Intel doesnt make that cpu anymore, its not up to Intel, ask retailers.

And to answer it, because people pay for it for upgrades.

For most things the 3600 is a sidegrade from a 7700k, but yeah id get the 3600 instead.

The FX series wasn't AMD's best showing, notoriously power-hungry/hot and just lackluster performance (compared to it's competetor at the time) overall. If you really don't have the money to upgrade to the new platform (Ryzen/DDR4 RAM), you may consider trying to find a higher-rated FX chip to get a performance boost while being budget-conscious, like the FX-8350
here is something you should know if you don't already compared to other types of PC your going to find that your CPU is insanely important as it does all of the calculations for tracking I started out with a 3.5 GHz 8 core CPU but I found that even tho its within the minimum requirements I started having a lot of problems with tracking only a few weeks after buying a Vive so If you can try to get a 4GHz 8 core CPU here's the one I got and it was easy to install so it wasn't a problem for me to do it myself.
www.amazon.com/AMD-FD8350FRHKBOX-FX-8350-8-Core-Processor/dp/B009O7YUF6
This would work for you. I have it in one of my rigs and it runs what i do just fine
Edit: i would agree with what the guy above me said. But if you just need a quick boost the 8350 is the way to go.
A friend gave me this processor because he had no use for it:
https://www.amazon.com/AMD-FD8350FRHKBOX-FX-8350-8-Core-Processor/dp/B009O7YUF6
Any thoughts on it? I'm looking to make a gaming build with a budget of around $800. Is this processor worth putting into a computer? Because I'm hearing mixed reviews online.
I would of course recommend the FX-8350. It has 8 cores and with a very good cooling solution it can go up to 5.0 ghz. Its $155, need a cheaper replacement let me know. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009O7YUF6/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B009O7YUF6&linkCode=as2&tag=quan9883-20&linkId=8328ec1de36d5d3ac111906edefd94a6
Would you declare this graphics card to be better than: Sapphire Radeon RX 480 8GB NITRO+ Video Card?
Regarding the keyboard, as stated, would like one of better quality and no mouse. Thanks for the ssd/hdd suggestions.
For the cpu is the intel better than this?: https://www.amazon.com/AMD-FD8350FRHKBOX-FX-8350-8-Core-Processor/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482605067&sr=1-2&keywords=AMD+FX-8150
I have a gtx 960 and an AMD Athlon II X4 630. There's a lot of bottlenecking going on. I was looking at the (AMD FX-8350)[AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition Processor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_P7T5xbGKEHD4C]
My question is: is there a better (AMD only please) CPU for the price? And: should I keep the stock cooler or buy a different one and thermal paste? If so, which?
Thanks!
Why are you guys alwas using an Intel CPU? I thought that this one AMD FX 8350 Octa-Core Prozessor (4GHz, Socket AM3+, 16MB Cache, 125 Watt) https://www.amazon.de/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_kDtxxbYKSQYP8 Is even faster and cheaper isnt it? Could be that im wrong but I don't know why.
Well, $150 doesn't really lend itself well into getting you very far.
You could go the AMD route, and get yourself a FX-8350 for, well exactly $150. It's on sale right now, so that price might not last.
If you want to go the Intel route, things become a little more complicated. I'd recommend personally getting a Skylake CPU, as that allows you a great deal of upgradeability down the road. But, at $150 you can't really afford a Skylake i5, short of the i5-6400T, which while viable, I guess, isn't something I'd recommend. You'd want to enter Skylake in around atleast the 6500 or 6600k area.
The choice is yours, AMD is certainly a viable solution, and will continue to be. But going Intel will require you put down some more money. You'd also have to get DDR4 RAM, which honestly, these days isn't that expensive anymore.
EDIT: There is also the i3 route, which is once again, a viable solution. But for the purpose of gaming, and such I would recommend an i5.
/u/Satire_Vs_Stupidity - Does this mean that this processor will give me faster rendering speeds than my current one? http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FX8350-Edition-Processor-4-2GHz/dp/B009O7YUF6?ie=UTF8&ascsubtag=pfb-NUL-3-2-1456231316430Zj&ref_=pfb_NUL_3_2_1456231316430Zj&tag=hydfbook-21
Intel processors such as anything in the i7 line aren't compatible with the socket/motherboard used by AMD chips.
That being said you could upgrade to another AMD chip that uses the AM3+ socket. The FX8350 might be a good place to start.
Considering that 17% of the reviews are less than positive and those are from their "regular users" I would say that such effort would be a waste of ones time.
Also If we go in to the PC parts section you can find stuff like this FX 8350 that only has 1-2% less than positive feedback... http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FD8350FRHKBOX-FX-8350-8-Core-Processor/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1448057983&sr=8-2&keywords=8+core
How badly are you in for streaming? How much are you willing to spend for it?
First of all you should upgrade your CPU. Then better GPU and double your 8GB of RAM (doesn't really affect streaming tho).
I'm not into AMD CPUs so I can't tell what would be the best model to go for but here is an example:
Before upgrading you should check that your motherboard supports these and you have sufficient power supply.
They referenced Intel chips but I got a AMD (FX-8350)
That's the only potential "issue" I could see. Hopefully it won't be a problem.
I have 12gb of RAM GTX 780 Running on SSD
Why? sorry i am a huge noob
would this processor be good? http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FD8350FRHKBOX-FX-8350-8-Core-Processor/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1438109560&sr=1-3&keywords=processor
any other suggestions for processor and mobo?
Gee, you had a reply...wherever did it go....?
BTW >OP quoted an 8350 as being $230 on amazon, as you can see for less than $10 more you can get an i5.
$179.99 http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FD8350FRHKBOX-FX-8350-FX-Series-Processor/dp/B009O7YUF6
So much for $8 more..for the i5
OP was referencing the 9590.
Yea, I know the feeling. The eight core AMD, is only 170 on Amazon, so if your looking to upgrade, start with the CPU first, and go from there.
Many thanks for your replies.
So I should just upgrade the CPU & stick with the current graphics card. Assuming I were to purchase this FX 8350 would I then have enough processing power to crossfire two GPUs, or would it still be pointless? (Again I understand I'd have to upgrade the motherboard to do this.)
Many Thanks. :)
Have you considered an AMD processor instead? Little cheaper and I personally like them.
I'm not too educated on Intel, but this looks comparable. And cheaper.
AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition Processor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009O7YUF6/
Everything looks pretty awesome on that machine. My only question would be could I save some money by using a cheaper CPU like http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009O7YUF6/?tag=pcpapi-20 Pardon my ignorance on some of these topics as I don't really understand CPU's as well as some on this subreddit and wondering if this would save me about $150 without losing any real performance...or would it cost me too much performance?
ok what if I got this instead of the Sempron http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FD8350FRHKBOX-FX-8350-FX-Series-Edition/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-2&keywords=AMD
Also how do I write over the link like what u did with the GPU spec
Here is my part list, I still need to upgrade my ram. I want to get 32gb instead of the 16 I have now. I also want to upgrade my video card I just don't know to what.

It's difficult to justify because currently you can get a 2600 for $160 and it's miles ahead.
Add to that, it's not actually 8 cores (it's 4 core), an ungodly power consumption, additional cooling necessary it's just not great. The only difference between 9590 and 8350 is clock speed and voltage, which is a clear indication all they did was take binned chips and overclock the ever living crap out of them. Same architecture, same everything.
If you want something temporary, 8350 is decently cheaper. It's $78 on Amazon.
This is the current CPU in it:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009O7YUF6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and no, it is not Overclocked.
In fact, if you can spare <$50 more, use the following:
EDIT
And you have to trade out that ps: https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Continuous-Active-Supply-PS-SPD-0600NPCWUS-W/dp/B014W3EMAO/ref=sr_1_2/131-8414396-1130407?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1524798437&sr=1-2&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_two_browse-bin%3A6906985011
Without upgrading my MOBO to get a an AM4 CPU, is it worth it to get an FX 8350? The price is in a sweet spot for me.

I am looking at CPU and GPU upgrades. I currently play and stream (to Twitch mainly) strategy/simulation games (Cities:Skylines, Civ, occasionally CS:GO) (Not making any cash to pay for upgrades yet tho)
I currently have: AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition @3.2 ASUS M5A78L-USB 3 (AM3+) Mobo 12GB RAM (two pairs) MSI 750Ti 2GB
XSplit reports CPU maxing out and frames dropping, but the Graphics struggle to handle games like cities anyway and even on mod-less play occasionally hangs.
Trying to fiddle the payday numbers and I might be able to afford: AMD FX8350 Black Edition at 4Ghz (https://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-Black-Vishera-Clock-Turbo-x/dp/B009O7YUF6/ ) (Keep Mobo & RAM) ASUS GeForce DUAL-GTX1060--O6G 6 GB Graphics Card ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01IPFN7UQ )
Question is, looking at tables like Tom' hardware Hierarchy, it is a big jump to the next step in the hierarchy... Am I just deluded at updating old hardware to old hardware?
Also, would swapping both out at the same time trigger Windows 10's 'You must buy a new licence' process from the free upgrades?

Hey guys, I have tried for the last week to do everything I can to get temps under control, to no avail.
Important parts:
CPU: AMD FX-8350
Cooler: LEPA Liquid Cooler
Motherboard: Asus M5A
I have tried using my cpu rad as an intake, and saw substantial spikes in all other temps, and was actually triggering my pc to shut off because of 120*c and higher motherboard temps. I have two 140s coming in, and two 120s going out, all running 100% speed.
I forgot to say this in the post, but is it worth it to upgrade my cpu to this: https://www.amazon.com/AMD-FD8350FRHKBOX-FX-8350-8-Core-Processor/dp/B009O7YUF6 Its twice the price but its on a sale from $230 to 120, thanks
I'm looking to put together an inexpensive build using some components I already have. I was looking at the AMD FX-8350 with this ASUS motherboard. I'll be using 8 GB of DDR3 ram I already have, as well as a GTX 750ti, with an eye towards upgrading that to something like an RX 470 in the fall. I'll mostly be using this PC for gaming (Overwatch and GTAV) and video editing. Is there a better motherboard/CPU combo for around $200?

Would this work for cpu
You are not getting good value for your money, like at all... GTX 960 and AMD 7970 are going for C$200 on ebay from reputable sellers including shipping, a dual core 6100 is not going to cut it current games (its really just a single core, since your OS will be eating 25% of a core for background tasks). You would be better off trying to get a used 2500k ( they are going for ~C$150 ) with a Z68 or an x7x series that supports overclocking with a K-series processor.
Buying used when you are on a budget is the way to go, since a lot of people upgrading to the latest and greatest are willing to part with their used hardware on the cheap. As an example, I will be selling my 2nd rig: 8350, Asus m5a99x evo r2.0 and 8GB of RAM for ~$195 (2/3rds of the store price) once the NVIDIA (1070+1080 ) and AMD (Polaris) paper launches are over.
If you want to learn how to buy used, I can recommend a few channels: Oafah, Tech YES City and Linus Tech Tips Scrapyard Wars series
The standard one that was sent with the AMD 8350.
There's many AMD options! This one is great and only $19 out of your range.
can I use this cooler on an AMD Fx-8350? I am using the stock cooler for now, but it is too loud and I have the effizio lying around. I used it for another AMD processor.
Also this is on sale for 24hours:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009O7YUF6/ref=s9_al_bw_g147_i2
However, I would still post to /r/buildapc before pulling the trigger.
One major issue, that MOBO is an Intel motherboard and wont work with your AMD CPU. Also, that AMD CPU isn't the best and might bottleneck the 980. If you want a AMD CPU, i'd recommend getting the FX-8350 as I have one and works great with my R9 390.
If you do go with the AMD CPU, you need to find a AMD MOBO as well.
EDIT: Amazon has the FX-8350 as Deal of the day for $128.99, link
so from that list, this would be the best CPU for that board?
I'd take the FX-8350 at the $128.99 deal http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009O7YUF6/ref=s9_al_bw_g147_i2
At same cost I'd take i5.
The Xeon would still work very nicely. Absolutely overpowered for office, but useful in your editing work.

Would something like that be an option for you? This build assumes that you do not need special mainboard connectors right now, as that probably works mainly over usb, right? The FX-8350 is a powerful option in that budget for multithreaded applications like encoding work, FL studios claims to support that. An aftermarket cpu cooler to keep it moderately quiet. The linked gpu has only one dvi-i output (and should come with an adapter to vga for that, though I'm not certain of that. they cost 2€), the other is dvi-d and would need a costly special converter – does one of your displays work with that directly, or with hdmi?
They got for 164 on amazon right now as I type this so probably about 120 or so. http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FD8350FRHKBOX-FX-8350-8-Core-Processor/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1441117136&sr=8-1&keywords=8350+amd
I thought the same when I was first building my rig, but you can get a locked Haswell i5 for $176 vs an 8350 for $165.
You can find intel MOBOs for locked CPUs (H87, H97 chipsets) for less than $100 most definitely as well.
The 8350 does have a lot of cores for multitasking but they are weak cores, the i5 just has 4 really strong cores. It is up to you, imo both are great for what he is doing, I might actually suggest less like an FX 6300 if you are on a tight budget. I don't suggest an i3 because the 2 cores could hold it back from its multitasking ability. With 6 cores on the 6300 programs won't be fighting for resources as much.
EDIT: For comparing the CPUs gaming wise, I refer to This chart which are different CPUs running the same games on the same GPUs. you can see the i3 beats even the 8350 for gaming because of its strong cores, but I would highly suspect that 8350 would be MUCH better for multitasking because of the 6 extra cores.
I would suggest a GTX 960 and a 430W psu instead:

Combined that with a cheaper mainboard than in the original build, to stay near the budget.
Apart from the specific recommendation, I would not get the 1333 Ram that was in the first build – it does not make much difference, but it is also not really cheaper.

I'd normally recommend an i5 for a gaming build, but since you want to stream and since the games you want to play are not too demanding, the FX-8350 should work better here.
I don't know how much it would cost to ship all of that to you, that is why I let a big buffer. But the next best graphic card, the R9 290, is a bit too expensive anyway.

I hesitate to give a solid answer here. You're probably OK, but I know FX processors can be a pain.
That said, you can upgrade to an 8350 which is definitely above the minimum spec for around $65
AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition Processor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_k7KtCbFPNCST9
pretty sure it sits at 60 or over the whole time. Radeon R9 290 and FX 8350 8-core
I would suggest getting a better CPU. That i3 is really gonna bottleneck your system. I suggest getting at least an i5.
I am a fan of the AMD FX processors because they are cheaper, like this one. That one is not only cheaper than your current one, but it's also faster. However, make sure to get an AMD processor with 8 cores. Anything below 8 isn't really that good imo. I do think Intel is more favorited however.
A 1060 is a great card to use. Not top of the line, but still really kicks ass.
However, I suggest getting a powersupply that is at least 700w. That 450w is pretty low, and you really don't want your power supply to go. $85 for a 450w power supply seems kind of high, not sure if I'm missing something. 80 bucks is about the price a 700w would be.

To obtain an i5 would require a motherboard change, have you looked at getting a fx8350 cpu? Whilst the fx8350 is slower in single threaded applications, in multithreaded applications it catches up.
