I bought this AIRCARE Digital Whole-House Console-Style Evaporative Humidifier (Copper Night) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000D8EJV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_KBWE56PTG14GFC385KDY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 for my wife after she bought one that left White film/ dust on EVERYTHING. She maintains the whole thing and takes care of it and she loves it. No white stuff, does what it’s supposed to do. If you take care of things and maintain and use them correctly, they tend (most of the time) to work the way they were intended.
Humidify the room with one of these. I have one. They're great.
We had one too growing up. I did find one on Amazon.
You might also consider an evaporative humidifier. I have a unit like this one: https://www.amazon.com/AIRCARE-H12600-Whole-House-Console-Style-Evaporative/dp/B0000D8EJV/ Whch is basically just some fans that pull air through some wet filter material that hangs out in the water at the bottom. No splashing or droplets, and I just add some more water into the bottom every day or two.
Get rid of the dinky humidifiers and get a large console humidifier like this https://www.amazon.com/AIRCARE-H12600-Whole-House-Console-Style-Evaporative/dp/B0000D8EJV?th=1
