>The channel also refused to let him use the metric system, he said.
Good Eats was so entertaining with Alton demonstrating the science of cooking with puns thrown in. Although, my interest waned whenever ounces, cups, etc. were referenced. >Brown’s latest cookbook, EveryDayCook: This Time It’s Personal, came out in September.
I previewed the cookbook on Amazon. Apparently the publisher wouldn’t let him use the metric system either. I’m hopeful that he’ll let loose with metric on his new show.
I started my journey at 50 after the implosion of my marriage. My ex rarely let me in the kitchen, but I occasionally made pasta and cooked rice in the rice cooker and made eggs for breakfast so I had some practice.
As others have suggested I started my new kitchen and with a chef’s knife, cutting board small 8” frying pan (for eggs) and Instant Pot.
It can easily be used as a larger frying pan, slow cooker, pressure cooker, rice cooker and even to cook pasta.
Try to find copycat recipes for food you like and work at those.
Another good place to start is Alton Brown’s Everyday Cook https://www.amazon.com/dp/1101885718 in his usual manner he actually describes what he is doing and why.
i’ve been cooking from alton brown’s everydaycook recently..great stuff throughout..i watched his show every night growing up, and his detailed explanations of why you do certain things have helped me tremendously
As part of last night's book signing, AB revealed that he's going to be bringing back Good Eats as a internet-based property. He explained the he shopped a reboot of the show around and got turned down by everyone, including the Food Network. Because so many shows are excelling online, he's going to release it there instead. He didn't have work whether it's going to be independently distributed or through sites, such as Netflix/Amazon/Etc.
I searched around and this was confirmed in an NYT article released just prior to EveryDayCook coming out. So excited!
His newest book is EveryDayCook.
You can also find more of his older books (besides the big 3) on his Amazon Profile.
He has a cookbook called everyday cook
