I had problems with mice eating some plastic hoses, I used peppermint oil and water and strayed it all over my engine in places that wouldn’t damage the engine, Also used cotton balls w peppermint oil in hard to reach places, also purchased this Under hood repellant
There’s dedicated YouTube to rodent prevention, last month fkers gnawed through my windshield wiper hose , 2013 Prius , 110K in LA , It’s a common thing for Rodents to chew through electrical wires , hoses , nesting under your hood cause it’s warm ,
Got this rodent repellant on Amazon Not sure if it works , but I’ve test it and it lights up, blinks and sends high pitch noises .
Also started spraying with peppermint oil and water,
Cotton balls w Peppermint oil in hard to read places, All around my engine compartment, under my car , tire , etc.
Hope this helps
My friend literally was just talking about this two days ago because she had her car in the shop for the same issue. The mechanic recommended a device like this to prevent it from happening again.
Best of luck to you. Someone I was talking to heard a thumping while driving her minivan. Come to find out they were little tiny bags of garbage in her engine bay. She thanked rats put them there. They also chewed through some of the wiring. I was lucky they did not do that to me but some of the wiring nowadays is soy based on the coating so it does attract rodents. The below are what I purchased
