There were movies in the late 60s and early seventies were the protagonist raped people. High Plains Drifter is the most shocking. Eastwood rapes a women as a part his violent retribution against a town. He clearly is the hero as much as Eastwood is the hero of any of his spaghetti westerns.
"Against our Will" is good on this. The culture was out of control on the issue of rape. Actual rape rates reached their peak as well. There were sinister forces at work.
