If you think you have a drinking problem and want to quit I highly recommend this book. For me it was a life saver, best thing I've ever read.
I was like this, or worse, for 20+ years. People tend to change when they are ready, and I think anything can work when that day comes. This book did it for me (now 12.5 years without a drop): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Easy-Control-Alcohol-Allen-Carr/dp/1848374658/
This attitude is pretty much the core of the Allen Carr method:

It worked pretty well for me and thousands of people to quit smoking. For boozing I had mixed results but I'd blame me before the method.
For anyone really wanting to quit, or stay sober, this book changed my life permanently.
Addiction is all the same; the mechanism, that is. It's a simple trap, and the way to get out of it, or want to get out of it, is simply to see the trap clearly.
If you can escape alcohol, you can escape samsara. No sweat, piece of cake. All addiction is the same. Beat one, beat any.
This guy can help to see the trap with clarity; in other words, he can help set you free.

I live in Nottingham, we're a very alcohol orientated city but when you manage a shift in thinking (easier said than done but this book helped me a lot with that). Then things become easier. For a while I always felt like the non-drinker at the pub, I felt self-conscious but now it's just natural, I go and order my appletiser or pint of orange squash and I'm fine. The only difference is I leave earlier when the rest of the party gets drunk because that annoys me now and I don't want to poop on their silly drunk party.
The shift in thinking is what cracked it for me - "I don't drink, not I CAN'T drink" you always want what you can't have! I just feel so much freer not having to do beer maths (have I had enough, do I need to go to the offy on the way home, can I have one more glass and still be okayish for work?) and not having to continually think about planning in my next drink.
> Is there any edge i can gain to keep me healthy and clear minded in a natural way?
Yes. Not being drunk all the time. I highly recommend the book The Easy Way to Control Alcohol by Allen Carr.
I think you are right, dude. At that moment of weakness it really is about will. But how can you really have a choice if you still think masturbation or porn do ANYTHING good for you. I think an important part of recovery is realizing that everything you thought about porn and masturbation has been a lie. It is a false truth that it brings you pleasure.
I also think an important part of recovery is healthy living and purposefully limiting your exposure to triggers. You are naturally going to face temptations through everyday life... the hot girl at the gym, victoria secret ad, or a cleavage pic on facebook. You don't need to complicate your recovery by surrounding yourself with more triggers than you need to.
Another crucial part of recovery is educating yourself. I really like this Allen Carr book about alcohol recovery. It helped me quit alcohol without any withdrawal or cravings. Once I understood that alcohol was a poison, it was easy to quit. Just as the sex addicts anonymous adopted the AA 12 steps to help beat their own sex addictions... I think Allen Carr's book can be used by those struggling with sex addiction. I reread it this past month and it has definite strategies for thinking about alcohol (insert porn) that will help people in recovery.

You're trying to do too much. When I started leveling up, I focused only on one, max two things at a time.
The most important thing for you right now is to stay away from your abuser. Zero fucking contact. No dating. This time is for you now, to read good books and get yourself together.
Look up Easy Way to Control Alcohol. Same book, different title, $12. Or use this link.
I'm not the person you just replied to, I'm the OP but the way I stopped drinking was Allen Carr's book.

I'm not an expert on alcoholism, but I am an expert on my own story. Watching the following two videos inspired me to read this book, and that helped me.
Craig Ferguson Speaks From The Heart
All it Took Was One Book for Nikki Glaser to Quit Drinking
Whether it helps you or not, good luck.
I just posted this elsewhere, but it apples here. Get it, read it... No longer desire alcohol! Profit.

This book is an excellent read. It's not condescending at all, there is no new-agey stuff, and she can read it in the privacy of your home. It's only $12.
Some people don't need to dive into past issues and problems in life to get to the 'root cause.' Sometimes just changing the way a person looks at alcohol logically can be enough. I made 2 years sober a couple months ago.
