It's an M.2 ssd. Looking up the X300s it looks like it is a Sata M.2 drive. You can use an enclosure like this one. https://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Type-C-Enclosure-Portable-External/dp/B0788HBLDZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1542054496&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=sata+m.2+enclosure&psc=1

I am using a couple of inexpensive 32GB Transcend M.2s (80mm) using this USB enclosure (both from Amazon, but the m.2s I bought are no longer available). I have the usb enclosure basically double sided taped to the side of my box with the usb cable running to the back to plug in. Not the most professional looking job but it works :). The cable is Type C on the enclosure side and Type A on the computer side, so you do not need Type C on your motherboard to use. Claims up to 10Gbps speeds if connected to USB 3.1 port.

I did this to create 2 mirrored drives for my boot, I used a slightly different case but pretty sure I got the same drive. I went with a case that used a usb cable instead of having the usb built into so that I could just double sided tape the drives to the side of the PC case I am running my NAS instead of having it stick out the back

You could also use a USB enclosure for an SSD and still use USB to connect. I have mirrored M.2 drives in USB enclosures that I switched to recently as I was in the same boat, no SATA ports available but wanted to get off the USB flash drives.

Edited to Add: I got some 3M Command strips to tape the enclosures to the side of the box after connecting to the USB so they don;t just hang there
Transferring it all to the hard drive would be easiest, but if you don't have room you could buy a m.2 USB enclosure and transfer the files with that.
