I would say ... Alfred book provide a progression for learning fundamental concepts and skills and music for the practice of these elements. But, this is not enough . In parallel You need to play much bigger number of songs outside of Alfred book and practice sight reading.
If you want To make practice time more fun and enjoyable .
Check out 'Adult Greatest Hits 'as a supplementary book.
