These are all I use. I have one in each of my cars.
I don't even know if the gripper rests against the buttons, but if it does, it doesn't hit them hard enough to press them.
I have this one in our Sienna and our HL. I tried a few different ones and expected this to be junk but it's held up really well and works great for different phones.
Yeah! Keep an eye out - I love mine. It came with the 17mm ball joint - I also purchased this phone holder for it and it fits perfectly with it:
I bought this vent mount for my wife’s car and it works great.
Granted, while using you do that vent mostly obstructed. But I just checked the DeLorean dashboard and it shouldn’t obscure the view of the road. And while it’s not holding a phone, it will only obscure the vent slightly.
This thing is cheap and rock solid, very pleased with it after 6 months.

I had this iPhone mount on hand from my smartphone days and it actually works pretty well with my Light Phone. The little arms that are supposed to pop up and cradle the sides of the iPhone cradle the corners of the Light Phone. I imagine it might fall out if I hit any major potholes or sharp turns, but so far it has worked well for regular driving around town:

I used to have a windshield mount but my phone would constantly overheat even with the ac blasting in the car; I live in Florida. I switched to a vent mount so my ac blows directly on my phone all day, no more overheating. I recommended this one, easy to get the phone in and out which is a plus! https://www.amazon.com/AINOPE-Gravity-Upgraded-Compatible-Smartphone/dp/B089LDX88M
I use this one. Gets the job done

I got this one. I've been using it for a week without any issues. Perfect fit minus a case.
Here is the original mount as well as the 3D printed parts.

If you're ok with a vent mount option this works great for my P6P. Doesn't hold the phone in landscape however.
I’ve had good luck with this one in my G37. Just gotta make sure you adjust it at an angle that won’t give you any glare.

I do a lot of roadtrips around the US; so I have 2 alternatives that I have tried and am happy with. Both of these were unknown brands through Amazon; I didn't find the specific ones but did find similar units, sharing the links (and the details).
First off is a vent mount that has a "gravity mechanism" to hold the phone; a similar model to this one
https://www.amazon.com/AINOPE-Gravity-Upgraded-Compatible-Smartphone/dp/B089LDX88M
Note that if you have a thicker case (the type with slots for credit cards) it may not fit into the vent mount; on the other hand, the actual mount occupies less space.
I use this when using a rental car; the ability to easily push it into a convenient vent regardless of which vehicle I'm renting, without causing any marks on the car. OTOH - notwithstanding their claims of "not falling off" - I do find on occasion that it may fall off especially if the road has unexpected bumps.
The other one I use (primarily on my own vehicle, but could be carried around too) is a clip type holder that clips on the dashboard; I have this behind the steering wheel, so that I'm able to keep looking straight instead of having to look sideways at the display; I have a different one, but very similar to this.
https://www.amazon.com/JORCEDI-Universal-Dashboard-Non-Slip-Durable/dp/B096S6NRFS
Advantages : clip / clamp is more stable on the dashboard; position behind the steering wheel is more comfortable for the drive; the clip opens wider, and holds better regardless of the thickness of the case. The other BIG advantage is that I can put the phone horizontally instead of vertical; I prefer the map view that way.
Disadvantages : Unit is bigger (still small enough when folded that it can be taken along for travel); takes a couple of extra minutes to position initially, and since it's positioned behind the driving wheel I use a longer charging cable + sticky clips to route the cable around so that it won't interfere with driving. I don't use this for rental cars because constantly having to put / remove cable clips is a nuisance; but for my own car, it's the most convenient option.
I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089LDX88M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They also have a dash stick on version.
It's great I love how it grabs the phone via clamping by weight.
It will not work on phones with the sticky CC holders on the back because then the phone is too thick.

Make sure to read the comments on the use of a command strip to hold it in place.

This one
I use this guy. The newer phones don’t seem to hold as well with magnets anymore. I put it in the vent next to driver door
I use this in both my cars. It only holds the phone vertically though. So that may be an issue. Clips into air vents, holds position very well and doesn't interfere with buttons.
I love this one. Just drop the phone in.
I use a phone mount from ProClipUSA. They are pricey though. You’re basically paying for a car mount(specific to your make/model)and a phone mount(specific to your phone). I’ve used mine in my Jeep for over two years. Rarely have to adjust it and it has part of the AC vent blowing on it, which keeps the phone from over heating in a car in the summer. I also use a gravity phone holder for my work vehicle. It holds the phone well but you have to have regular horizontal AC vents.
I'm thinking this one, but it's hard to tell with the mazdas custom vents.
i've been using this "gravity" holder and it's been working well with my Pixel. it should work well for the Duo too but won't be sure until tomorrow :)
