I don’t have experience organizing lego, but have you researched organization systems that are commonly marketed for nails and screws? Something like this looks like it could save you some space compared to the cups you have on the table.
I think this is why the other commenter said pricey.
Akro-Mils 64 Drawer 10164, Plastic Parts Storage Hardware and Craft Cabinet, (20-Inch W x 6-Inch D x 16-Inch H), Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LDH3JC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_EGPT59WJNE0G3SHTTG2K
I keep all my extra faceplates/parts in Akro Mills drawers:
Each drawer comfortably fits 4 faceplates, as well as the extra accessories/limbs.

I have a couple of these and love em. Each drawe can fit little over a bag of perler 1000 count. I then have a lable maker and put a lable on the drawer with the name of the color. But that is just how I do it
You can try this. You can get a 30 drawers version.
I sort most of my dice by set, but I also got a bunch of bulk dice that I store by type for when I'm DMing. The top 7 rows of my dice organizer are for individual sets, the bottom row is for the ones sorted by type and the one set that has a bunch of weird dice.
It's similar to this but I'm pretty sure it's not the exact same as mine since I sure as hell didn't pay $100 for it.
This is by far the best solution I've found: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LDH3JC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've gone through a few different storage solutions, and this has my favorite. Super easy to see all the colors and get right to work.
I'm a big fan of these drawers (or the different variations) for both miniatures and tokens.
Does it have to be this exact colour? They have these storage drawers on Amazon, Walmart, hardware stores, etc. Link to Amazon
I just got a couple of these
The little drawers come out so you can take it with you around the shop or house. I label them with sharpie where red is standard sizes, green is metric sizes, blue is other stuff.
I bought a few containers like this for all my electronic components and have never gotten around to actually putting anything in it. All my parts are still in baggies sitting in bins. I’m always working on a new project and I get so excited that I procrastinate organizing. The big bin method works for me because it doesn’t take that much effort to put stuff away but I can still find things.
Not specifically for single projects, but these are great for overall organization.

I've got a couple of these I can fit little over a thousand beads in one draw and I label each draw. I dont know what kind of bead u are gonna use. Ive only used perler. Stick with name brand on beads for sure perler, hama, Artkal etc. I tried an off brand that didn't have a name when I started horrible. Also I buy my bulk perler beads on its web site so prob do same with others. Simply they run promo and anything over 60 u.s. dollars free shipping. I buy some of the 6000 count on amazon for around 9 or 10 u.s. dollars. Watch videos. And look into tape method it will save your boards from warping. Do small projects first to get a feel and learn your iron
The Racco ones are probably expensive, but the Cocraft ones I got was cheap. You can probably get some off-brand on Amazon.
Thank you kindly; I can’t wait, either! What I’m using for storage is this:
Each container is perfect for holding 1000 beads, and you can even mount it to the wall or leave it sitting on your work space!
Akro-Mils 10164 is what I use. They're stackable, good in terms spacial economy, and not too expensive if you order a bundle. Each small drawer can easily fit two 18-25mm figures but you'll have to buy or make dividers if you want to keep everything separate within each drawer. I've nearly filled mine and I'm very happy with what I've got.
I'm months late to your post, but is this the ones that you bought? https://www.amazon.com/Akro-Mils-10164-Plastic-Storage-Hardware/dp/B000LDH3JC
How have you liked them over the last few months since your post? I'm just starting to buy Lego in bulk and really need some storage options.
I do not really plan to take my box for a ride often. But when I do I usually don't need many minis. You probably will never have a playsession where you need ALL the Monsters and Nemeses. You usually need 1-2 Monsters, maybe a Nemesis, and 4 starting survivors.
I, hovever recently got myself a drawer Storage like this one to store all the magnetised bodyparts and weapons. So it'll be easy to transport is as a whole.
I might build some magnetic tray / Box for the monsters too at some point... But currently I store them in a showcase
I just use one from Joannes and fits maybe half a bag? It's an Artbin one. It's not huge, but that's ok for me. I just keep the rest in their own ziploc bags.
A lot of people around here seem to go with Akro Mills I think they hold the 1k bags pretty well.
Honestly, it's a lot more simple then you'd think. Basically all you need to do is find a sprite you want to work on. Then the most basic thing you can do is load it into Paint, zoom in and select the grid line tool. It's that simple. Or if you head to r/beadsprites, they have a program called beadsurge, which allows you load, change, and see how different colors would look on your piece. And the unit I store in is quite common in the Perler community. I got it here: http://www.amazon.com/Akro-Mils-10164-Plastic-Storage-Hardware/dp/B000LDH3JC/ref=pd_bia_nav_t_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1V76WBYXS9734JEMHYQP
I have a couple of these. Sorted by color and die type. I had to overflow my green d10s into a second drawer.
Arko-Mils has a similar one for quite a bit cheaper on Amazon https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000LDH3JC/

Thanks! I'm hoping I can pull off a decent finish. Nervous about the ironing phase since this will be my largest project to date. As for the organizer I came across them in post on this sub from a few years back. Here's the link to it on Amazon

The drawers perfect fit a 1000 pack of beads. I just cut the names of the colors off the bags and tape them to drawers and then organize them in a rainbow spectrum.

64 drawers vs 60 in an 8x8 grid. The akro-mils look very nice stacked with thinner bezels, IMO. If you catch the used price on amazon just right, they are fairly inexpensive. I also print labels from https://brickarchitect.com/labels/ for them. They have done an incredible job creating very nice labels if you have one of the supported labelers. I'm still organizing, but it's coming along quite nicely.

I think this is what you're looking for - I love them!
They brand is Akro-Mils, I got two of the 64-drawer option. Each drawer fits a little over 1000 beads. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LDH3JC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_GHKGSB5B70S0JCK28SG1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
i use this from Amazon each bin fits a 1000 bead bag- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LDH3JC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (but it has to stay upright, Beads will spill if tilted)

Apparently they have a newer version now, so the old version (pictured) is only $28! I may buy one or two more now.

While not exact, but it's a spectacular price ($28 currently). I had a couple already but I bought two more today.
Here's a (sold) listing for one.
The closest modern equivalent would probably be a parts cabinet like these:

A lot of people like this when they have their floss on bobbins.
When I started, I had enough to make a few of each item. With my necklaces, I had more posted than I had materials for (I only kept 10-15 chains on hand). As I made sales, and figured out what people liked, I would order more. I still start small when making new collections. I always need to remind myself, that just because I fall in love with a new design, that doesn't mean my buyers will too. I'm a few years in and full-time, so my inventory is massive.
I keep chains and findings bagged. For beads and charms, I use the same containers from Michael's that are linked in another comment. Each container is organized by either color or theme and labelled. I keep them stacked on a bookshelf, so labelling helps to not search 20+ containers looking for a single item. I label pretty much anything I can. Life is so much easier that way.
I use this for my stamping blanks: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LDH3JC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_HAgkFb36BEFB1
I also use these containers for completed items: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005H3GAM2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_6EgkFbF1BNR6D
This cart is also great for organization: https://www.michaels.com/10-drawer-rolling-cart-by-recollections/M20002051.html
I have two of these carts. One holds various materials, and the other is my work cart. My work cart has all my tools, and materials for the most commonly ordered items as well as whatever I am currently prepping. This is basically the cart that I take all over the house with me.
This is what I store all my boxes and shipping materials on: https://www.lowes.com/pd/COMMANDER-20-in-D-x-48-in-W-x-72-in-H-5-Tier-Plastic-Freestanding-Shelving-Unit/1000626245
I also have one that I put the sterilite containers on (those I also label with what is in them).
Try not to go overboard with supplies while you are getting set up. You don't really want to end up with boxes of stuff that doesn't sell or doesn't fit your vision.
I know it needs organization. Out of sight is 8 of these storing components. I need to get 2 or 3 more.
Amazon. rubytangelo nailed it. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LDH3JC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Small pieces: Akro mills 64 drawer storage drawers. Sort by shape and consider grouping similar parts.
Medium pieces: Akro Mills 24 drawer storage drawers.
Large pieces: Just get 2-gallon buckets with lids from your local hardware store.
Labeling: Take photos of each part on a white background. Cutout the part from each photo and tape or glue it on the front of each drawer.

I just bought this
I bought two, actually! I grabbed this one for smaller batches of lesser used colors. The one in the picture is the only one with beads in it currenly, and it's this one with bigger drawers on the bottom for my large amounts of neutral colors like black, brown, white, or peach variants for skintones!
Watch out for ziplock backs. They are not meant to store things for long periods of time. Notice how they get sticky over a few months. The ideal way too store large cables is to get pallet rap and wrap them up and place them in in with either tuperwear/rubbermaid containers or for smaller parts, user playing card holder sheets such as illustrated in the wiki:
Also Akro-Mils component holdersd are great.
I don't know if you need the amount of storage but I personally use this one from Amazon, which looks like this once it is all setup. The individual containers slide out from the base and you can swap in and out. The individual containers don't have tops so if you knock it over they will spill but if you put it on a table where you don't move it you don't have to worry about it all that much. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions feel free to pm me.
Edit: words
I've got this one and each container holds a little more than 1000 midi beads
Hey, it's all personal preference. I find it easier to scan through 64 drawers (well 32 for the big ones I suppose) than the Plano type boxes. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. Speaking of dividers, the Akro ones are pricey, but since it's for a 3d printer ...

>I think the big question when it comes to component organization is portable or not? If portable there are some good (and cheap!) options like card binders and tackle boxes, which other people have suggested.
Portable is a big factor when considering how you will store stuff. I wouldn't dismiss it as an issue but I tend to see storage density as a bigger factor. It might not look that way when you are first starting out but as you collect more stuff space usage has to be managed.
>I'm currently getting my bench set up where I'll be doing most of my electronics and I'm finding it a bit trickier to do without spending a bunch. I'll probably get drawer organizers with as many drawers as possible for components like resistors, caps, and inductors.
Actually for resistors, diodes and LEDs I'd argue against that type of storage. The problem is this if you want to keep them organized you need individual bins per size or part number. If you don't things get mixed up and degrade from there. Even if you only stock the most common sizes of resistors you will end up with dozens of parts to organize. That leads to buying many drawer assemblies and using up a lot of space for a few parts. That doesn't mean you won't need the storage for other things though. Capacitors and inductors, especially in their more bulky variants would go well in such storage.
>I think first-order retrievability is a worthy consideration when it comes to tools, including dev boards.
if you don't need portability having tools directly accessible on the work bench can be a huge advantage. There is good reason woodworkers from the 1800's had huge walls of tools with the common tools right near their work benches.
The only thing that is different here is that makers often leave their benches for maker spaces or field work on their projects. That is when a portable tool box becomes so handy. These days though it doesn't even need to be a tool "box", it can just as well be a bag or even a tool backpack.
>At work I have plastic bins in all kinds of sizes and those work well. They offer good compartmentalization and organization but because they're open and have the shorter front they're easy to look into and access, or move to a bench, etc.
They are expensive though even at Wall Mart in the plastic variants. Plus you need a wall rack or shelving unit to store them. Stacking the plastic variants up one on top of the other is a pure trouble, believe me I've tried this with smaller units and it can lead to swearing and vulgarity when you want to take the bottom bin to the bench while avoiding spilling the rest. If you go with the cardboard ones or even the plastic ones you really need to build a shelving unit optimized for the size of the bins you buy. They are a good idea though, we have used the cardboard variants for stuff not used frequently at work.
If you want the ones with the wider drawers, those are on the "others also bought.." I say, at least have one with the wider drawers.
I don't know the exact model, but I have something like this.
Looking on Amazon, the 1st set of comparable drawers i saw was Akro-Mils 10164 64 Drawer Plastic Parts Storage Hardware and Craft Cabinet, 20-Inch by 16-Inch by 6-1/2-Inch, Black this is a 64 drawer system for $30 and you would need 3 to hit the same capacity
You have something that suits your need exactly (and the 3d printed labels are a nice touch)
