Grab a mohu leaf antenna or similar - they work well for NY metro for it's free dtv Amazon basics dtv antenna
Assuming your tv is digital try qoo10, lazada or aliexpress for dvb-t2 antenna. I have an indoor antenna purchased from amazon for less than 15/20 a while ago (on sale) and working great.
Get a DTV antenna like this. This will get you local channels in our area. I've found that channel 3 and channel 13 are either or, like, If i want channel 3 i have to orient it a certain way, and i have to orient it another way for channel 13. But besides those two, I get everything else perfectly. I live in the aliante area of NLV.
As for ditching Cox, figure out what shows or channels you watch the most and then research what services offer them. For me, we wrote it all out and found that Hulu had all the shows we watch and then we got CBS access through our Amazon Prime channels and that covered everything for us. Also, getting CBS access through amazon prime gets you the live CBS channel for your local area as well.

Gets everything, and still gets everything after the recent rescan that some folks have had trouble with a few channels on. We're lucky in that we're 4 floors up with a clear line of sight to the Sears Tower, but if it didn't work, then Amazon don't ever argue with you about returning shit.
If you're a Broncos fan you can get all the games over the air. I have one like this worked both in my apartment in Cap Hill and decently at my house in Denver now even though it's at the bottom of a hill. Lakewood is closer to the majority of the transmitters on Lookout Mountain so you should have better reception regardless. Depending on your tolerance to 'grey' streaming r/nflstreams has all the games and most of the streaming sites have both home and away feeds.
I have an antenna kinda like this which is flat and can be nailed to the wall. It plugs into the cable plug not hdmi or anything so it won't take any spots from anything else. Cheap one time cost to watch NBC, CBS, ABC, and Fox free. Mostly watch sports, late night, etc
