I use a USB extension for my wired xbox gamepad.. I play on PC on a 46" tv from the comfort of my lazyboy recliner 10 feet away, using gamepad, trackball and keyboard. http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Extension-Cable--Male--Female/dp/B001TH7GUU/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1429902620&sr=1-1&keywords=usb+extension
It makes me cringe seeing them try to hold a laptop up to the wall. One of these would help.
The controller mine came with is wired, I actually had to get an extension cable so I could have space to move around.
I had gotten this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TH7GUU ) but it was for an 360 Controller. I don't have any experience with an xbone model.
USB extension should be good up to 16 feet or so before it starts becoming dubious.
Use the stock cable with a USB extension.
Edit: AmazonBasics USB 2.0 Extension Cable - A-Male to A-Female - 9.8 Feet (3 Meters) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001TH7GUU/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_DVytvb007DWGM
How much? 6 feet? 3 meters? All you have to do is buy two of this.
You can use something like this to extend your current cable. http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-A-Male-A-Female-Extension-Meters/dp/B001TH7GUU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394731413&sr=8-1&keywords=usb+extension
No, you can get a USB extension cable to make it reach.
Maybe i'm wrong but I don't see why no one just buys one of these and attaches it to any usb they buy, I know its not convenient or aesthetic but surely that solves the problem
