Greetings, Matt! ~~You have two T's in your first name, then two S's, and finish off with two 'L's. Then Cassian gets two 'S's! Maybe some of the rest of us want some consonants?~~
You begin your chapters with quotes from histories or biographies from different characters, such as when Kota writes that he never thought Cassian was the 'Greatest Evil the World had ever Seen'.
Dune used to do that; and Jack Vance in some of his books. It gives the feel you are reading a history that has multiple views to the same events and people. Adds dimension, I think.
More people over at Wattpad should visit r/fantasy.
Edited to add the question I always wanted to ask Herbert and Vance:
How much did you actually write out of the texts/histories/bios that you quote at the chapter starts?

Age of Asango, by Matt Russell
Age of Asango is an epic fantasy by debut indie author with 2 books released in the last 60 days. All 3 - 5 star reviews on Amazon and Goodreads averaging 4.75 stars. Action-packed, character driven high fantasy in a unique second world. Written for adult, appropriate for readers of all ages. This is a high quality indie series with professional editing.
Some of my favorite reviews:
“Cassian is a hotheaded sorcerer bent on making the world a better place. He has good intentions but seems to brush up against powerful people who like the world the way it is.
It's intriguing and fun. It flowed well. The characters are all described and fleshed out. And it sets up nicely for book two!” -Amazon
“From the start, Age of Asango makes you interested in the characters and history of the Denigoth Empire, and I was not let you down as I began to uncover the depth and richness within. While I was simultaneously interested in many characters, I was impressed with how all of their individual paths intertwine into one, complex story.
This is definitely a worthwhile read that left me excited to continue with the trilogy.” -Amazon
Thank you for supporting indie authors!
I recommend Age of Asango for anyone who likes epic fantasy with modern themes and a unique world. YA friendly, intended for adults but lacks offensive content (sorry! Not sorry...).

It is an age of slavery, of magic, wonder, and racism...
The greatest threat to the order of the Denigoth Empire is a sixteen-year-old genius named Cassian Asango. Five years before, his parents were put to death for thought crimes. In the years since, Cassian has honed his tremendous talent for sorcery and dared to follow in his parents’ footsteps, speaking defiantly against the evils in his society. Many factions seek to kill him, but he is clever, resourceful, and far more dangerous than anyone anticipates.
Age of Asango: Book 1 is now on Amazon! Book 2 is already available for pre-order as well.

This epic fantasy is not too dark, not too juvenile, and offers plenty of action. Some magic, some dragons, some spiritualism--none of it overdone. It currently has a 4.86 rating on Goodreads from 23 reviewers. Here is a pretty nice review from Lana Gray: https://www.lanagrayauthor.com/blog/matt-russell-s-age-of-asango-book-1

Posting a review of my book Age of Asango: Book 1, which has a 4.8 average rating from 25 reviewers on Goodreads and is on the Top 100 New Releases in Epic Fantasy (Amazon, as of 10/22), released last week by Dragon Tooth Press (indie pub).

This recent review really describes this trilogy so much better than I ever have:
