Hey Keltarrant - I can absolutely make a recommendation for you although I should preface it with some of my thoughts on ergonomics. Remember that ergonomics is essentially the optimization of our environment which attempts to place our joints and subsequently muscles/tendons at the most neutral (stress-minimum) positions and no matter how much we change our environment, if we don't assume the proper posture within this environment, we are unable to reap the benefits.
Aka your lifestyle, taking breaks and your understanding of posture has a significantly larger effect on your health than ergonomics do.
Anyways: I am not a proponent of any specific chair (despite the Dxracers being primarily used by the players) and I currently use a non-arm rest chair like this one https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-GF-60044-Low-Back-Task-Chair/dp/B00XBC3J84/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1473278420&sr=8-5&keywords=amazon+chair because of my table setup.
Arm rests are not necessary if you have enough desk space which allows neutral positioning of your elbows. So much of this is up to your preference. I guess basic tips would be 1. Decent lumbar support 2. Nice seat cushion 3. arm-rest depending on whether your desk-space will allow for it.
Some other food for thought: I think I may have an unpopular opinion about ergonomics and chairs. While I think ergonomics is great and that can contribute greatly to the health of the community, it should not be the major focus of how we should approach health management.
Despite changing our environment and the huge focus of this in the regular working population, the prevalence of injuries is not significantly affected. This means there's a larger underlying issue that should be addressed - which is the lifestyle (taking breaks) and understanding of proper posture.
I have too much to say about this, I'll likely write an article soon :)
In the sub-$100 category, I would look at something very basic, upholstered without armrests but still with a back cushion rather than just a stool. Something like this would qualify:
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-GF-60044-Low-Back-Task-Chair/dp/B00XBC3J84
"Amazon Basics Upholstered, Low-Back, Adjustable, Swivel Office Desk Chair, Black" $77
I would avoid mesh, because at less than $100, it's just a gimmick. I would avoid armrests, because you won't need them if you're not sitting very long, and they're a perpetual issue breaking down, cracking, and getting in the way. You want a task chair, not an office computer chair.
And I would go upholstered, because PU-leather cracks and tears in very little time, and it generally would not have much foam and would be uncomfortable. So go with upholstered.
It should be on wheels, because you sound like you need it to be a little mobile. And it needs to be easily adjustable by height, because that's easy to do right.
Basic chairs like this one are going to last as long as the foam in the cushions last. Most people keep using the chairs many years after the foam has worn out, anyway. That's normal. A chair like this could last 10 years.
Then the most likely thing that breaks down on the chair will be the upholstery. It might tear or just wear a hole. But there's an easy and cheap solution: You can get a new chair seat cover. There are plenty on the market. They have a stretch fabric that fits any chair seat. Example for $12 (they come even cheaper in bulk) :
https://www.amazon.com/FORCHEER-Resistant-Jacquard-Computer-Slipcovers-Black/dp/B0983HTY7Z
This solution isn't really BIFL. But I would appreciate that it is cheap and can be maintained for probably up to 10 years easily.
