Sorry, could you rephrase that? I'm not sure what this means. As mrCloggy already described, the telescope has a small mirror in the front that reflects the light back to the focuser again. This system makes this particular type of telescope so compact.

In the other direction, does it get smaller again? Or never quite reaches the smallest point and just gets bigger?
Does it have a diagonal? Does it have a barlow? Never use the barlow before the diagonal, then things like you describe can happen.
If the diagonal is missing, you can still focus, but you'll have to turn the focuser quite a bit to achieve focus.
If you really tinkered with the eyepiece and made it unusable, do not fear; You could get some decent eyepieces that don't break the bank.
