Allclad d3 stainless has become my new “nonstick” and is what I recommend regularly.
This one specifically and it will become a family heirloom.
If you just have to have an actual nonstick, get a cheap one one. They all last about the same time before you end up chunking them for a new one, and is the reason I ONLY use mine for heavy sugar or super sticky stuff.
All-Clad D3 Stainless Cookware, 12-Inch Fry Pan with Lid, Tri-Ply Stainless Steel, Professional Grade, Silver, Model: 41126 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FUF5K8W/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_EBR620DM7DBVTHD13YB9. Also. Go to Marshalls and get non stick skillets for stuff like fried rice and eggs. I got an all clad non stick from Marshalls for 16 bucks.
My first preference was all clad 12” with lid. Was put off by the sides, totally confused now.
Sure! I have an earlier version of the All-Clad pan: https://www.amazon.com/All-Clad-Stainless-Dishwasher-Tri-Ply-Bonded/dp/B00FUF5K8W
I also have the saute pan. I don't love having two pans, but we cook at home a lot and I use them both all the time.
I completely forgot having one of most of the first place. You should get a cast iron pan, and learn how to answer you yet! Wtf did they put bidet's in them. https://www.amazon.com/All-Clad-Stainless-Dishwasher-Tri-Ply-Bonded/dp/B00FUF5K8W/. On one hand is bound to work.
I personally have two of these and do almost all of my cooking in them.

On one hand they will last for ages but on the other hand they are waaaay more expensive than non sticks.
Oh and good stainless steel pans used correctly don't have sticking issues.
I got the two pans for free from my uncle's restaurant that closed down if you are wondering why I have them =p
I never got into sets personally. There are always pieces I never use.
For starters, you could get one of these 12" pans for about $100 and it'll last you a lifetime. Then add a saucepan, then a high-sided saute pan, etc until you have what you need.
I tend to cheap out on non-stick pans, only because they have a limited life span and I don't use them very often. But stainless pans I go as high quality as I can and buy it once.
You make a fair point. Good news is the 12" pan is 50% off on amazon.

Awesome man, I'm glad I'm helping people. FYI- the 12" pan is 50% off on amazon right now.

Scrambled straight out of the fridge. Maybe 5 minutes from fridge to pan.
Does anyone know the why the All Clad 12 Inch Skillet with lid is priced as $60 cheaper than the one without a lid? The models on Amazon are 4112 and 41126.

I have the same thing.
Maybe I just need to hike up the burner more...
All-Clad 41126 Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Bonded Dishwasher Safe Fry Pan with Lid
If you want something cheaper some people in /r/Cooking recommends the Tramontina brand (I haven't used this brand)
This is the one I found on amazon Tramontina Gourmet Prima 18/10 Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Base 12-Inch Fry Pan If you are lucky costco sometimes sell this brand for cheaper than amazon (about $36). Just make sure it is rated for up to 500f. Walmart carries this same brand but theirs can only go up to 350f.
Sorry, I can't really help with finding a wok but you can probably search /r/cooking to find a good one
I use my All-Clad pans 4-5 times a week, had them over ten years and they're still in great shape. I think Calphalon is made in China now.
Also, I don't buy sets because I find that there are always a couple pieces I rarely use. A 12" skillet (with lid), a deep-walled saute pan (I have a 3 quart and I use it a lot; it also has a lid), a 10" non-stick for eggs and fish, and a 12" cast iron pan are all the skillet-type things I use. Except for the non-stick (I don't even recall what brand it is, I think it might be Kitchenaid), they'll all outlive me.
I just acquired them over time, but I haven't had to buy much new stuff for years. A new non-stick pan every so often and that's it.
Anyway, here's a decent deal: http://www.amazon.com/All-Clad-Stainless-Tri-Ply-Dishwasher-Cookware/dp/B00FUF5K8W to get started.
