Hey! You did buy the right type of bandaids and they’ll definitely work, personally I prefer this brand:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D1CT9DX?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I buy these whenever I see the price drop and order a bunch at a time. Love to keep them on hand for not only pimples but also for cuts and bug bites. I’m a chronic picker and these help stop me picking and speeds up the healing time.
I get them off Amazon. Search for "hydrocolloid bandages" and you'll find many listings. I use this one:
All Health All Health Advanced Fast Healing Hydrocolloid Gel Bandages, Regular 20 ct | 2X Faster Healing for First Aid Blisters or Wound Care, 20 Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D1CT9DX/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_0W6JM2518XBDHQ6N5K6D?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
First get her bile levels checked to rule out cholestasis (extreme itching can be a sign), then see either a dermatologist or an ENT. For now she should keep hydrocolloid bandages over the itchy area, which can be bought at any drugstore.
They help me a ton! They provide me a physical barrier so that I dont touch or pick certain bad spots, and they also lock in moisture and so the pick spot heals faster. If you like them, I highly recommend looking instead for hydrocolloid bandages that are marketed for wound and burne care. Its the exact same thing as the little round stickers for pimples, but They are cheaper and they come in larger sheets that I personally just cut to the right size, and for whatever reason they dont fall off as easy as some of the other little pimple stickers I've tried. I get these ones on Amazon, they are about the size of normal bandaids :) https://www.amazon.com/All-Health-Advanced-Healing-Regular/dp/B07D1CT9DX/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=hydrocolloid+bandages&qid=1604952731&sr=8-3
I get these exact same kind in my armpit! Once they empty out like that I put one of these on there and leave it on until it either falls off or it's full (they swell and turn white with drainage/healing). It's the only thing that brings me some comfort during the raw healing phase!
I use these! They are pretty big (0.83 x 1.65 inches), I usually cut them to size as needed but I also will slap the whole thing on my face if the situation is dire and it covers a good amount, lol
I've been using the "advanced care" style bandages for blisters lately and they do a good job. They're waterproof once you've had them on an hour or so, and they stick really well.
Make sure the area is clean and dry before applying one. Hold it down with your hand for the first minute so that it can warm and stick. After that you are golden.
Seems to heal about 25% faster than regular bandages and twice as fast as no bandage.
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/All-Health-Advanced-Healing-Regular/dp/B07D1CT9DX
I've used other brands and they work similarly.
Hydrocoloid bandages (blister bandaids) might offer you a lot of relief for your lesions and possibly maybe even help prevent them from spreading since it provides a secure seal around the wound.
That’s what I used on a MRSA pimple and I swear it gave me so much peace of mind. They’re so comfortable and feel like a second skin and they also help promote wound healing and reduce scarring.
You can get a bulk pack on Amazon for like $10: link
These are on my wish list and I've gotten them before. Good for oweies around an inch in size or less. They also have a version you can wrap around fingers.
Yes! If you’re open wounds are around the size of a US Quarter, these are the ones I usually get. (20ct for ~$9.50USD)
These things are like little miracle vacuums! They also help your wounds scab up so they stop leaking. Best advice for using these: Let the bandaid stay until it if falls off, they can stick for up to a week. But usually with a groin area one, it will stay for about 1-3 days (cause walking, friction, sweating, etc). They also work super well for larger white head face acne.
Hydrocolloid bandages! i use these. I, personally, put on the hydrocolloid bandages until they fall off or swell with white puss underneath pull off gently by stretching it along the skin, clean with alcohol, and pop another one on or let it dry out with a piece of cotton if needed. you can shower with the bandage on and they reduce a lot of the tenderness
hydrocolloid bandages! i use these see a doctor/ dermatologist asap and take pictures in case it is not inflamed when you get there. In my personal experiences , i would avoid homemade pastes and squeezing the area, i personally put on the hydrocolloid bandages until they fall off or swell with white puss underneath pull off gently by stretching it along the skin, clean with alcohol and pop another one on or let it dry out with a piece of cotton if needed. you can shower with the bandage on and they reduce a lot of the tenderness
So I have a skin condition where I get cystic type lesions. These have been a huge life saver for me! It’s like the acne patches but WAY better. The acne patches hardly do a thing at all for me, but these actually cause everything to expel even if it isn’t an open wound yet. I’d wash and put one of those bad boys on and leave it for a couple days then reapply if it hasn’t done it’s thing.
Just be very careful to avoid infection! Clean with iodine and do warm salt water soaks. Then, apply hydrocolloid bandages like these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D1CT9DX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_BY41BW7D4CMQYKQ5FTKS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
If it gets red and hot and you see streaks coming from it, or if there is a discharge that smells bad or looks yellow/green, seek IMMEDIATE medical attention. Otherwise, what I described above should do you wonders!
Pimple patches are a life saver tbh I’m a big picker and it def helps with it. The welly or hero ones are good but I buy theses guys off Amazon ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D1CT9DX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_5XABN9GX9F8WS42F2V13?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 ) when ever I see the price drop on it- they’re bigger than the pimple patch so great for cover multiple pimples at once if you get clusters like I do
Here's an example

Not OP, but I use something like these to keep me from picking. They’re hydrocolloid bandaids, or blister bandaids.
Also helps flatten the blemishes, if they’re close enough to the surface. Draws the gunk out.
Good luck!

This has really helped me. I cut them with sterile scissors, and they are very water proof. It keeps the wound moist, with less chance of scarring. I barely feel it on my face, and I put it on a wound on my ankle.
Purging sucks. If you and your dermatologist are positive it’s acne/cysts, make sure your face is clean and dry and put a hydrocolloid patch over the whole area before bed and any time you have down time where you don’t care if you have a bandaid on your face. Hydrocolloid bandages really help heal things quicker and with less scarring. It also keeps you from staring at it and touching it, and hopefully will help you feel like you’re taking care of yourself rather than feeling bad about yourself when you see the bandage as opposed to your blemishes.
I have dermatillomania and covering up my mirrors did wonders for my mental health and kept me from fixating. Use tape, or drape a towel over your mirrors and just know that this is a phase. Recognize that you’re in a bad place mentally and take some steps to help yourself fixate less and worry less.
put the dimmest lightbulbs you can in rooms where you pick. this was a game-changer for me. if I can't see my face very well, I'm much less likely to pick.
also, take out all but one mirror in your home if possible. throw away any magnetic mirrors or anything like that. drink a shit ton of water and work out most days (shower immediately after). at night--double wash.. with a simple basic wash like cetaphil first & then a benzoyl peroxide wash second, then salicylic acid toner except when super dry, moisturize with something scent free and basic like cetaphil moisturizer. rinse off excessive oil in the mornings/when needed throughout the day. if you wear makeup, wear it as infrequently as possible. make sure you exfoliate 1-2 times a week with some kind of exfoliating product.
of course, really just gotta QUIT ADDERALL to really really stop with the acne/picking/excessive sweating/constant touching..
hydrocolloid bandages like these can be helpful for when you just can't stop touching the acne etc.)--https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D1CT9DX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
also, there is a skin-picking sub on reddit that may have some useful suggestions. r/compulsiveskinpicking

Maybe not a pain “relief” but coping mechanism- I buy large hydrocolloid patches and cut them (or just leave them if it’s extensive enough) to fit any areas I’ve picked at and they cushion really well to protect the raw skin and ease some of the discomfort.

Try these. They stick all around the wound, are flexible and stretchy, and are waterproof. It's easy to forget that you've even got one on. Wash without fear.
