I got a 9ft Amazon Basics usb c cord. However, it’s only USB2.0, so it wouldn’t be very good for data transfer. It’s been charging well with my MateBook X (not Pro)

AmazonBasics USB Type-C to USB Type-C 2.0 Cable - 9 Feet (2.7 Meters) - White [link]
If 480mbps is enough then why not the Amazon Basics cable?
[link] it works well. Both the 3ft and the 6ft charges my phone and my laptop.
For Gen 1 and 6.6ft I am using [link] this baby. If you are in Vancouver, BC I can give you one at cost, I have two but I only need one.
For Gen 2, the maximum length is 3.3ft [link]
I've been using the Amazon basics one: [link]
Benson Leung reviewed it.
The USB C explainer is at [link]
You bought a cable which promises the impossible and, to noone's surprise it doesn't work. You should only buy USB IF certified cables.
> how do I know which cable will support my mic
Trial and error. It either needs 5gbps USB or can work with just 480mbps USB. Try a cheap but certified cable which has only USB 2.0 data wires like [link] or [link]
If it doesn't work then your mic needs high speed lanes which the standard limits to 6ft/3ft and so you need an active cable and the only affordable cable that works in this case is [link] and likely it's 15ft long sibling as well because it's beyond unlikely a microphone needs more than 5gbps.
AmazonBasics goes to about 3m.
Pricing is not bad. $11 for that cable, and it is certified. https://usb.org/single-product/569
I bought a 9ft Amazon Basics one to replace the cable for my Pixel 2. It's affordable and works great.
I bought one of these: AmazonBasics USB Type-C to USB Type-C 2.0 Cable - 9 Feet (2.7 Meters) - White [link]
Good quality, super long, does fast charging without an issue.
