Could anyone elaborate on the difference between the skillet the OP listed (41126) and their other 12" skillet, the 4112?
I've seen in the specifications that their weights/total dimensions are slightly different, but other than that I can't seem to find why the 41126 is $30 more expensive.
edit: wrong link
Without giving specific recommendations a good stainless steel pan will have 3 main features to look for
If you want specific suggestions this All clad is expensive but will last forever and work great and I use this Tratomina, It's quite a bit cheaper but is still going to last for years and works great though is certainly not quite as pretty as the all clad version.
Some have the layers sandwiched (clad) all the way throughout the pan. Some have it only on the bottom portion, and not up the sides of the pan. It's the latter that you should avoid, and is usually the cheapest.
All-Clad is a brand name, but they have the feature you should look for, typically called "fully clad", or something to that effect.
I see the Tramontina 12" SS pan is only $50 on Amazon, that's probably the cheapest I'd go. If you look at the first picture, you can see that it is a fully clad pan. The 3 layers of SS, aluminum, SS are visible on the edge, which is normal.
But, if you have the budget, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the All-Clad for $160. Their pans are amazing, it's the most nonstick experience I've had with SS pans. And they have a lifetime warranty.
they ARE allclad and not a knock off right?
If you were looking for ss pans and if they're indeed all clad and if they're indeed in good shape, I would say get both.
