I just got these to do Avery the next few times since she’s recovering from knee surgery. It took a while but they cut her coat nice. I used the shortest guard on it for her body and legs and used the #10 blade on her face. I like them.

well i’m glad you were able to get it out! sorry if i over reacted, it’s kind of common in our job for no one to listen when it is serious lol. carries over to the internet unfortunately. the least expensive and best clippers are the andis 2 speed. it comes with a #10 blade already. i’m pretty sure it’s every groomers first pair of clippers lol. they last a long time too. sorry if i came off harsh. they’re on sale on amazon

Those clippers won’t do at all. If you want quality products, you’re going to have to spend a bit more.

The Andis 2 Speed clippers are going to be your best bet. It’s out of stock on Amazon but I’m sure you can find it sold elsewhere.

As for the scissors, the ones you picked are going to make the job SO much harder. They’re super tiny and they look like something I might get to do touch ups around the face, but certainly not an entire dog. I’ve heard good things about Purple Dragon Shears and they’re extremely inexpensive. However I have heard that they often have to be professionally sharpened before they’re usable. You can find some good deals on Affordablegroomingshears.com as well.

When buying a dryer, you need to keep in mind that if you’re wanting to blow out your dogs hair so that it’s straight and you get that fluffy poodle look, you will need to find something that will get them dry before the curl sets in. If that’s not a concern you may be able to settle for something cheaper. I’ve never used or really heard much about the brand you linked so I can’t speak to the quality however I’ve heard great things about Flying Pig dryers.

If you’re really committed to grooming your dog properly, it’s best to just invest in decent tools whenever possible. Cheap equipment requires more maintenance and you end up paying the price in the long run anyway.

I use the Andis ACG2 for my standard. I just have a set of guide combs as well. I go the same length all over and they do wonderfully! Much cheaper than the groomer! Amazon Links below..
