptop with no hard drive this is the listing here on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QXLFLXT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

i only seen it on some websites and youtube videos but there are different screens and specs but these are some

Can't recommend Helios 300 enough. I will let the store page do the talking.
Any questions feel free to ask
How much RAM does your system have now? When you get stuttering are you maxing out on RAM usage?

The GS65 is more like a vanity product, as you get a super light gaming laptop than can actually game, but this drives the price way up. The Prestige 15 is a comfortable laptop for creators, but not really for gamers. If you want bang for your buck, get the 2019 Helios300 as someone else suggested. It has 144hz screen and it's quite decent. The value options are:
i7 9750h, gtx 1660ti, 16gb ram, 256gb ssd. $1100. Amazon
i7 9750h, rtx 2060, 16gb ram, 512gb ssd. $1300 Amazon
Excellent value on any of those two. The 1660ti model has been as low as 900 during black friday I think. Use price tracking to find a good moment to buy it if you want.
Go to r/laptopdeals and hunt for something with the specs you want. At this time, an 8750h is fine, it's pretty much the same as the 9750h.
On the graphics side, it's 1660ti for budget, 2060 for power. Don't get anything with a 2070 Max Q, it is very crippled and the 2060 performs just as well (the 2060 is full laptop card, not Max Q).
Now... if you find a good deal with the 2070 Max P (P for performance, not Q), that one ABSOLUTELY ROCKS.
I don't know if you can buy from amazon in Puerto Rico or not but if you can then I would recommend you push your budget and get this Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 version because it comes with everything you need, great value for money, 144Hz screen which is great for fast paced games, easily upgradeable, Latest CPU and GPU, Very good heat management, and here is a more detailed review :

Not sure if you're in the U.S or use amazon but here's the store listing. (I recommend putting a larger ssd in the laptop just in case 512 gb isn't enough space): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_vkcnEbMPMNM5Z
You can get a good gaming laptop foraround 1100 USD, then get a terabyte of SSD for another 120 USD... there's no way this is a laptop that comes with 1TB SSD... with that price... I guess you can do normal task, you need to go more buck... thus, this is a 3rd party seller, not amazon sell it, be careful
I actually came here looking for help on my own shopping, but I'd like to recommend one for you, the Acer Predator Helios 300, which I myself MIGHT buy tomorrow (I'll explain later why just "might"). But for you, I think this makes perfect sense if you select the configuration for this one: i7-9750H/GTX 1660Ti/16GB/256GB, which is $1,069 as of today, 01/04/2020.

Final Verdict
I really REALLY like the specs of this laptop, and extendability, and I think if you can get past the looks and are OK with the feel of the keybd/trackpad, this is a solid choice for you. It's within your budget, has great specs, great extendability, and will handle everything you throw at it except extreme gaming. You're not going to get everything you want in any laptop unless you dish out a ton of money, so if you're focused on bang-4-buck and staying within budget, I think this is a really good pick for you. Even if you buy online, I very highly recommend you go into a good computer store (like a MicroCenter where they are knowledgeable about computers) and verify everything I said here with an in-house guru. You might even find better prices. i.e. the $1,100 model I am recommending to you is more expensive in MicroCenter, but the $1,600 model is cheaper at the same store.
For me personally, my main reason for not buying it YET is that I am considering my gaming laptop purchase to also replace my desktop computer, which I do heavy gaming on. So I might go with a top end ASUS Rog Zephyrus which is like $2,500+. But since I too want to use it for productivity (programming, graphic design, music production), I am considering this laptop also. If I wasn't a hardcore gamer, and if I didn't care for the looks of the laptop, I definitely would go with this Helios 300. And yes, I wrote all this to convince myself too. Good luck!
If you can push your budget a little higher, then I would recommend this Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 version because it comes with everything you need, great value for money, 144Hz screen which is great for fast paced games, easily upgradeable, Latest CPU and GPU, Very good heat management, and here is a more detailed review :

This is higher than your budget, but we are hoping that it will have a sale later in the day so with that said I would recommend this Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 version because it comes with everything you need, great value for money, 144Hz screen which is great for fast paced games, easily upgradeable, Latest CPU and GPU, Very good heat management, and here is a more detailed review :
Screen bright enough for using outside in the shade but not in direct sunlight.
GPU is powerful enough for your games to be played on high settings.
Laptop comes with Optimus to conserve battery.
Keyboard is great, quiet, and have a nice feel.
Keyboard has a numpad but narrower than the rest of the keyboard, and the arrow buttons shifted.
Speakers are at the bottom and kinda muffed so a headset is recommended for when you are gaming.

The 9th gen Helios and the 8th gen Helios are two solid options in this price range. Both have 144Hz displays, solid specs, and great performance. The newer 9th generation also has significantly improved thermals and a marginally better build quality.
You could also consider a cheaper Lenovo Y540 for $800 which has a lower end GTX 1650 dedicated GPU. It is still more than powerful enough for most modern games and only the most graphic intensive will have to be turned to medium or low settings.

If you prefer better screen quality, then I would recommend this Eluktronics mech g2 because it has great combination between value for money, weight, battery life, and performance. * It comes with GTX 1660Ti GPU, You can check the below link to see how the GTX 1660Ti * GPU (scroll down for the FPs and settings expected or ctrl+f then type the name of your game). https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-1660-Ti-Laptop-Graphics-Card.386426.0.html * Comes with 9th gen, i7 hexa core CPU which is powerful for your usage. * Very good sRGB coverage which is suitable for photo editing.
It has 3 USB type A, Ethernet, and mic and headphone jack and on the back an HDMI, and USB type C.
Screen is IPS with 144Hz refresh rate, with impressively small bezels, and a professional design.
Lid can't be open with one hand.
Fans get loud under intensive work, but that is normal with every good gaming laptop.
Plenty of upgrade options as the chassis supports up to 32GB of ram, and 2 SSDs and 1 HDD.
Heat management is great, it can get hot but it gets cool again pretty quickly once the fans kick in.
Main con of the laptop is the trackpad, it is mediocre at best when you compare it to other laptops in the price range.
Battery life during normal usage is around 3.5-4.5 hours and 1.5 hour during gaming.
Speakers are down facing so during gaming, it is best to wear headphone since the fan gets loud during gaming as well.

Based on the following benchmarks, you need at least a GTX 1660 Ti or a Radeon Rx 580x GPU to get over 144 FPS at 1080p with medium settings. If you want to get over 144 FPS using high settings at 1080p then you will need a laptop with a GTX 2070 or better which is definitely going to be out of your range.

Or I would recommend this Eluktronics mech g2 because it has great combination between value for money, weight, battery life, and performance, plus with the current friday sale they are very similar to the acer :
https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-1660-Ti-Laptop-Graphics-Card.386426.0.html
It has 3 USB type A, Ethernet, and mic and headphone jack and on the back an HDMI, and USB type C.
Screen is IPS with 144Hz refresh rate, with impressively small bezels, and a professional design so it doesn’t have a Gamer-y look.

Value for money you can't do better than the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong>
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A bit more expensive but a better built laptop is the <strong>Eluktronics Mech-15 G2 Pro</strong>
Screen Size : 15 inches
Processor : 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
Graphics : NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti
RAM : 16 GB
Weight : 4.5 lbs
Storage Type : 512 GB SSD
Comments: This a good gaming laptop that has a clean and professional look. It has a fast SSD, full size keyboard andthe keys have a nice feel to them. This laptop is a cut above other gaming laptops at this price range because of its cooling system. If you are a student this may not be the ideal laptop for you as its battery life is around 4 hrs so you might have to find an outlet a few times a day.
Ah ok I found one for about 1400 Candaian or a little over 1000 usd https://www.amazon.ca/Acer-Predator-15-6inch-Display-i7-9750H/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=Acer+Predator+Helios+300+Gaming&qid=1573065665&sr=8-3

Ah, it’s alright. I appreciate the suggestions. I’ve been looking at the Helios but i’m also just tryna see if there are any “better deals.”
The best option right now is the Acer predator it's an amazing deal and I don't think it will last long .
Hi, within budget, the <strong>MSI GL65</strong> is an option, but it doesn't have a 144Hz panel. With a 144Hz panel, keep your eye on the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> for Black Friday. The <strong>Legion Y540</strong> is another option, but it's not likely to drop more in price.

I assume you are talking about this acer if so then it is not just all hype or because of the price it was already a good catch before the sale, not it is a great catch, it has good build quality and very good heat mangement.
However, if you want to check out other options then I would recommend this Eluktronics mech g2 because it has great combination between value for money, weight, battery life, and performance. * It comes with GTX 1660Ti GPU, You can check the below link to see how the GTX 1660Ti GPU (scroll down for the FPs and settings expected or ctrl+f then type the name of your game).

Acer Predator Helios 300 is about $1090 USD depending on the model which is somewhere around 1000 euros -
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0DS4DbP27X4TG
I'm looking to upgrade my laptop. It still works but the screen flickers black sometimes and it's recently started to sometimes drop to 15fps and get super hot for like 5 or 10 minutes and then go back to normal.
I've got an Inspiron 7559, it's got an I7-6700HQ @ 2.60GHz, 16GB of RAM(came with 8, I added another 8) and a GTX 960M. I'd like something better, nothing too crazy but good enough to last for at least 4 or 5 years and to run games that come out in those years.
These are the ones I'm currently looking at:
Helios 300: I7-9750H, GTX 1660TI 6GB, 16GB RAM, 256 SSD.
Triton 700: I7-7700HQ, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD.
Lenevo Legion Y540: I5-9300H, RTX 2060 6GB, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD & 256GB SSD (Strongly leaning towards this one, I can get it for $950-ish.)
Asus Zenbook Pro Duo: I7-9750H, RTX 2060, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD. (I'll only get this if it goes down to $1k or less on a sale and if I don't get something sooner.)
Any suggestions? I honestly just might get the Y740 since its the cheapest and I don't know if my laptop will last much longer.
Hi, the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> is the main device to look at, or the <strong>ASUS TUF FX505DV</strong> with an RTX 2060.
Here are some options that match your Description:
Acer Helios 300 price: $1100 (best option)
ASUS ROG G531GT price: $830
Ideapad L340 price: $716
Lenovo Thinkpad E590 price: $700 (second best option, if there is no need for a dedicated GPU)
Acer Swift 3 price: $700

If you could push your budget a little then this is your best option it comes with great value for money, it has high refresh rate with 1080 resolution like you wanted and it is just about 5 lbs.
If you can't push your budget then your second best option is this Acer Nitro 5 because of the following:
Ram is easily upgradeable, SSD is also upgradable but it needs a little more work.
Keyboard is backlit chiclet keyboard (only red) and it can be turned on and off, with good travel and precision.
Touchpad supports multi-touch gestures and it is big enough to use them, with clear pressure point.
Screen is not super bright, so it might struggle in direct sunlight, and color coverage is also not great but slightly above average at 40% RGB and 62% sRGB.
Screen doesn't have Screen flickering / PWM and it has IPS panel so the viewing angles are great, but response time is not great too.
CPU throttle a little and gets hot (to the point that it is painful to use on your lap), but for general usage and most games it shouldn't have a big negative impact.
GPU is powerful enough to run Runescape on medium to high settings, you can view the expected FPs from this link
https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-1050-Ti-Notebook.168400.0.html
Fan noise is very low during idle or light usage, but rather loud during gaming, but that is to be expected.
Battery life during non gaming usage is very good for a gaming laptop at around 5.5-6.5 hours. If you want to check similar option make sure to check my post a list of gaming laptops
then i would suggest saving money and buying one of these:
Acer Helios 300 price: $1100
Asus TUF FX505DT price: $700
Acer Swift 3 price: $700
Thanks for the comment Lewis.
When posted this i just looked at the specs. In that i mean like the basic not the generation or how high the number is. I still have no idea what the difference between a 1660ti and 1650ti. What i mean is i understand the higher the number the better but not really sure performance wise.
I talked to people on the discord and they helped me decide what laptop to get and how to solve me problem.
I am going to get the Helios 300 with a M.2 Sabrent 1TB SSD and a Heatsink for the SSD.
More info needed like weight, screen size..etc.

One of the best options in that budget range is this 2019 Acer Predator Helios with the 1660 Ti graphics card , 144 Hz display, 256 GB SSD and of course, it handles heat pretty well. It would do a decent job for you. This Lenovo Legion has a more powerful graphics card and bigger storage and hence, would perform better generally, but I would recommend you do a slight undervolting of processor to handle its heat..NB: The Acer predator comes undervolted.
How much do you value lighter weight ? if it is not a big deal then This acer is going to be your best option since it offer great value for money, if you are willing to pay more for better weight and battery life then I would recommend this Eluktronics mech g2 because it has great combination between value for money, weight, battery life, and performance. It comes with GTX 1660Ti GPU, You can check the below link to see how the GTX 1660Ti GPU (scroll down for the FPs and settings expected or ctrl+f then type the name of your game). https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-1660-Ti-Laptop-Graphics-Card.386426.0.html Comes with 9th gen, i7 hexa core CPU which is powerful for your usage. Very good sRGB coverage which is suitable for photo and video editing. The outer shell is made almost entirely out of metal. Keyboard is mechanical with RGB backlit. It has 3 USB type A, Ethernet, and mic and headphone jack and on the back an HDMI, and USB type C.

I have been looking at purchasing a laptop and was going to purchase this, which is shipping from USA whilst i am in UK. The exact same laptop on the uk store is here at more than double the price, so my question is, if i order from usa how much would the shipping and import be if there is any at all? as on other items/laptops that are coming from the USA such as this one, it tells me how much the shipping charge would be upfront ( + GBP 329.59 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit to United Kingdom ) where at the first link doesnt have anything written after the price. Any help appreciated, Thanks.
If you can push your budget a little I think this configuration of the acer would be your best option, but if 1k is your absolute max then this one is your next best one.
Like the other comment said this might be your best option but if you can push your budget a little higher, in exchange for better weight and battery life then I would recommend this I would recommend this Eluktronics mech g2 because it has great combination between value for money, weight, battery life, and performance. * It comes with GTX 1660Ti GPU, You can check the below link to see how the GTX 1660Ti * GPU (scroll down for the FPs and settings expected or ctrl+f then type the name of your game). https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-1660-Ti-Laptop-Graphics-Card.386426.0.html * The outer shell is made almost entirely out of metal.

would recommend Acer Predator over HP Omen obviously.
Here is a link to both if you want more detailed look :) Helios 300: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-78VL/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=helios+300&qid=1570050346&sr=8-3
I buying a new laptop and I need some help. It’s currently between the Helios 300: ($1,100) https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-78VL/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=helios+300&qid=1570050346&sr=8-3

I want the best value for money, they both have very good reviews online/YouTube. The Eluktroniks comes with a i5-9400 CPU while the Helios has a i7-9750h. Which cpu is better for gaming? And which laptop would you pick overall for value when it come to gaming only. (17” is more appealing to me as I will be using at home mostly but can’t find Helios with good deal 17”)
Thanks guys
This comes with quad core i5, so it should be ok, but now that I look at your requirement again, you don't need to settle for a quad core since you don't care that much for weight and battery life, so I would change my recommendation to this acer as it offers great value for money, and great specs you can read more about it on this list of best gaming laptops under 1500.
Well its up to you if you want an pc or a laptop. Personally i prefer a desktop since it performs better. But here are your options.

I think this should be more than enough for Total War: Warhammer 2 on 1080p and max settings! I suggest lowering or turning off anti-aliasing and the anisotropic filtering and you should get an average of 60+ fps and above!
Enjoy!
It is hard to find a "good battery" on a gaming laptop but if this is your max budget then your best option is likely this acer as it offers great value for money, and great specs you can read more about it on this list of best gaming laptops under 1500.
Hi, the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> is a solid option for you. 15.6" 1080p IPS 144Hz display, i7 processor, GTX 1660 Ti graphics card, 16 GB RAM, and an SSD. Sadly, no RTX graphics card in this range.
Any thoughts on this one? Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop PC, 15.6" Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display, Intel i7-9750H, GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 16GB DDR4, 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, Backlit Keyboard, PH315-52-78VL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_o21rDbQ0P5GQF

In that budget range and based on specs you want, this Acer Predator Helios 300 is one of the top picks..
You can actually upgrade to the more recent model of the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong>, which has the stronger 6-core i7-9750H processor and a GTX 1660 Ti graphics card.
If you want something for gaming then go for a 15.6 inches system as that's where you will find the required gaming specs. For the games you will be playing, this Acer Predator Helios 300 will run them very well and its battery life its battery life is better than other systems with similar specs.
Ok, so Im not quite sure where you are that the Helios 300 models are so expensive, but heres one that goes for 1200usd. Its basically number 3 with a 144hz display. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-78VL/dp/B07QXLFLXT
But at your pricerange, the trition 500 may be a better option, its significantly thinner and more portable than the helios, and has all the specs that you wanted, starting at a 2060 model. They usually go for around 1700usd, but Im not sure what itll go for where you are, considering the prices of the helios models listed above. Heres a link to that laptop: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PT515-51-75BH/dp/B07QVM5Z5H/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=trition+500&qid=1567003218&s=electronics&sr=1-1
And yes, 144hz is a big deal, especially for FPS games. Its actually really jarring when I switch from my desktops 144hz 1440p display to my laptops 1080p 60hz panel. I cant play FPS titles at a reasonable level anymore when I am on a 60hz panel.

Edit: Heres a link to all the helios models, with full spec lists to help you find what you want:

heres the same link for the triton 500:

If you don't mind stepping up your budget, then the Helios 300 would be a good choice for you. As it consist of 1660ti which is new, powerful and has a 6gb VRAM, wonderful IPS screen display, latest 9th gen i7 processor, only drawback is 5 hours of battery life.
So basically, you want the best performing system in that budget range ? If so, I would look into something like this Acer Predator Helios
If you can make do with a 15.6" display, I'd recommend Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 model, I've only heard praises of it, haven't used one myself. You can go ahead and look at it's reviews to see if it fits you.

Great post! Like a lot of people here, I am in need of a gaming laptop for college for around $1,000 and I've been recommended the Acer Helios 300 (2019) and the Lenovo Legion Y7000. At the moment, I'm favoring the Helios 300 due to Jarrod Tech's video on it, but at the same time, I am very much attracted to the thin bezels of the Y7000. I don't know, what do you think?
this version ? if that is the one then go for it, great value for money.
I would seriously appreciate some help deciding between some of these options:
My priorities are:
You looking at this one? If so only downside it only has the one 256 ssd in it but does have an open space for another ssd or a hdd. But drives are pretty cheap especially a large hhd.
Hey sure here you go:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QXLFLXT/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
or
(I couldn't find any website showing the Y540 but here you go) https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/legion-laptops/legion-y-series/Lenovo-Legion-Y540-15/p/88GMY501214
can customize the lenovo from the website.
I'm in the same boat as you man. Rn I'm looking at either an Acer Predator Helios 300 (2019) or a Lenovo Legion Y7000. If you're looking for value for money, once prime day or August comes, then this one should be the one. However, if I was in your situation, then I'd go with the Lenovo, since it's generally thinner and it seems like a lighter laptop (plus it's cheaper).
$1579?
Well Helios 300 with 9750H, 144Hz, 1660ti is comparable by performance and is just $1179 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=dp_cr_wdg_tit_nw_ls
As someone whose initial budget was $750, and then went up to $1000, and now it's $1300 all in, I 100% agree with this (unless there is some limiting factor like the money is coming from a bonus income source or you need it by a certain date.) I would rather not have to buy another laptop in a year or two because I bought one that will quickly become outdated or will break easily. I would also like to maximize my enjoyment out of something I waited a long time for and saved up money for.
OP, I know it sucks having to wait even longer when you already have your mind set on something but as someone who was in your shoes not too long ago, I think it is worth it. I was initially going to go with the Acer Nitro 5 for around $700 and I could have had it last month. The more research I did, the more I became convinced that it would definitely be worth it to just wait and save some more. I had to make a lot of cutbacks this month and next month will be really tight for me, but I should be able to order my laptop a week from Friday. Honestly, the wait and anticipation has made me even more excited for this purchase. If you are able to I highly recommended bumping your budget up a little bit. I eventually decided on the Acer Predator Helios 300 for just under $1200 and from everything I have been reading, it is well built and is a steal at that price.
In this price range the Acer Predator Helios 300 holds the crown the 9th Gen CPU with the GTX 1660Ti and the improved cooling system gives a great performance and except the bottom it's all metal .

Gaming laptop for Classic WoW. Needs good WiFi module, CPU and a 250GB SSD. GPU does not need to be super high end. Amazon, Newegg or BestBuy as I have credit cards with them. Was thinking about this:
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-78VL/dp/B07QXLFLXT
Budget: $1200 max
Country: US
Screen size: 15"
Screen resolution: 1080p @ 144Hz
Touch screen: no
Weight: on the lighter side - will use mainly when traveling
I feel like I shouldn't tell you this, out of fear that it will run out of stock before I can get it.
But I am also looking for a gaming laptop, and found this link in the comments of the 2019 May 20 post. It has i7-9th gen cpu, GTX 1660 ti. The deal is so good I'm suspicious about it.
It is currently out of stock. I have been refreshing the page continuously.
It's available now.

I run R studio and program on other anaconda platforms. Not sure about video editing though. I have a shitty dell Inspiron 7559. It has core i5-6300 H and an Nvidia 960m. I can play most games, but can use any programming platform.
I'd suggest going for a gaming laptop.
Try this one.
There is a new Helios 300 2019, literally new, it just come up this month with a better cooling, better graphic card and better processor. You can find the basic version it on amazon; the $200 extras seems worth it, or if you are in the US and have prime, maybe there could be a discount on prime day next month
For a hundred dollars more you can get a full 1660 ti and a much better processor in the newer the predator Helios 300 but it is still in pre-order. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-78VL/dp/B07QXLFLXT
Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop PC, 15.6 inches Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display, Intel i7-9750H, GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 16GB DDR4, 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, Backlit Keyboard, PH315-52-78VL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_SVy5Db01SSSE2
Or this for cheaper and out performs an x1x
I know this isn’t Alienware but the Acer Predator Helios 300 is on sale on amazon for $930 USD for Black Friday and fulfills all of requirements : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_RoD4Db0ZT8PZ1
Since you are looking for best bang for buck then I would recommend this Acer Predator Helios 300 because it is one of the few that it will come with 144Hz in this price range, plus it comes i7 hexa core CPU which is one of the best in your budget and great for your usage, 8 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading, and it is within your budget.
There's two that I was researching, both with Nvidia Geforce 1660ti GPUs:
I ultimately went with the Acer because the Intel chip is at this time better than the AMD one in the ASUS. The R7-3750H isn't a Zen2 chip like you would expect it to be by the 3xxx name.
We've had it for a couple of weeks now, and it rocks in Destiny 2 at high settings.
but in amazon Helios 300, selling at around 82K. That's why i was wondering after customs charge will it worth it to buy from usa.
Helios 300 (2019) would give best bang for your buck. And will let you play all games up to date on atleast high
