This is what comes up on a search of amazon UK for 'usb c to usb micro' I assume amazon US will have something similar?
Amazon Basics USB Type-C to Micro-B 2.0 Cable - 0.9 m - Black [link]
What I’m saying is to buy cables with whatever end your devices use (micro USB, USB-B, USB3.0 SS, etc.) and end in USB-C to go directly into your Mac without the dongle. There isn’t a device that I’ve purchased that doesn’t have the opportunity to have its USB A cable replaced with a USB C variant. Anything of mine that has shipped with a USB A cable is now using USB C. For example my kindle, Bluetooth headphones, PS4 controller, etc. all use this: AmazonBasics USB Type-C to Micro-B 2.0 Cable - 3 Feet (0.9 Meters) - Black [link]
Also, I urge you to look at the Samsung T5 or SanDisk Extreme SSD in person.. these things are tiny. Smaller than a credit card and virtually indestructible.
While you technically can (assuming there's not some little issue like the 56k Ohm resistor with usb a to c cables), I'd just buy a type C to micro b cable like this. They sell cables in every different combination of connectors (at least the ones confirming to USB spec. Although you could find non-compliant ones too).
Do you mean the cable the guy is holding at 2:13?
How bout a cable?
Plus instead of dinkin’ down in the dark dung hole of the dongle life, you’ll be chillin’ in the cool cable life!
[link] something like this could help with the strain on the USB port because of the big plug setup :)
