I learned the same lesson way back when the Vive first came out, scratched both the Vive’s lenses and my glasses. When I got my Quest 2 I ordered some protectors immediately. Be sure to test them out to use the right spacing with your prescription, they give you three sizes.

Be careful that your glasses don't scratch the lenses. I would get kens protectors if they could touch the lenses.
It comes with a glasses spacer, you can get these - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B089FB5W1N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_TJ46G358D7XCYJK2B3SM , they're supposed to stop your glasses from rubbing against the lenses. Alternative is to buy prescription lenses.
If you're looking to protect your lenses from glasses, I'm currently using these and love them:
https://smile.amazon.com/AMVR-Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N/
Lots of color and size options are included and I don't even notice them. Never had my glasses touch the lenses no matter how tight I set the elite strap.
Today is the only day I have seen anyone complain about VRoptician, which is where I ordered mine from.
These do keep glasses off my Quest, but they are overpriced and it's still really uncomfortable so I've just been playing blurry for now: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089FB5W1N
You should get some lens protector rings such as These
It ensures your glasses won't touch the lenses and scratch them up.
I don't have those specific ones, but I 3d printed mine. By default the file I got was way too thick and I had to shorten it up. Those AMVR ones come with multiple thicknesses so I would think one of them would let your glasses get very close to the lenses without actually touching. They also have another version without the light blocking tab if that ends up getting in the way.
Worst case, you scratch both Quest and glasses' lens. Investing on some lens ring is the best advice. AMVR one come with silicon ring so it doesn't scratch glasses unlike some other alternatives with plastic ring.

My solution was to buy a second quest... lol that is what I ended up doing, but mostly because my wife wanted to play with me.
My first solution was to buy a pair of glasses that fit in the headset. I usually get my glasses from Zenni so they are quite cheap. I measured the width of the headset and found frames that were slightly smaller. Just get some cheap lens protectors so the glasses dont rub on the lenses.
I eventually bought a pair of vroptician prescription lenses and I would never go back. It's well worth the money and for about 3 months I was removing and replacing the lenses in the headset as other people took turns and never had an issue. they still fit as snuggly as the day I bought them.
You can wear glasses as long as your head/pair isn't overly wide. You do want to use a spacer and get lens protectors, a set of rings that fit on the quest 2 lenses to prevent your glasses from touching them. Such as ( amazon.com/AMVR-Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N ) or whatever brand. If you do suffer from a fat head like me you can get a pair of removable prescription lenses for the Q2 so you won't need to wear glasses.
Yeah, the glasses spacer just gives you a bit more room. Using common sense it's obvious that there's nothing physically preventing your glasses from contacting the lense, if it happens to fit that way.
As others have said, you can get prescription lenses.
Or if you don't want to do that, you can buy plastic lense protectors that will physically block them from touching.
Oh! One more thing! I have a plus prescription as well I would advise that if he does decide to use it with his glasses there are cheap rubber lens protectors which I use to stop accidental lens bump.
I know a lot of people have talked the glasses spacer on devices like the quest, but I think this is better as it allows me to use the device without the spacer with no scratch danger.
Here is an Amazon Italy link to the ones I bought.
I have astigmatism and before dropping money on custom lenses I tried these. I have to say that I happened to currently have glasses that are almost identically shaped to the VR lenses in the oculus, the material doesn't scratch my glasses and when wearing them in my headset I don't notice the glasses at all and they don't move around and rub against the lens.
I tried contact lenses and that just didn't feel right in VR. The benefit to those above + glasses is I also have a bunch of added coatings on my glasses that help reduce glare, blue lights etc etc and they work perfectly in VR :)
I use these with my glasses and have had zero issues with scratches.
I wear glasses and don’t use a glasses spacer. You don’t need it if you get the rubber bumper parts that fit on the lenses.
They are out of stock in Amazon US, just sending the link for reference. I’m sure there are other brands and they are in stock in my country.
I got mine from Amazon. (UK)

I don't have glasses so I can't tell how good this would be... but check these out.
I think their purpose is to keep your glasses from scratching the lens, but they end up giving you a bit more space, so that might help. Lemme know how it works out if you end up getting one of those types of things.
That seems.... very optimistic in my opinion. If you do do it once I would STRONGLY suggest getting some covers to go over the lenses. Either 3d printed prescription inserts or you can grab a pair of blanks off amazon for like ~$20 - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089FB5W1N/
No this is not a good investment, this is last resort. Good investment is something like this AMVR Lens Anti-Scratch Ring or you can print similar with 3D printer.
You can get something like this. The provide a raised bump around the lenses. Any glasses will hit them before the actual lenses. The link I shared is just one brand, I think there are others.
Here ya go man. I use these and I have for a long time and never scratched the lenses. If I recall correctly then come with varying thickness rings so you can decide how much you want it to stick off of it. It’s essentially a ring that clips around the lens. Works wonders for me. https://www.amazon.com/AMVR-Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?crid=178E3HRSEYBNP&keywords=lens+protectors+for+oculus+quest+2&qid=1638575901&sprefix=lens+protectors+%2Caps%2C64&sr=8-4
Make sure to test to ensure the glasses still don't touch the lens even with the spacer, mine still did. I use these instead Limited-time deal: AMVR Lens Anti-Scratch Ring Protecting Myopia Glasses from Scratching VR Headset Lens Compatible for Oculus Quest, Quest 2, Rift S or Oculus Go https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B089FB5W1N/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_dl_41T46FFH9Y52N69DEWTB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Something that's often overlooked:
If anyone in the household wears glasses, consider a set of lens spacers. Folks with glasses need a little more space inside the headset to make room for the frames, but the tendency is to pull the strap tight, which pushes the glasses right up against the Quest's lenses. You do NOT want to risk scratching them. spacers/bumpers put a bit of a raised ring in front of the lenses and avoid lend-to-lens bumping and scratching.
There are tons of versions of these. Any brand will probably do. I'm trading up from an OQ1 to an OQ2 and will be getting these for my new unit - https://www.amazon.com/AMVR-Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N
If you don't want to drop the potential shit ton of money depending on your prescription I use these lens protectors and they have been great for protecting the lenses. https://www.amazon.com/AMVR-Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=1DWHSYEK6WS0Z&keywords=amvr+lens+protector&qid=1637157115&qsid=139-5433891-5069220&sprefix=amvr+lens+protectors%2Caps%2C128...
If it turns out to actually be scratches, there is a product called Polywatch that has been reported to be a great success (I've seen some vids where they scratched up the lenses pretty bad).
I'm pretty sure I've also read it's a "only works once" kind of solution as well.
Me, personally? I'd recommend getting some prescription lenses for it. It is SO very nice to not have the glasses bunched up/shifting.
I highly recommend Reloptix. I'm the only one in my household that requires "augmentation" for VR, and the Reloptix lenses attach magnetically, so the norms don't have to experience how virtual my normal reality is. Support from the company is amazing. Not 15 minutes ago I contacted them to suggest an accessory they could add as a purchaseable option and was told "thank you for the suggestion, but we decided to go this other direction, and include it... didn't you get that with your order?". I explained that no, as that was something that was done well after I received my lenses, I had not. "We'll assign that task right now to get that out to you, then!".
Outside of prescriptions lenses, a less expensive alternative is protective rings that can attach to your lenses that keep your glasses from making contact with the lenses (that 1/2 inch can disappear before your realize it)
It comes with a spacer in the box for smaller glasses. I'd recommend getting this if you're more worried about scratching either set of lenses, or getting a prescription insert if you have large glasses and are the main user. https://www.amazon.com/AMVR-Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N/
I recommend getting these little things. They are SO GOOD. Better than the glasses spacers. I bought some a few weeks ago and they are a godsend. Basically bumpers for your lenses. All you have to do is pop them on the Quest 2 and boom. Your glasses will never touch the lenses. Only the soft silicone bumpers

If you wear glasses, they can scratch the lenses. There are solutions out there if you're interested.
Don't let a friend wear glasses in the headset either.

If you aren't going to share you can also get prescription lense covers so you don't need glasses.
Try searching for third party attachments that could help. Just had a quick look and found these:
https://www.amazon.com/AMVR-Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N
I have no idea how well they work and there could be some other products too for similar purpose, so try searching.
You can try “polywatch”, which has saved a similarly injured RiftS for me before. Though I’ve seen posts indicating it does not always succeed.
If’s for polishing scratches from fancy watch faces.
And this is much better than the spacers (though still a step below the dedicated inserts for quest):
https://www.amazon.com/AMVR-Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N
I play daily with glasses using the included spacer. Also got these rubber rings that clip to the lenses to prevent scratching for peace of mind, but it's not necessary.
I have the same bro. No matter how clear the lenses are, I still get this white spot. I also wear these anti scratch pads, and even use the thingy that comes with the quest for glasses. Yet I apparantly still managed to scratch the lenses... So annoying.
DIY solutions for the Oculus Quest 1/2 should not be used. This includes this "nerf dart method." Instead, get this suitable and compatible accessory to prevent your glasses from scratching the Oculus Quest 2's lenses:
Thanks for the headsup on the AMVR lens anti scratch thingies. I went ahead and ordered some of those to hold me over and give me some time. You rock.

I wear glasses and find using contacts to be a far more enjoyable experience, however now that I have these guys I rarely bother to put in contacts and just use my glasses. All my family wear glasses so these SHOULD keep my Oculus from getting scratched.
Even if you're far sighted you should use glasses for better visibility.

100% get these while you wait on your prescription lenses from whoever you choose.
I'm using VROptitian lenses. I'm using same prescription no problems here.. although I am near sighted.
i got these amvr lens bumper things. I wear my glasses all the time in them and I haven't scratched the lens yet. I bought them because I had scuffed the lens that i was thankfully able to buff out. I would suggest these because it doesn't matter if you are wearing glasses or contacts, the vr lens will be protected. If you get the prescription lens inserts and you are wearing contacts in that moment, you'll have to go take them out to play vr.
These are what I got: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089FB5W1N/
They're silicon protectors. Come in 3 different sizes and 2 different colors for a total of 6 sets. The largest is size 1 at 7mm, size 2 at 5mm and size 3 at 4mm. Keep in mind this is in addition to the plastic base they attach to. Size 3 was too shallow for me, the Quest lenses stuck out slightly above the silicon meaning I could still touch them with my glasses. Size 1 was too big, when I tightened the straps they shoved my glasses into my face uncomfortably. Size 2 fit well. High enough to protect the lenses and doesn't touch my glasses until I really really tighten it. Since they're silicon they don't scratch my glasses.
Also, are you sure of the prescription? Typically far sighted people don't need glasses on VR and some VR lenses makers don't even offer far sighted lenses. If he has trouble seeing things when they're up close he's nearsighted and his prescription should be measured in negative numbers.
I bought these off Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/AMVR-Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N
Inexpensive and they work well. I like that they have a silicone cover over the spacers that protects your glasses from scratches.

Just found this on another reddit post and bought them. If you want to wear glasses in vr with peace of mind, these are it i guess. Only other option is prescription lenses
Do you think these would work?
I have a $20 gift card so I can afford these and I want them to come by the 13th, so that's why I'm leaning towards these
Would these work? I have a $20 gift card so I can afford these and I want them to come by the 13th, so that's why I'm leaning towards these
i bought these, they're like rubber bumpers that keep your glasses from contacting the lens.
With the extra inlay that is included with the Quest I can wear my glasses just fine in the Quest. But if you have a thick frame on your glasses they might touch the lenses, so when friends of mine with glasses are trying the Quest I have them carefully hold the Quest in place over their eyes to make sure the glasses are not touching the lens. If they touch, your Quest lens will definitely get scratched or scuffed.
A cheap way to make sure both your lenses and glasses are protected is by using these inlays made of silicone. They are elevated slightly of your Quest lenses so your glasses will only bump into the soft silicone instead of the lenses. If you are into 3D printing I have seen similar items on Thingiverse.com as well. The spacer that came with the Quest; many user have reported it fails to protect the Quest lens from making contact with eye glasses resulting in scratches.
https://www.amazon.com.au/AMVR-Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N
Love it! Just try to make sure theres a tiny gap between the glasses and headset lenses because if they're rubbing they could scratch.
Might consider a set of these just in case: AMVR Lens protectors $15 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089FB5W1N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_U.UeFbBG8RM5P
The glasses spacer is literally just to give you extra space. There are special products to actually prevent the lenses from touching, but how well they work depends on your frames. There are also options that work more like the screen protector for a phone.
Moving forward you should use some Polywatch on that scratch, and then consider either prescription lens covers or one of those dedicated options for protection.
I just bought these off Amazon the other day for $20, and will be able to test them tonight. lens anti-scratch rings

Otherwise I got tired of that and bought "VR optician" lenses. And that helped me relax more in beat Saber as I was not worried about jerking my head and damaging my lenses. There is a also a glasses spacer for the quest 2 in the box.
VR optician (make sure you know your IPD and glasses, can consult your optometrist. VR is fixed focus around 1.5m)
I use AMVR Lens protector, it works great and is cheap 😁 https://www.amazon.com/AMVR-Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N
Most manufacturers that make lens inserts also make inserts with plano lenses, which are basically just clear plastic lenses without any prescription strength so you can look into those.
You can also check out these protective rings from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089FB5W1N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I used these on my Quest 2 before I got my inserts. They consist of two plastic rings and silicone coverings of varying thickness. I used the 7mm covers which were the thickest.
When cleaning the lenses you will also only want to use a clean, dry microfiber cloth and wipe the lenses gently in circular motions.. I would avoid using any liquids or other materials on them.
If you don't wear glasses or don't plan to have anyone with glasses ever try the headset you should be ok as long as you just exercise some care. But both of the above solutions will give you extra peace of mind.
I'd suggest an external battery as the first thing but depends on how long you use it in 1 sitting. The only other I'd consider essential is a lens protector if you wear glasses (or custom made perscription lenses but they're a bit pricier). Something like this:
Everything else is really down to personal preference but other things to consider:
Replacement head strap
better facial insert (VR Cover)
Controller grips
Travel case
You can see if Oculus can send you a replacement. Alternately, you can purchase some lens protectors via Amazon that take the place of the rings (the other one can simply be popped out). I bought these and they work well for me; they fit the Quest, Quest 2 and Rift S as all have the same lens shape.

I'm not sure if they are the BEST because they are the only ones i have used. They work fine for me though.
You can also buy some silicone rings that you put over the lenses. They act as bumpers to stop your glasses from hitting the lens. That’s what I’ve been using although I’d like to get the lens adapters.
You can also DIY a cheaper adapter by 3D printing one (or buy one off Etsy) and using a specific pair of prescription glasses from Zenni. You pop out the lenses and put them in the 3D printed frame.
If you don't want to go for prescription lenses, use the eyeglass spacer included with your Quest (if they still include that!) and for added security, you may want to invest in a set of bumpers like this, which keep your glasses and the lenses from scratching each other.

Personally I'd just buy prescription lens inserts from a company like honsvr. They'll cost 50 bucks maybe.
You can get litter rubber things that sit on the VR headset and act as a bumper between your glasses and the lenses. I have to wear my glasses in my Quest 2 and I have AMVR ones on mine. I got them on Amazon....not sure if I can paste a link on here or not...I'll try:
It depends on how good the print is. The little clip that they clip ono is pretty hard to print out just right in which case you'll eventually get them on but might not wanna take em on and off all the time.
If multiple people are going to be using the headset you might just wanna do something more like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089FB5W1N/ and just have everyone wear their own glasses.
The biggest thing really is that glasses NEVER touch the oculus lenses. They will absolutely scratch them and it sucks.
It's about the same price as an average pair of glasses, usually between $60 and $100
I went cheap but more risky with a lens protector. I got them for quest but they likely make them for other headsets. They are $19 now but $15 when I got them. Little silicone rings that go around the lens and keeps your glasses from touching them.
https://www.amazon.com/AMVR-Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N

A simple set of lens rings can protect the Quest lenses by preventing glasses from hitting the lenses. There have been a few posts here saying their glasses were scratched, but I used them for almost a year before getting Reloptix prescription lenses without any issues.
These are a product you can buy, and have silicone on them, but there are also free files you can use to 3d-print them, or buy them on Etsy, etc.
Disagree. 'impossible for most lens thicknesses'. If you've got a strong enough prescription, the lenses of your glasses will still make contact with OQ2 lenses.
I picked up a set of these from AMVR and had to go to the middle thickness. In actuality, it SHOULD have been using the most thick, but that more pressure against the bridge of my nose than I liked.
Ultimately, I bought prescription lenses from Reloptix. I like that the lenses themselves attach magnetically to the base, so that they're easy to remove (for the norms) or swap (for other ocularly enhance fam members with their own 'scrips). There are cheaper options (even with magnetics) similar to /u/LostHisDog's suggestion, but Reloptix has provided phenomenal support (even well before the sale), and however they charge things to the card was acceptable to my HSA (along the same lines as prescription scuba mask inserts, or prescription sport 'goggles', it seems).
I got mine about a week ago - here are some tips for your first few days:

You can add these to help prevent lenses touching your glasses. Puts a buffer edge around the lenses that is a little thicker than the stock ones and also as a silicone cover for the ring. I use some cheaper extra thick printed ones for my rift s and quest that I got on Etsy awhile back.
The rest can be found in other comments here
I've been thinking about doing this, but I'm going to try out the anti scratch lens rings. The ones I ordered are from Amazon, AMVR, which now has a "Pro" Version.

I have a Rift S and wear glasses. There is plenty of clearance between lenses and the edge of your face from within the facial interface so you should be fine. But if you want a little additional peace of mind, you can get these protective rings from Amazon:

I use these on my Quest 2 as that headset has less clearance but they the also fit on the Rift S. They consist of two plastic rings and silicone coverings of varying thickness. I use the 7mm covers which are the thickest and as long as the glasses lenses are not too convex they work fine. You just need to pop out the existing plastic rings and insert these in their place.

Get these https://www.amazon.com/AMVR-Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N
and youll be fine. Make sure they have the silicon covers or the rings will protect the headset but scratch up your glasses.
I play both just fine with glasses just be careful taking the headset on and off because even with those protectors if you have pointy glasses you could still scratch the lenses and they scratch super easy. edit: (only if you take the headset off at weird angles or wiglle your glasses around a lot, non typical use basically)
I would just get the quest 2. You can still play pcvr games with virtual desktop if you have a decent computer.
Use these (the thickest ones). They’re silicone so they won’t damage your glasses either.

Just saying I wear glasses and was worried about this so I picked up some AMVR glasses protector which fits right on the lens and it makes it so you don't need to use a glasses spacer. I love it and you might want to consider checking it out(It doesn't ruin FOV at all and helps with blocking light
I use these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089FB5W1N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I haven't seen any silicon covers for the Quest 2 facial interface yet, but the Q1 covers fit ok.
Awesome idea!
Bought a similar one from Amazon, hopefully it works.

It can scratch the Oculus lenses or your glasses. However, there are some solutions that work better than a spacer. I am getting this one for my Quest 2: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089FB5W1N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I suggest https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089FB5W1N?pf_rd_r=XPCH4QC4PNNV6XES4WDS&pf_rd_p=6fc81c8c-2a38-41c6-a68a-f78c79e7253f over 3D printed rings because it also covers ring with silicon rather than exposed plastic hitting glasses.
You can alternatively get prescription lens and adapter like https://widmovr.com/ as well.
I don't use glasses but if I were a glasses wearer, I'd probably go with a prescription lens add on. Everyone goes with Widmo but the Reloptixs ones shown here seem much better since you can easily take them off for when you want to show the headset to people who don't wear glasses. Unfortunately they don't seem to be for sale yet on their site except for kickstarter people.
The cheaper route would be to just go with protective lens rings like these amvr ones. They just make the frames around the lenses longer, so that they stop the glasses before they come into contact with the lenses.
The lens spacer that is included just pushes your face a little further away from the lenses which might help a little but there is still risk and it will also make your fov smaller.
Expensive option is get plano lens from someone like WidmoVR. With this you can protect lens from not only by player with glasses on but from other elements. Cheaper option is to get 3D printed rings or AMVR Lens Anti-Scratch Ring.

I got the AMVR lens rings. They replace those and also add more protection for people with glasses. https://www.amazon.ca/Anti-Scratch-Protecting-Glasses-Scratching-Compatible/dp/B089FB5W1N
I use a Rift S. I wear glasses 100% of the time. I bought cheap 3d printed lens protectors on amazon. I believe they were $17? You pop off the lens covers, and pop on the new ones. This keeps your glasses from hitting the lenses of the VR headset. I can't speak for other headsets, however.
