I've been using a VAVA USB C Hub 7 in 1 but it slow charges the Duet. I was trying to find it on Amazon but seems they've taken down that product. Anyways when I was looking for one, this Anker hub was my second option, saw some people in here that love it too
It's a full-featured USB-C port, so yes. You'll probably want a USB-C hub like this one so you can connect external storage and charge the Stead Deck at the same time.
Why not something like this?
I just found out that I was wrong. After reading some more, it seemed like my initial conclusion was incorrect. I rebooted my Mini and used my existing hub and it worked!
I am using my Anker USB C Hub now. I have one monitor connected to the hub through the HDMI output. My second monitor is connected directly to the Mini's HDMI output.
I have been a fan of Anker products, mainly bc of their customer service if something breaks. They have a USB-C hub on amazon that is a 7 in 1 with 2 usb 3.0, 1 usb c, 1 hdmi, and a micro and regular SD card slot. Also has a power in plug. With this single hub I run a USB hub into the usb port, power, and hdmi for my 1st external monitor. I then have a usb c adapter for my second external screen directly into the computer. Ive tested all the ports at once and they work well. Cant go wrong for 40 bucks. I didn't need the thunderbolt 3's data transfer power, nor the money for a more powerful hub. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I use an Anker usb-c hub connected to my monitor via HDMI. The hub also has charging PD pass-through, so I can just connect my phone to the hub and off to DeX is goes. Very simple.
I have this one but I'm sure there are newer/better ones now:
Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The PCIe card, no. Wifi streaming, yes.
I'm doubtful that Y spliiter you have will work since the headset will need usb 3.0.
Another option is a Powered USB-C dock like this one.
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/
There is no external monitor support in 16.1.1. External monitor support in stage manager will be back in 16.2. I am using the 16.2 RC Public Beta, and external support is back. I also use an Anker USB C hub with HDMI, and it works flawlessly.
Chromecast requires some kind of WiFi, and both it & the phone to be on the same network. But it shouldn't need internet for device mirroring - just a LAN. (It might need internet for the initial setup.)
If an update did this, I hope it's patched rapidly. This is a selling feature for many people so they'd lose customers over it.
Recently, I had another user recommend a hub that he says even worked with Pixel devices. It's an Ahnker hub for $35 USD.
Give that hub a try, and if the problem persists then it's probably the device, and then you can report it to Samsung.
Motorola flagships also have something similar to Dex, if it comes to a worst case scenario.
Thanks for the elaboration! I was thinking I’d have an Anker usb-c hub connected to the deck, then this connected to the hub’s HDMI port, and to the nreal air. Same setup I have with my SIIG, which works well.

I'm not familiar with chromecast, but perhaps all you need is a multiport usb-c hub. Something like this.
It's got hdmi port for connecting to a monitor and usb ports for connecting your wired mouse and keyboard.
This is the one I have been using for a few months now with my M1 iPad Pro with no problems. I have several Anker products from hubs, to power banks, to wireless iPhone chargers, to cables, and never a problem with any of them.
Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub (7-in-1) with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery
I use something like this with my usb-c powered computers, attaching a mouse, keyboard, camera, etc: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53
When I plug that into my android phone to charge, it recognizes the keyboard, headphones, and mouse (while also charging). It doesn't seem to do video though.
Have you considered getting a usb-c hub?
They are a bit expensive but very useful and versatile. I like to use mine to connect a mouse, keyboard, and flash drives all while still charging!
For 35$ you probably can't get a dock.
But an adapter you can. It does HDMI out, power delivery and USB hub.
Sorry I'm not seeing it, I swear I'm not trying to be rude. I already own the gofanco hdmi to usbc adapter. I'm thinking about trying this guy out. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2-Gray/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=2G6XJLACLYJXL&keywords=usb+c+hub+with+power+delivery&qid=1664859161&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI0LjgzIiwicXNhIjoiNC4xOCIsInFzcCI6IjMuNzgifQ%3D...

Yeah, but if you removed all of the non USB-C ports, you'd still be left with a ton of electronics and a hub, including power regulation that won't exist in a "split cable".

Hubs are safe to use because of all of the embedded electronics, passive "split cables" are dangerous.
EDIT: Not able to edit the post, so posting as a comment.
Found the solution: Change HDMI 2.1->2.0 in OSD setting.
However, I'm now capped at 1440p 60Hz, what else am I missing? could my HDMI be bad?
This is the USB C hub I'm using (supports 4K via HDMI): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53
I thought there might be a problem like that.
So are male-to-female/female cables also forbidden by the USB spec for the same reason?
Now, there are USB-C hubs that provide a USB-C port for power input, and another for USB-C data.
Example: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53
In principle, if you took that device and removed all non-USB-C ports, you should have basically what I am talking about, right?
I've purchased Anker 7 in 1 hubs for our Mac users who need to connect multiple USB A devices, SD card slot, and a USB A port to their computers. They've held up well and are pretty compact.
Yes it does. I got it from a random store in a shopping mall. Here is an amazon link to the hub: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=sr\_1\_3?keywords=Anker+USB+C+Hub%2C+341+USB-C+Hub&qid=1662323328&sr=8-3
Oh wow -- I've been at this for a few days and just now grabbed my kid's ANKER USB-C hub (used for a MacBook), and tried it with the SD card. It popped up immediately in the Google "Files" app! I can browse .RAF and .jpg files on two different SD cards 100% of the time.
It looks like it may just be related to quality of brand for OTG legitimacy, as I consider ANKER one of those companies that has risen to the top. Here is the model that's working for me. If nothing else this empty-ass thread might help someone in the coming weeks overcome a similar problem.
"Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub (7-in-1) with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5 Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More"

So I found this Anker one which says it’s usb c port is a data port. In the video is says sync data from phones through it but would this go both ways. Would I be able to access my sd cards on the laptop and phone at the same time or just the laptop be able to read off my phone?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_api_i_ZEH22F4HVDCCCCXAG4GR_0
No, no dongles exist with that many slots. You're looking at a full on very expensive dock (hundreds of dollars) if you want that type of versatility. Most only have two slots and I am NOT sure if the SD slot and micro SD slots on them can be used at the same time! (most likely they can't). Some of the micro SD slots are very iffy on them. There are even USB-C dongles / docks with NVME slots! (these require a 60W external power supply though; some modern motherboards that support 60W charging through the USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port will work with them).
Note that the Anker 7-in-1 is the cheapest option in their lineup (without ethernet) for one.
its the anker series 3, 7-in-1 usb-c hub. Not sure which region you're in, but heres amazon us.
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/
i was 25€ where i live. They also have a 5-in-1 and 8-in-1, but the 7 has 1x hdmi which is all i need. Build quality is good and you get a protective pouch to put it in. It also has (65w?) power pass through to charge the deck in use.
Looks like it would do the trick. I've personally never heard of the brand. Lots of people use the anker 7 in 1, it's cheap and works. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=BCLT19MBWVKH&keywords=anker+7+in+1+usb+c+hub&qid=1658821695&sprefix=anker+7+%2Caps%2C128&sr=8-3
I think what you want is something more like this.
It doesn't have to be Anker or any specific brand, what you want is a hub or connector that has passthrough capabilities.
not the same guy but you should get a hub with a power delivery/ power pass through. Something like this
A cheaper version of this would be an Anker dongle. Just switch one USBC cable from laptop to PC. Also gives you an extra HDMI slot so you can run 2 monitors in addition to the laptop screen (laptop graphics card permitting). One like this is what I use.
Or just RDP from main PC into your laptop?
Refresh rate is how many images your monitor displays per second. Having more of it makes things smoother and more responsive. Nowadays everything supports 60 hz. Windows can do higher refresh rates without problems, but Linux (and especially the specific setup used on the steam deck) are problematic.
So, in terms of refresh rate: Stick to 60hz. If it isn't mentioned anywhere, you can safely assume that it's 60hz.
Resolution is simply how many pixels are on a monitor. It's expressed in vertical x horizontal values, the steam decks internal screen for example is 1280x800. It also has an uncommon aspect ratio (how wide it is compared to tall). 720p means 720 vertical pixels in the standard 16:9 asepct ratio, so it's 1280x720. That's the largest video you can fit on the decks screen, so you probably got the number through that.
The universal default for the last few years has been 1920x1080. The steam deck can output that resolution without any problems and most programs are designed for it. Since it's the de facto default, it will probably be the cheapest.
So, for monitors, look for 1080p (again, 16:9 aspect ratio is implicitly assumed) resultion and 60hz refresh rate. It should also have an HDMI input.
To connect that to the deck, you will also need an adapter. I assume you need at least an HDMI display output, a USB-C port to plug the charger in and two USB-A ports for mouse and keyboard. This is an example of one that has all you need. I personally don't have one, so I can't tell you how well it actually works. Anker is a reputable brand for accessories though and the reviews of this one include some happy steam deck users.
I've read through your responses.
I have a similar setup but use Kodi not with Plex. Kodi will give you a similar UI and metadata but can play local media. There are skins to make it more like Plex.
You can use Kodi on a Chromecast with Google TV, a USB-C to USB hub and an external drive.
This hub will run the drive and power the Chromecast through it's USB-C port.
I use an SSD for media. It doesn't mind getting bumped around.
Set up your media and metadata at home while you have a good Internet connection.
Any USB-Ethernet adapter will work but if you're looking for a hub to plug it into, I can highly recommend this one. I've confirmed it on my own deck that it'll pass charging through at full power as well as wired internet and a USB drive all at the same time.
I got this one, hdmi worked without the charger connected, I’m not sure why that would make a difference to the video signal. Looks the same except no Ethernet port. Maybe an option if you want to switch it out before your deck gets there.
That’s exactly what’s do. Just a USB-C dongle with a card reader built in. It’s an Anker.

I then use the Files app to copy the photos onto the iPad. Mostly I use it as a backup, but if I have some downtime between shots I do a preselect or sometimes a client wants to make a selection on the spot.
Okay thank you, would you like to add the link to the one you have?
I’m not a heavy user so I only wanna use it for HDMI switch or HDD sometimes 🤷🏾♂️ [Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub (7-in-1)](www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_SGZ6DS6ZMHTH5SWSQ9TV)
I have this one. It has no ethernet but works well with the original Steam Deck power supply.
Deal: Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Hub Adapter, with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_dl_5M110C9816BQYA1AFB6A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Really nice usually means more functions. 7 in 1 or 9 in 1 you can go nuts and spend $70 easy
I didn't anticipate needing more than usb so I got a cheap one (that works fine) just for usb interfacing but also no pass through. So make sure it's has that so you have power
Then it's up to you. Others will recommend cheap ones with unknown brands. I myself like this one https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/
Very good point. I'll use the one I have now for my phone or one side of my laptop and get this:
Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub (7-in-1), with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EC9CD4J8FF1XHKNDJ8H8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Using this one personally working awesome so far. The SD card reader works great in desktop mode. Pass through works great, video out working great.
I'd recommend the Anker 7in 1.
Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub (7-in-1), with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_9CJ8BQC193NTANEE4RFX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This may be the stupidest question you’d have to answer honestly and that’s fine I’m kind of a idiot lately lol
My stupid question is, how do you still charge it while it’s plugged into the Hdmi port. Like I know you gotta plug the dongle into the top of the SD then the hdmi from monitor to SD but I don’t understand how it charges while using it? Do I just plug in another usb c to another port on the dongle? and that charges the desk
A USB C to HDMI adapter will be fine if you want to connect to a monitor.
A USB C hub would be better as it allows you to connect more peripherals (like a USB keyboard and mouse) and also allows you to charge the deck while it is connected.
This Anker 7-in-1 semms to be a popular choice: https://www.amazon.de/Anker-Upgraded-Adapter-Delivery-Pixelbook-grau/dp/B07ZVKTP53
Your steam deck will handle multiple Bluetooth devices just fine.
You can also connect Xbox One controllers via USB cables.
This is a the one i use
I will link the version I used just to verify
But yeah it worked fine, we didn't test powering the SD with it, just HDMI output on game mode
We plugged it in then plugged in the HDMI cord, took a few seconds, thought it didn't work at first and then boom
We were playing castle crashers on a TV
I was playing with the deck for my controller
My gf had an 8bitdo pro+ connected via BT
Worked fine
Apple are too overpriced and looked into anker but one of them fries macbooks making ports not work.
I found this one but apparently people in the reviews are saying it short circuits macbooks making ports not work.
Have you tried an actual USB C dock or OTG adapter? In theory, this should support the OnePlus 9: (no clue if it supports "warp charging", but I see no reason why it wouldn't) Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub (7-in-1), with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_FNBYEG92GQEQCVJ294QP

I've got the exact same hub you recommended, but I can't get it to work with my monitor via HDMI.
I connect power to the PD port, connect the USB-C to my Deck, and plug the HDMI into the monitor and the port on the hub, but nothing every comes up. What am I doing wrong?
Limited-time deal: Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub (7-in-1), with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_dl_271SWT8SB3F6QXEWKF7R?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This will honestly do everything you need.
I would go for the Anker USB C Hub as well. I have one and I absolutely happy with it.
Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Adapter, 4K HDMI, 100W Ladepower, USB-C & USB-A 5Gbps Datenanschluss, microSD- und SD-Kartenleser, für MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, und mehr https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_S8Z4MZVDCR3AX8EW1S4Z?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The one suggested in the FAQ (this one) is a pretty cheap hub from a reputable brand, which supports PD in as well as HDMI out (4K30Hz max). If you need 4K60Hz, the price will start to go up a fair amount sadly. If all you need is HDMI and PD in, you might be able to find cheaper ones (maybe someone else could better recommend here), but cheap Chinese no-brand hubs may have odd issues, or be lying about their specifications.
I recently got this $35 Anker hub for my laptop. It does eat some of the capacity of whatever charger you're using, so I'm not sure how the Steam Deck's 45w charger will handle that. My laptop has a 65w charger and a notification pops up saying it's charging slowly if I run it through the hub.
I have an Anker 7 port but I use it with my work Dell laptop. Works great as a docking station. One plug into the laptop from the hub. Monitor, usb dongle for keyboard/mouse, usb dongle for headset always plugged in. Never an issue with it all though it does get warm.
Maybe take a look at the simpler mobile dock/hubs? For example:
Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub (7-in-1), with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_B2G8KHS7SP415JDMG8CK
Oh wow I’m actually really excited for this world to open up for you! To answer your question, yes! That’s exactly what happens. You plug your Mac into HDMI (this is the dongle I use) and the other end into whatever display you want. I usually use a television. And you can have whatever is on your Mac screen mirrored on the secondary display. You can even close your Mac and operate it on just the Television or monitor using separate peripherals. So if you wanted you could close your laptop and use it as a desktop.
Now they really cool part is that you can also use secondary displays as an extended display. Meaning instead of mirroring what’s on your laptop screen you can instead run two independent displays and seamlessly switch between them and effectively double the amount of content or information you can display at once. In the context of logic for example, you can have your project open on a monitor or a television, and at the same time you can have an instance of Alchemy up on your laptop screen. Or a drum sequencer, or finder (I don’t love the file explorer in logic).
You should check it out! And let me know if you have any questions
The switch dock won't work because it doesn't use the same method for video out put as standard USBc. If your phone is capable of displaying video out via USBc then something like this should work for you
What do you need? How many USB ports? Ethernet?
I have 2 hubs. One has power, Ethernet, 4 USB, memory card, and 3 display ports which I use for my work laptop but also works with the iPad. That will be way over budget.
I have a travel one that has Ethernet, 3 USB ports (1 is USB-C), and HDMI port and also supports USB C charging.
Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub (7-in-1), with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_4806A9K96HQJ65AS5XMS

I saw really mixed reviews for other brands that had integrated Ethernet ports (like the Vemont one). This Anker one doesn't have an Ethernet port built in, but does have SD and micro SD. I had a Ethernet/usb adapter that I used to use for my Chromebook and that hooked up to the hub no problem. So depending on how you might use it, the Anker could work. It was a brand name I trusted. Needed a beefy power supply though. I used a 33watt.
This would work:
Anker [Upgraded] USB C Hub Adapter, 7 in 1 USB C Adapter with 4K HDMI, Power Delivery, USB C Data Port, microSD and SD Card Reader, 2 USB 3.0 Ports for MacBook Pro, Pixelbook, XPS https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_ENC6GHR11C0BF2SB7MDH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I’ve been using the anker 7 in 1 usbc hub. Has been great for me, use it every day to connect my monitor via hdmi as well as keyboard and wireless mouse. Also has power delivery and an extra usbc for data works great
Do not get qgeem. They are ass
Anker USB C Hub, 321 USB-C Hub (7-in-1), with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_7XW5S4GJVZKQGRQRNJMW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
For some reason your link is giving a 404 error but from the link it looks like it’s thunderbolt. Those are way more expensive than regular USBC hubs so I think this would be better
I have the same model but with two USB Cs and no Ethernet. . Of the two USB Cs only one can be used to charge the host device, the other is for data and slow charging (5v)
I used something similar to this for a while. It mostly worked, but running a display from it wasn't great, it would get quite hot, and -very rarely- it would cease to function entirely until given some time to cool off or something. I starting keeping a little fan running over it and that seemed to help quite a bit.
I hate to say it but, springing for the laptop manufacturer's dock is probably the best bet.
The situation I'm dealing with is similar. I have a work laptop and my own computer that share the same physical workspace. The "dock" (similar USB-C brick to what I linked you except it's Dell's stuff) has worked far better than the USB-C dongle-thing but, yes, it still seems to present its own problems on occasion.
Foremost among them is the occasional total loss of connectivity to the dock. Like, no monitors, no USB peripherals, no ethernet. Then, I have to unplug the dock's power, unplug the dock from the laptop, pop open the laptop's lid, shutdown the laptop, set the laptop back into its cradle powered down, plug back in the dock, then power everything back up. This happens maybe once a month. It's obviously all very annoying, but it happens a lot less often than the random weird shit the USB-C dongle thing would do.
I used these and plugged MicroSD cards into them that I had laying around. Just had to format them to FAT32 first ----

Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I am extremely fond of this one. Works with all of my larger devices… iPad, MacBook, Windows PC for work.
Would work with my android phone if I still used one as well.
Wow yeah sorry, I didn't realize that was an article, just looked at the first Anker hub listed and confused it with this one
I also didn't consider whether OP's system supports DP1. 4 and DSC which when combined with a compatible hub can allow your DP to run on just 2 lanes, freeing up some for a little bit of high speed data. At least that was how I understood it and how it appears to work on my personal system.
Yup! This is how I set mine up. I purchased this one
Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Hub Adapter, with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More by AnkerDirect
this is the one i bought that has worked well so far.
Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Hub Adapter, with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_7D316RMP3QPR7PVYWF2M
Do keep in mind the hub itself requires 15W so you’ll need a decent charger to use in order to charge the tablet while using the hub.
I use this one at home but it has only 1 display port
the 'supports windows' means the company will only support the device with their support center for windows or whatever setups.
it does not mean 'this device will not work on linux'
the company has no (official) idea on Linux, or is just playing dumb.
I have used several huge USB hubs from Anker with great success. I have one that is a 10 (?) port USB hub with 4 ports just for power (phone and tablet charging) with like a 60W power supply.
I have also used some Anker brand USB c multi port hubs such as .
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53 on my Pinebookpro, and Chrome Tablet.
Sure, Anker makes a bunch of variations, this one is most like mine: Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Hub Adapter, with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_MQDJ72G0CYWT7WJ6ZY5W
The 7-1 anker has been good so for. Says it work charge MBA with out a 45+ power brick but my 30w apple brick powers my mba just fine. Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Hub Adapter, with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_VXXWK21YZS616GZKHMWB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This is personally what I have, I want to upgrade to one with ethernet at some point but in no rush.
I did see this one posted a little while ago... Seems interesting... www.dockcase.com
I ended up getting 2 of these and so far they are plugged in with no issues. Idk if the stuff I am running just isn't cpu intensive enough, but atm I'm fine with it and don't plan on swapping out for another dock

Does it need to be Thunderbolt/USB 4 speeds? That's definitely going to be hard to come by in a "portable" form factor, as those sorts of docks/hubs require their own power and some sort of cooling (passive or otherwise).
If not, I've used this one from Anker for over a year now with no complaints, and it has everything you're looking for: 2xUSB 3.0 ports (5Gbps), 1xUSB-C, 1xUSB-C PD (85W output -- more than enough for an iPad), HDMI (up to 4K @ 30Hz), and SD/MicroSD card reader.
It's quite thin and easily fits into bags along with my 11" iPad Pro, no hiccups in use thus far using it for connect SD cards from cameras, to projectors to present, powering, etc. No ethernet, but I opted against one of those hubs bc it increases the thickness.
Doesnt have to be thunderbolt. This Ryzen laptop doesnt have thunderbolt anyways...a normal USB C dock/dongle with power delivery will work fine.
This on is $30 and you can have power display and more USB ports...https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/
I have had an Anker dongle that I love and it just happens to be on sale right now. This is what I would recommend because I know that it fits in the combo touch.
DeX is not an app, it's a built-in desktop shell for android. It may however require a powered dock as the shell uses a lot of power. You can get something like an Anker USB-C Hub.
DeX runs on Galaxy series devices S8 or newer. Though there are some exceptions like the A-series which does not have DeX. From Note9 forward, you just need a USBC to HDMI to activate DeX but the dock is a good idea because of power usage. Contemporary models will run DeX wirelessly as well.
Also the 845 SOC seems pretty good, that's what I have in a Note9 and it works fine for daily office tasks. I can see it's age a bit, but only because I've been using DeX since N9's release.
is this good sorry I’m not sure what I’m supposed to look in for the sub c hub is it the 100w power delivery
The Mac Mini exists for people who want to plug a bunch of stuff in, and it’s cheaper. I don’t know why you’d buy an iMac if you’re planning on running external displays. If you’re really set on the iMac for whatever reason (even though you’re more or less defeating it’s purpose by plugging a ton of stuff into it) and also want a bunch of ports, a decent quality hub is $28 and you can stick it on the back with some double-sided tape.
A secondary display with an iMac is a non-issue, either use a display with USB-C support or just use a standard USB-C to HDMI or DisplayPort cable. Wireless printers are ubiquitous, but if you insist on using a wired one that’s got those awful old USB type B ports on the back, you can get a type B to USB-C cable, or just use a tiny $2 A to C adapter with the stock cable.
This isn’t the monumental problem people are trying to make it out to be.
No worries I saw your edit. And agreed I would’ve thought it was a non issue.
I was going to grab one of these then I started looking at reviews. More than a few issues:
Looks like Mac Books are having the most issue with it versus other peripherals so I’m wondering if it’s due to a power setting on the USB Ports? The HOTAS setup should be protected but definitely iffy about plugging that in to my new rig
I know in Windows power profiles you can tell a USB port how to manage itself, so I wonder if maybe there’s an issue here that was overlooked.
I liked that one though b/c I could hide it under my chair. My setup doesn’t sound as beefy as yours so If I did just go USB (no C) the one you linked has a lot of ports!
Use a USB-C hub (link) You connect it to your phone, connect charger to HUB if phone battery is low/dead. Connect HDMI to an external monitor, connect mouse to USB. You can enter your PIN, password, or pattern using the mouse, since face unlock doesn't work for you.
Any monitor will work with dex. You just have to have a usb-c to HDMI cable or buy the HDMI to usb-c adapter. The downside to this is your phone will not charge as you use it.
You can use a USB hub with power delivery to get past this issue. I have the one below.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_3J94M6ZFZF0P0BPWM506
The charger is 65W and this is the hub - from what I read, the hub uses 15W so I assumed it would work. Now you mention it though, I just tried it with the laptop off and it started charging, so it does seem like the hub isn't delivering enough power.
Would you have any recommendations on a dock/charger that would work? I'm a bit stumped as I expected the current set up to do the trick.
I've been using this for 2 months without incident.
Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Hub Adapter, with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More
It doesn’t need to be thunderbolt. Just look for a usb c hub
Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Hub Adapter, with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_Dr15Fb36G168J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Good suggestion on Anker, this one seems like a good option; I would just use the second USB-C port on the MBA to charge my phone and use the hub for everything else (watch, headphones), assuming my other devices will charge through the USB-A slots /w no problem.
Does anyone have any recommendations on good "travel cable" setups for hooking up to monitors/televisions with HDMI ports? I assume I need a USB-C to HDMI, with an input for the charging cable. Something along the line of this product? Only chose that because I use Anker brand cables and external batteries.
Thanks!
I'll go with "neither". I bought something similar to this for my Surface Book 2 a while back.
I repurposed it on a 2nd monitor for Dex on my Fold2 and Xbox Game Stream and it works fine. Since my monitor is USB-C capable, designed for a MacBook, it provides plenty of power to the phone and makes for a clean setup (all the cables are just right behind the monitor). Shoot, sometimes I just use it as a fast charger on my desk for whatever USB-C ported device I have. Even on my surface book it handled a mouse, keyboard, ethernet cable, and monitor handily.
The only thing I am holding out for would be a 100% guaranteed way to get Dex at 60hz 4k... This only gets me to 2560x1440 60hz.
I was just coming to ask the same question in case there was something I was missing. My MBP isn't here yet and the one I got rid of had 4 USB-C ports so I didn't need to get as picky with a hub. There are only 2 ports in this new device so I'm not sure the "get a USB-C to USB dongle" is much of an answer. The hub I'm looking at is on sale on Amazon right now; the Anker 7-in-1 Hub for ~$22 US.
My goal is to have power pass through, but also get extra ports. This hub has 100w power pass-thru, then an additional USB-C port for Data, 2 USB 3.0 ports, a 4K HDMI port, a SD card reader and a Micro SD card reader. Its just bonus that it's Anker who I've always had great results with. I also like that it's a dongle, so it plugs in and gets out of the way so you still have access to the 2nd port on the device as well. (I have a couple of hubs that plug into the USB-C and feel super wobbly when I plug other things in... I don't like that.)
I can't find any hubs that support (or say they support) USB 4... this is a new thing to me and I don't know how much USB 4 matters or it's just a fancy way to say USB-C. *shrug*
I guess that’s a no then 😂
Does anyone have any recommendations for USB-C hubs? I’m still tempted by the Twelve South.
However, having just splashed out a grand on a new laptop it’s also tempting to get something like this for almost 1/3 of the price.
Anker USB C 7-in-1
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_wqzUFbEFNTNY1
Would this setup work?
MBA M1 has this anker usb c hub plugged in: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_ej3TFbZCZT7TT and has a monitor connected via the only hdmi port on the hub. If I have another monitor and buy something like a display link usb 3.0 to HDMI adapter, would it work if i plug it directly onto the anker hub as well?
I would look into a dock since not only this will give you an hdmi port but also usb-A ports and even Ethernet.
Here is the one I’m looking at:
Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Hub Adapter, with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_p7RSFb0GYGCH0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Something like this? A multi-port adapter. You can just use a USB A keyboard that way, much more common
I also wonder the same general assumption, so I went ahead and bought this and am hoping that it will suffice once adapted. I really have no idea what I'm doing, but I recently gave my gaming rig away and this is the same type of adapter/host adapter to extending monitor reach with monitors:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_rbkQFbATVXR4P?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Forgive me if I'm off topic.
Yes, you need a powered dock to run 2 monitors from one USB-C port (hdmi & Display port etc.)
Non powered docks with 2 monitor outputs can only do mirror mode.
You could run this to get a usb-c port back
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_AUEHFbY067PAR
As far as ethernet, there is an official adapter that replaces the power brick. So it doesn't include the other stuff you're looking for, but it doesn't connect to the USB-C port either, so you still have that available for a different adapter. As far as the USB, as far as I know, any USB hub will work IF it is getting enough power (which, as I understand it, some will, some won't). So if you had both of those products, and they work as expected, you'd have power, a USB connection, and ethernet.
I would suggest trying a powered USB hub, maybe something like this, although I'm just speculating that it would work, I can't confirm it. In any case, Amazon is pretty good about returns, so may be worth trying. And if you do, let us know! I may be interested in something like that myself later down the line.
EDIT: Okay, I gave in and ordered it 😂 if you don't need it right away, wait a couple days and I'll let you know how it works out. Assuming I remember to post back. Should be here Thursday. And I have already pre-ordered the ethernet adapter, though it'll probably be a while before that arrives. So when it does, I'll try to post back again as to whether it creates any conflicts (such as not generating enough power for the hub)
It sounds like you're having trouble because of the terminology you're using. Are you looking to connect a "monitor" or a "desktop computer"? A monitor is just a screen, that connects easily to a MacBook Air via USB-C, HDMI, etc. A desktop computer is a whole computer with it's own processor, storage, operating system, etc. Some desktop computers have a screen built in.
If you want to use a whole desktop computer as a display for your Mac, that is much more difficult. You would need special software like Duet Display or Astropad. But if it's just a monitor you're looking for, that is much more simple, and much more common.
Almost all monitors connect to any computer via HDMI. If you choose to use HDMI, you will need to buy an adapter. If you have a pre-2018 MacBook Air, you'll need an HDMI to Mini DisplayPort adapter, such as this one. If you have a newer 2018+ MacBook Air, you'll want an HDMI to USB-C adapter, such as this one. Some monitors like the LG Ultrafine 4K monitor can connect directly with USB-C, so you won't need an adapter if your MacBook Air has USB-C already. Also, many people use adapters with multiple ports to connect to their monitor for greater convenience. For example, if your Air has USB-C, this adapter will let you connect a monitor via HDMI, connect your laptop charger, and even connect USB peripherals (mouse, etc), all using only one USB-C port on your Air.
I would say the relatively cheap and convenient path for you would to be search for an "HDMI monitor" that is preferrably 24" or larger, and buy a multiport adapter compatible with your Air to connect to it.
For/with my M1 Mini and/or M1 MBA:
I'm still in the market for a good sleeve and an adjustable (height) stand for the MBA, since I just got it last week.
I'm not sure how much Valve will charge for the official dock but i have a good USB C Hub i use, and was just thinking ill 3D print a holder.
> That's a lot of fucking money. You're actually the moron on stage saying everyone should buy a $70 dock. You're an idiot.
Or...............
You could pay $10 x 8 for each of those ports, and only be able to use 4 at a time.
> You're an idiot.
Okay, lol. Says the one that has been sold a bridge and is angrily berating people for not falling for the same con.
> A 2019 Macbook Pro, as the "Pro" name implies, is $2500. The Framework laptop goes for around $1000.
We weren't discussing the prices of the laptops, we were discussing the port availability and the purpose of dongles - you knew this of course, which is why you changed the subject and avoided that point entirely.
Painful.
Just posted on my other answer. This one. $30
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Wow! $300? I paid $30 for this one. I'm sure I'm missing something
This is the dock that I use for my laptops, it supports 100w PD for the Zephyrus and 65w PD for the families various work laptops. One item of note is that the display ports are v1.4 on the dock, but if you use two or more monitors and have a high refresh rate display you may just need to get a USB-C to Display port cable for the faster display since USB-C is only so fast and cannot support a ton of fast monitors.
The main advantage of this dock is the faster display ports and 100W PD so you can dock for browsing. As others have said you will need to use the power brick for intensive workloads and gaming anyways (you can use the brick and USB-C PD at the same time).
If you just want USB and HDMI you can always grab something like the below item:
For a USB-C charger you just need to find a power brick that supports USB-C 100W PowerDelivery(PD) on one of the ports. If the brick does not have a cable you just need a 100w PD cable as well.
Edit: If you have a dock that is not 100w PD that is okay it will still work, it just will not be able to charge the laptop.
Hope this helps!
I have not tried that brand, but I have an Anker one that has worked well for me. Various models here:
Sure! This is what we have. We also have some of the 4-in-1 models. I haven't seen any difference in the two re: smartboard issues.
I'm getting my Pro in June so I've been thoroughly researching accessories to keep myself busy in the meantime lol. Here are some tips:
This guy tested all kinds of usbc hubs And this is a top pick and the one I'm getting. We have a similar use case! I'll be taking uni notes and drawing in procreate.
Then there's screen protectors. This guy tested the Paperlike 2 and another option. He didn't like Paperlike and suggested Bellemond instead if you want the paperlike experience (available on Amazon.)
If you want a separate keyboard and mouse, I highly recommend the Logitech pebble and K380. They're compact, cute, and great value for money. Logitech has really nice build quality.
My very personal recommendation would be to buy an Apple 2 meter usbc cable for charging, because in public spaces and even at home it's nice not to have to be so close to a plug. I've bought 2m cables from Apple for my iPhones for years! Lifechanger.
I saw this guy recommend the Tomtoc Portfolio carrying case, and that's 100% the one I'm getting for school. You can put your iPad in there with a keyboard case around it, and also put the dongle, mouse, your airpods, charger etc in the compartments.
Another thing you might like for at home is a desk stand, so you can set your iPad up in it while you type with a separate keyboard and mouse. This is great for writing. There's plenty on Amazon and they're all fine.
And this might not be of any interest at all to you, but I'm planning to take my iPad to lectures instead of a laptop, so I'm getting the Logitech Combo Touch keyboard case. It has a full, regular keyboard and a trackpad. If I would have gotten the 2020 IPP, I would have gone for the Logitech Folio Touch. The folio touch has the nice extra of keeping your pencil in place with a strap!
And if you want extra (portable) storage, portable Samsung SSDs are top tier and widely available. Hope it helps! ☺️
I got an anker usbc hub from amazon. 2 USBA, 1 USBC, SD and microSD, power USBC, and HDMI. Had no problems with it.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks hubsdocks. I should have just added this spec:
HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 15-ee0002na
https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c06672980
It's supposedly capable of Displayport 1.4 and PowerDelivery.
The monitor is an Iiyama PROLITE B2280WSD-W1 (provided by work, I believe up to 75Hz rr but not too important for my uses).
The main goal is just to tidy my AC power, 2 USB devices and HDMI out into one usb C. I may consider this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2-Gray/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=psdc_430443031_t3_B0874M3KW4 with an additional usb type A hub connected to the extra usb C data socket. That shouldn't be an issue... right? 😅
Thanks very much for your advice 👍
I use this one. Works great. Doesn't fall out of the USB port. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_35E70J93CM3VTBY0T83A
Nice! I got this USB C Adapter, did a little research and this one from Anker is good! I also ordered this laptop sleeve. Literally have all the accessories before the actual laptop haha. Also picked up Samsung T7 SSD. Im set for another 6 years.
You really don't need anything special, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53 works. Not only is Anker a trusted brand but they properly derate and disclose that derate, that's beyond rare. By allowing for 100W input it can provide 85w charging, ample for any use. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L3W79R3 is slightly cheaper, it is limited to 60W input however so it only provides 47W pass through charge, however if your laptop is charging with 45W, it's great.
I had a look and I cant really find one for that price point, you would probably have to increase your budget slightly
As for specs, you need to ensure that it can deliver 45w of power (if not more) but most hubs like I have linked should work. Sorry I couldnt find something in budget - good luck
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZVKTP53?psc=1&th=1&linkCode=gs2&tag=koditips-21
You're looking for a usb hub with charge pass through. Something like this I reckon
To plug into a bigger monitor/TV, you have multiple options :)
It's such a versatile little thing. I love it.
> Can you link the USB hub you have?
I got it for my Steam Deck. Works great with it too!
EDIT: Forgot mention, used a bluetooth K&M and it worked well too!
I have had my Deck for a while, I would say the 256GB would be prefect choice. I run all the games of a SD Card no problem, even though I have the 512GB model couple. Also would like to point out that the SteamDeck is a full blown computer so can have uses outside of gamming to, Linux skill are quite handy to have in the Job market (Says the IT manager).
Defiantly recommend a SD card a USB-C Hub:
A good cheap USB-C Hub (Anker 341): https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/
A solid good SD Card that goes on sale a lot (256GB $25 or 512 GB $50, don't pay higher then that):https://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-Adapter-microSDXC-MB-ME512KA-AM/dp/B09B1HMJ9Z/
Thanks for the reply. This is the Anker i'm using
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
if I need something else that will work i don't really know what to look for.
The 16GB is worth it, but not necessary for a med student. This one's going to come down to how cash-strapped you are at the moment. Opt for it if you can, financially.
For accessories, the only one you'll really want to invest in is some sort of USB hub. Anker and Satechi are both good choices. Get a cabled one, not a rigid one, and make sure it has at least:
Everything else is optional. If you're going to be working at a desk with a monitor and need a keyboard, Logitech's K380 is quite good and has a MacOS layout.
This is the way - search Satechi or if that is a bit expensive, I recently got one of these for my macbook air M2 - works a dream https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've got the GoFanco from Amazon US and it got shipped to the UK in a week.
I then used a hub https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which charges the Steam Deck and connects the GoFanco and Nreal Air video output.
No problems so far and I can use the same set up on my Samsung tablet with Dex
Definitely get a hub. Adds extra ports and functionality. This is the one I use...
I already bought this USB hub - it works great and simple to use. Do you think getting the Deck Dock is worth getting instead? Is there anything it can do BETTER?
This is working fine for me, has all I need, for less than half the price.
Not really a proper dock, I've been using this Anker USB hub until the official dock comes out. Works well enough for my needs.
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53
My apologies. $35. Still...
I have used many Anker product with good results. I would recommend the USB C Hub that I currently use, but it doesn't have the 3.5mm jack you'd like. I have the Anker 551 8-in-1 iPad USB C Hub in my Amazon Cart, and will be hitting the Buy button soon.
I think around $111.24 through Amazon...

The Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub is what I use for my iPad Desktop setup also. Works really well for all my external device needs.
I use an Anker USB C Hub, and this Anker charger. Have had no operational or heat related problems. I can't speak for the Sabrent switch, although I see it gets just ok reviews (3.8 stars), not the best. Have never used their products.
I also have an M1 iPP 11.
Anker USB C Hub, 321 USB-C Hub... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
OP said they have this hub which has an HDMI output, so they only need the HDMI cable from the hub to the TV.
I use the Anker USB C Hub, 321 USB-C Hub (7-in-1), with my M1 iPad Pro 11 since early August and really like it a lot. I have the SAMSUNG SSD T7 Portable External SSD 1TB hooked up to it. Have also had the SD card and 3.0 USB A drive in at the same time, and they all show in the Files App. I am a Realtor, and take a lot of photos and videos, and so far the hub has held up very well. I use several Anker products, from batteries to chargers, cords, and hubs. Never had a problem with any of them.

Why hub? Because if your deck runs out of juice mid-transfer you'll have potential issues with corrupting your sd card.
A truly all-in-one solution would be to use something like one of Dell's USB Hub Ultrasharp monitors (27" example).
With that, you have a single USB-C cable running from monitor to laptop, which provides power to the laptop, and connects the laptop to both the display and the USB and network connections in the monitor.
It's elegant and neat, but does mean that when you want to upgrade the monitor, you're going to need to address the USB-C connectivity again too.
On the flipside, you can do something far simpler like use this Anker USB-C hub. Laptop's PSU plugs into it, it then plugs into the laptop, and you plug your monitor into its 4K HDMI socket.
Yeah the USB-C "standard" is super confusing. There are a ton of different capabilities that devices may or may not be able to use over USB-C. If the device advertises PD (power delivery) capability then you can charge it over USB-C. I use a hub similar to this one: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53
Fortunately, power delivery and display port output are becoming more and more common on modern laptops so it's less of a big deal but it's still a good idea to closely look at the laptop specs to confirm that it supports them.
"Thunderbolt" gives more bandwidth so you can run things like eGPUs or multiple 4K external monitors and by default supports power delivery and display output.
Its called a external USB-C hub. Example:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53
There is no con but you must pick the right size as something even slightly bigger might not fit
Also consider picking up one or more microSDs (I have a 512GB for more games, and a 256GB with Windows for extra stuff) and even an external SSD might be cool; if you're gonna use it on the bed, perhaps having it plugged in with an extension to a hub is also nice (so you can have all the ports for more space, accessories and stuff), for example say this pair of hub and GaN charger by Anker
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53
https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Anker-Adapter-PowerPort-MacBook/dp/B088TFZ942
(just an example)
then extend it with a long usb c male-female cable and you're playing with power
Thank you! Really enjoying it now that Apple finally made plugging it in to a monitor something worth doing.
I got this one from Anker on Amazon, and it works great. I also got a Samsung T7 external SSD for use with the hub. Also works great with the iPad setup.

I have the Anker 341 which has two type A, one type C and one PD charging port.
However I also have a Sabrent USB port extender which gives me more type A ports, which works with my two arcade fight sticks, then I have the type C port for my SATA SSD (with adapter), the first type A port for keyboard, the 2nd type A for the Sabrent extender, then I plug in both my joysticks into the Sabrent. I can plug my mouse into the third port if I need to.
The Sabrent lets you disable the ports you arent using on the extender.

I had no extra input lag (that i could tell) from this.
??? what? I have an anker one with all the same features except for LAN and it's $30 what are you on about?
my steam deck hub: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53
The Thunderbolt ports on your MacBook are also USB-C ports, so any USB-C hub should work. There's tons of them, with standard USB(-A) ports, card readers, HDMI output, and whatever else you might want. Anker is a reputable example:

A USB hub like one of these
I have this Anker USB C hub that I got from Amazon for my M1 iPad Pro 11, and it works fine. I am a fan of Anker products.

I have https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ (Anker 7-in-1 USB-C hub; no ethernet, though) and it's worked pretty well.
Anker 7-in-1. Better to pay a bit more for sustained reliability.

Here is the one I got, works nicely:
Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
A usb c hub. You plug that into the usb c slot on the deck, then you plug the normal usb controllers into the hub.

Something like
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53
This is the way. Works perfectly with the deck.

Might be a bit expensive, but I use an Anker USB hub that has power delivery and also does video via Hdmi. Works pretty well for work. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There are lots of good options. Anything from Anker is solid. This is what I bought, and I love it.
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53
I have this one https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ works really nicely and comes with a little case to keep it on. They also do one with an ethernet port https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerExpand-Adapter-Delivery-Ethernet/dp/B087QZVQJX/
I don't know. I bought mine 2 weeks ago but it was this one.
I'm using this one and it works great so far for me, at least connecting to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
Dude. Just cough up the dough for a reputable one. The Anker 341 is less than $30. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref_=ast_sto_dp
If you don't need the ethernet, the same hub is available for $15 less.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thats what I've been using and haven't had any issues.
If you're poor, get a high quality USB-C hub that allows passthrough PD charging.
This will allow you to use your keyboard, mouse or multiple game controllers/arcade fight sticks. Everyone should have this at the minimum. Remember to plug them in before powering on the Deck so the game controllers get higher ID priority than the built in deck controllers.
I got this one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53
If you're rich, get a USB dock with an ethernet port, and a 26000 mah battery bank.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B095YKQBHM/ (this is a dock).
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XRJZXKY/

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Portable-Delivery-A1291-dp-B089D4176K/dp/B089D4176K/

I got this and confirm it works perfectly
Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I had a deck on week 2, and I had to RMA because of a power button issue after about 8 weeks. I just got the replacement, and I can confirm the fan is a bit quieter now, and some other quality control issues seem better than the very early unit I got.
I use basic Anker Dock. Works pretty solid at 1080p @ 120hz. It's limited to 4k 30hz though, so you might need something better if you want to run 4k 60hz. Delivers power fine.
I have experience with some better docks for other computers, a really good top notch brand is Charjen Pro. Best general C dock on the market right now, in my opinion, just slightly more pricy than other 4k 60hz ones.
I don't know if it's directly applicable to your iMac, but I'm running two monitors on my M1 Mac Mini with this hub.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53
One monitor uses an HDMI to DVI cable out of the Mac, and the other monitor uses an HDMI to DisplayPort cable from the hub.
I use this Anker one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I’ve been pretty satisfied with this, anker stuff is usually decent quality in my experience.
Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I am pleasantly surprised with this Anker USB-C 7-in-1 hub. It works for an external monitor AND does chargethrough well. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o00\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I definitely agree about a recommended gear thread. Possibly a weekly mega thread or something would be a good idea. That or just a pinned post.
I placed my order yesterday so I'm still waiting for my Steam Deck to be shipped.
That being said, I ordered these two things so far:
I'll let you know how they are when I get everything up and going. I went with these two though since I've had good experience with both brands in the past. Particularly for the screen protector, I use this brand for my Nintendo Switch and they are really good. Reviews seem to suggest the same for Steam Deck.
I'll pick up a microSD soon as well, but I have a 512GB model so I'm not too rushed. Curious what people would sugget.
I've been using an Anker hub for three weeks now with no issues (I'd not heard of the hub issues). I've plugged HDMI, usb keyboards, mice, my usb-c monitor, sd cards and pd (power delivery) into it. I've also used it with a usb-c extension cable attached.
This one if you are curious: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53
This one has served me well.
Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I got this one yesterday, haven’t really tried it yet to be honest.
the charging cable doesn't work with USB C (which is what thunderbolt is) so that's not an option, since you should only use the cable that came with it. If you don't live in Europe you should be fine to use a wall charger - voltage in Japan and North America is the same. However it's still not recommended by the manual, so what you might want to do is get a USB dock and charge from that. That's what I did. Here's an example: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=usb+c+dock&qid=1652823189&sr=8-3
It essentially plugs into one of your USB-C ports and then you can plug the smart into one of those USB-A ports.
Sorry maybe my explanation wasn’t clear enough . I want to use something like this usb c hub
I've been using This Anker 7 in 1
I've seen all sorts of bugs when docking and undocking it with the USB C.
Basically In have the steam deck power USB C delivered to the hub. monitor HDMI, mouse USB, keyboard USB plugged into it.
I had to initially switch to Desktop Mode where I configured my gaming monitor over HDMI to be at 1080p 120hz in the display config os settings. I also set it to be the primary display instead of the steam deck display being primary. Doing this was buggy at first because the steam deck screen needs to be rotated 90deg and set to the correct resolution when it's set as the extended secondary screen. But once I got it set up right. External Monitor as Primary and Steam Deck as Secondary Extended screen. I switched it back to Gaming Mode fine after this and the Primary Monitor settings remained at 1080p 120hz and is very responsive. If the steam deck is docked in gaming mode it's screen goes black.
Another bug I've noticed is that if I unplug the dock while in gaming mode. The Steam Deck screen stays black. I have to tap the power button and put it to sleep and then wake it up afterwards to get the screen to finally back turn on.
So yeah docks work, but the support is finicky. I hope me writing about my experience helps you. It might be best to turn everything off then plug the dock in.. and freshly turn the steam deck on. Then switch to Desktop mode. Use the display configuration settings to change the primary screen to the external and make sure it's set to proper resolution and refresh rate. After this switch back to game mode.
I like to recommend hubs from Anker like this one.
If you’re looking for hub suggestions, I’ve been using this Anker one along with the Deck’s charger and it’s been working great: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_40DSH4037NFCDNHN5630
Why are you looking to use the MacBook specific hub if it is going to be mounted under the desk?
You should be able to plug a hub like this https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=sr_1_3?crid=38CWZ2U1IRQEJ&keywords=anker+usb-c+hub&qid=1650485476&sprefix=anker+usb-c+hub%2Caps%2C61&sr=8-3
Into the monitor, and then connect your laptop to the hub.
This is also one I've seen recommended:

Anker USB C Hub, 341 USB-C Hub... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Although I wouldn’t feel comfortable recommending it yet as it’s still only my first few hours using the device.
For 35 bucks you can get a USB c dock with more utility though so why this? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_J598YREKYM40AYED3P2H
Yeah sorry, this Anker USB-C hub. Haven't had any issues after the latest beta update yesterday.
I use this one from Anker plus this power brick and this cable with zero issues as of the update yesterday. Don't skimp out and pick up a no-name brand dock.
Yeah I bought this one and it seems to work without issue...
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2\_dt\_b\_product\_details
Anker USB C Hub I have this one and my deck lost its ability to charge immediately
I've been using this one and haven't had any issues. I would try and save a few bucks with these no name brands for this.
using this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53 just saw a post talking about it too, i'm hoping it will work out fine, used a few times already without issue. i think i just kept fat fingering the trackpad and had a hard time click on anything with the trackpad press, ive been mainly using the mouse to copy pasta games to the deck
oh man, which one did you use? im using this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53 right now. how soon did you have the issue since using it?
> artist 12 (2nd gen) by xp pen
OK, so I assume you were having good luck with using a USBC to USBC cable before? The XP-PEN artist 12 has two USBC ports, one for multi cable (proprietary) and one for a single USBC connector with Power, Video and USB in one cable.
Do you still have the Multi cable? 2 x USBA, 1 x HDMI to single USBC ? If you don't, get one HERE
If you still have this, then get the Anker 7 in 1. This is essentially the same as the adapter that XP-PEN sells, but much better. HERE -Just for reference. Then just hook up the HDMI and both USB cables. USBC Provides 15W of power, so I assume hooking both USBA cables up to the Anker 7 in 1 is OK because you only need 10 Watts total (Each port serving 900mA or 4.5W,) Worst case scenario hook up the RED USBA cable to the included power adapter or any cell phone charger that is at least 5V 1A. Try to avoid Quick Chargers as they might fry something (rare but possible) any USBA apple chrarger is a safe bet.
Now... if you want just the SINGLE cable to work on the second port. Then just buy the rather expensive Caldigit Element Hub
The answer is yes.
Two options depending on what your device needs. Is the device a drawing tablet that JUST needs USB, or does it also take a video out?
If just USB, then all you need is a USBC hub with passthrough charging. Cheap easy. One of the BEST USBC Hubs (With Power Delivery UPSTREAM i.e. you plug your USBC Power adapter INTO it and it sends power UP the USBC Cable into your computer but also at the same time gives you down stream facing ports, USBA and USBC along with other ports. Anker 7 in 1. $35ish This is likely what you need. Remember though, the extra USBC Port on the dock will NOT supply video, only USBC, the other one is for your USBC Power adapter.
There is also a more fancy way USBGEAR make two devices that allow USBC Power Delivery to either go upstream or downstream. You would want one that goes UPSTREAM (to the laptop) like THIS one. But this is expensive and fancy, but needed for some situations.
If it DOES need a video passthrough, that complicates things but it isn't terrible. Any USB4/Thunderbolt 4 hub will work (Or dock for that matter). The Caldigit Element Hub USB4/Thunderbolt 4 hub will both power your laptop and pass video down to the USBC / Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 ports. It requires AC power however. Portable options are possible but that's a whole nother ball game. Yes is WILL work even if you DON'T have Thunderbolt. You may have to fish for the correct USBC port that the video routed to.
Can you tell us what the device is? Exact Model if possible.
Ridiculous solution that SHOULD work:

Also having problems, I can't get HDMI to work with this Anker. I've tried multiple cables, power adapters, and monitor/tv.
7-in-1 USB-C Hub
8-in-1 USB-C Hub
sorry for reply. I think any of these would work - you can always send it back if it doesn't work for some reasons.
and 10iii
and of course, you can use mouse and keyboard with it aswell.

I just put the usb-c from the monitor in the usb-c input of the anker hub. the hub is directly connected to the macbook. hdmi does work. It's just that it's supposed to work with usb-c too. https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

you can use a charger that supplies more power that the Switch needs. The Switch is semi-compliant to the PD protocol, so it will only draw as much power as it needs. I have been using a 65W PD charger for my Switch and it's working pretty well even in TV mode
if you want a hub that works for both the Switch and Surface Book, i would suggest something along the line of this, and a charger capable of roughly 130W if you want to charge both and perhaps also your phone at the same time
Welcome to the club! Congratulations!
A few things I’d recommend:
Ditch iCue. You’ll thank me later. It’s horrible for battery life. Now if you’re into the per key rgb settings, keep it.
Also, if you’re wanting to connect to an external monitor, definitely shop around for a usb-c to DisplayPort 1.4 cable. I finally had luck by using Lenovo’s branded usb-c to DisplayPort adapter. Ever since, no flickering at all.
Snag a usb-c 3.0 usb hub from Anker. I use this all the time and it’s been solid for travel.
Logitech G305 has been my mouse of choice when on the go.
Disable hybrid mode to avoid having to setup Nvidia control panel for each and every app you need to. More FPS, not as great battery life.
Need an extra 300w power adapter? Find one on Lenovo’s Encompass website.

Agree to the above USB A to C adapter. I might also suggest a dock or hub of some kind if your battery life is poor since it will give you multiple ports so you can power and utilize the USB simultaneously. I use this one from Anker.

This one is pretty good. I use it with my iPad Pro.
Any USB-C hub should work. I have this Anker hub and it's really good for my laptop, so it should be good for the Deck. :)
The cable is a unknown brand, Honglin LM HDMI cable, it says High Speed HDMI Cable on it.
The hub: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The USB-C port on the digital video adapter is power only, no data.
You need an actual hub dongle, something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/
You could get a usb c dock like this one and all you would need is one cable running to your computer.
If it's a USB-C tablet, one of these should do the trick. https://smile.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53
This one from Anker. I switch between DeX on S9 and MacBook Pro, works well and chargers both.

No you don't need Thunderbolt bandwidth for just 1080p 60Hz. A USB-C hub/dock will suffice, such as:
1) Anker Powerexpand+ 7-in-1($35 on Amazon). Has a 4K@30Hz HDMI port plus 2 USB-A 3.0, 1 Ethernet, microSD/SD slots if you happen to need them
2) Plugable 7-in-1 USB-C dock($39 on Amazon). Just like the Anker one above.
3) CableMatters USB-C dock($43 on Amazon). Has a 4K@30Hz HDMI, 2 USB-A 3.0, 1 Ethernet, 1 USB-C 3.0.
I am actually considering buying two of these (Anker 7-in-1), so I can use two external extended monitors
Or this one, which can use two external extended monitors in one product, but there are a few comments about some issues
Both products are cheap/ok priced 30$/40$
An eGPU is an external graphics processing unit like the Razer Core X and Core X Chroma. You install a desktop graphics card into it and connect it to your Razer Blade and it allows almost full processing power (it's limited to Thurderbolt speeds).
As for a USB C adapter, I use an adapter similar to this one:

They don't sell the one I have anymore sadly.
Hmm, not sure. Are you using something like this to connect those devices to?

USB isn't going to work like that. You can't create "VESA DisplayPort Alternate Mode over USB-C" it has to be native to the system. Plus the switch you reference is USB2 - which shouldn't pass video at all. UEFI or BIOS access won't work on non-native systems.
I think you're looking for a HDMI based KVM. Then a few pocket hubs & DP to HDMI adapters. The pocket hubs like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53 will allow you to use the same setup for desktops & laptops.
Only catch is VGA support - you'll need a vga-to-hdmi for those rare occurrences.
Maybe having three would be ideal? Like this Anker https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_090N1XVS01FYEEQKHSEV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ is actually "Get way more out of your laptop’s USB-C port, with 4K@30Hz HDMI", its DP->HDMI2.0 converter doesn't support HBR3 and since its hard-wired to run as 2 DP lanes - bandwidth is limited by 2x HBR2 = ~8.64Gbit/s "data rate", which is not enough for proper 4K 60Hz. Updated https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerExpand-Adapter-Delivery-Ethernet/dp/B087QZVQJX does support HBR3 and on laptops with USB-C DP1.4 will work as 4K 60Hz (but no DSC). The cheapest DP1.4+DSC with USB3 is probably still https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-201331-BLK-Computer-Docking/dp/B086DXLF37. But yeah, all these 2-lane DP docks won't help OP on a DP1.2 system to get 4K 60Hz.

that store page is not really all that helpful in determining compatibility. I would recommend a different seller and a different hub.
under the assumption that this is your laptop https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/predator-series/predatorhelios300
I would recommend this Hub from anker https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref_=ast_sto_dp
I would recommend this Hub from Anker as it's a reputable brand and will more than likely arrive earlier. along with having more features
Anker is generally a reputable brand but I avoided their USB-C hub adapter after seeing many [Amazon reviews](https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/) complaining of destroyed ports. The issue with these adapters seems not to be with the adapter ports but with the "Power Delivery" (often labeled as "PD") ports that allow you to feed a charge through the adapter to your MacBook.
So.....I did get it working for me you just have to buy an attachment. And have your mike through the USB connection. I used this hub and this power supply shopping with my wifi headset plugged right into the hub.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_TKBQH7F8DNJTZ0WDM6MG
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PP1W7S8/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_V4R3B8TJ8VR3ASKP1PNW
Your laptop have 2 thunderbolt/USB-C ports. You first need to get a hub or dock that would allow you to add an additional output, HDMI or DP.
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=usb-c+hub&qid=1630728585&sr=8-3
You can then plug those outputs to the KVM switch.
Thanks for the fast response mate. Since the monitor I used is an office monitor (not a brand-new one) I don't think there is a type-c video input. I'll check either way but if there is not, it seems using such a multiport in the link is the only way.
If I must use a hub, does it make difference to use HDMI or DisplayPort?
Yeah, I’m torn between this one (which is the one I think you mentioned) and this one.
The first one is cheaper and only uses one port (so you could charge the macbook using the other port) but more people complained about bricking and only does 4K@30.
The second one had fewer negative reviews and does 5K@60 (through Thunderbolt 3) but takes up both ports so you can’t avoid charging through the hub, which is what bricked the laptops, I think.
Let me know if you decide on any!

I use this one and it’s faultless , works perfectly with my m1 air - Anker [Upgraded] USB C Hub... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Thank you. For dual Lenovo L27i-30 displays, a USB-C DisplayPort-capable dock supporting Power Delivery and one of the following outputs seems like the best value:
Thunderbolt not necessary.
E.g.:
AUS$115.00 - Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Hub Adapter, with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery (note: charger and cables not included - would need one PD-to-HDMI cable and one HDMI-to-HDMI cable)

What online stores in Australia do you prefer?
Sorry can't find anything cheaper at the moment.
I'm using this Anker Hub:
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
In the reviews multiple people say you have to calculate a bit of wattage being "consumed" by the hub. One says 100W original Apple adapter leads to 85W through the hub
That's a ridiculously expensive choice for something this simple?
May I recommend https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53 instead?
Powered USB C hub with charging pass through. Until we know for sure how to get at the 2230 NVME slot, gotta plan for extra fast and reliable storage somehow. Also, just thinking out loud a little as well.
This is the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53
Seems to work fine.
this one looks rather universal https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53
Thank you! The stand is called Kradl by Uppercase https://gouppercase.com/products/kradl

Ooops! I almost forgot:
I'm using this USB hub with the dock:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You failed to identify your laptop model. XPS 13 is a series, not a specific model. There are at least 15 XPS 13 laptops over the last 9 years.
What features does the working port support?
What features does the broken port support?
Features include: power input, Displayport alternate mode (video out), thunderbolt, OTG, etc.
So for example, you may have one port that supports power input and Video out, and another that only connects ordinary USB peripherals. If you tried to connect power to one and video to the other, it wouldn't work.
Your broken port may not even be broken, you may just be trying to do video output
If a hub had multiple usb-C ports on it, all but one might be rather pedestrian, if not all of them. It is not like the special features on usb-C ports magically transfer to all the other ports on a hub. Some have one usb-C port that passes through special features.
Here is one with two usb-c ports, HDMI, plus a couple usb-A 3.0 ports. One usb-C port appears to be just power in and the other appears to be just for ordinary usb peripherals, like usb-c flash drives. It doesn't do 60Hz 4K.
https://smile.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53
This one does 4K 60Hz HDMI but only has one usb-c port which is meant to connect to your power adapter. It has HDMI, ethernet, card reader, and 2x USB 3.0 type A. $38.
https://smile.amazon.com/CableCreation-Multiport-Adapter-Gigabit-Ethernet/dp/B08FWMWGTD
I don’t know any good thunderbolt ones but one of these might work?
I have used this one and it’s great:
This one is made for specifically for iPad:
single 1080p 60Hz + USB3 will work with pretty much anything, older Anker https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53 (power pass-through, no 10Gbps, no 4K 60Hz on DP1.3+ machines)
I recommend this USB C dongle it is the same one I have. Anker USB C Hub
Thanks for the responses to this. After searching and researching and reading reviews etc, I decided on the Anker PowerExpand+ 7 in 1 USB C hub from Amazon. It serves most of my needs with the exception of an ethernet port which was more of a nice to have than a necessity. The most important for me was a USB C input as well as a USB C data port. If anybody else wants to see the specs, it's this one. https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
this is close...
I cut vinyl as a side to my IT business...
Try plugging a USB hub to your surface and plug the plotter into the hub. this will force the USB speeds, sometimes they dont slow down enough.
Didn't get a dock, but got a usb-c hub along with a 100W power supply:
I have an SP7 and use this hub & cable with an LG 4K monitor -

HDMI cable:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011M32RLI
Monitor:
I have the iPad Air 4 and I’m considering this Anker USB-C hub. Anker USB-C hub
Any issues with this or am I good to go?
Or this, which looks like it's about the same cost with more ports.

Here’s what I use:
Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I have this hub attached to this extension cord and that's what I use regularly with mine. I don't use the additional power input, just the regular cord. Also, have this extension cord that I use to extend a USB A to C cord for my Focusrite audio interface. I just hooked it up directly to the computer's USB-C port and it worked fine.
There are a lot of USB-C things still out there that are not up to spec, a lot of junk cords and hubs. Technically, there is no USB-C hub yet, so if it's some kind of custom hub with multiple USB-C ports, it's hard to say if it's going to work. If it's a hub with just one USB-C port and then some other USB-A, HDMI, etc. ports, like the one I mentioned above, make sure to try it with no other things attached to make sure it's getting enough power.
Also, if you're using a USB-A to USB-C extension cord, make sure it's attached to a USB 3.0 port, not a 2.0 port on the computer.
I'm having issues too. I followed the advice of someone on here a couple months ago. They told me they bought this USB Hub for their CCWGTV and it worked fine with the default power cable that came with the chromecast.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Well it didn't work, and I got the insufficient power display screen. So I thought I might need a stronger power adapter. So I bought this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This came this week in the mail and to my dismay, it does not fix the issue either. Currently stuck. :(
Just thought I'd share my experiences.
anker- they have more than 1 option but the small one with USB, card reader and Ethernet is my fav. portable one.
One other thing: I was considering this hub, but I wanted to know whether it stored power or only passed charge through it when plugged in. Link

Sure thing!
you did a good job of making use of a very small space, investing in a hub similar to the one on screen is a great idea because it makes the one cable setup possible, I bought this one and it has a much better build quality than some of the others on amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Usb dongle with pass through chargingtook me like three sec
This one for $24 works - you just need an appropriate power supply,
it can run numerous other Distributions as well. and I think there was an android and chromeos-type port also.
I don't have a special dock for the PBP. but the usb c multiple port dock for my chromebook tablet works with it.
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53
at least I think it worked with the PBP. I have not used my PBP much in the last few months.
I also have a usb c to hdmi plug that recall worked.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JW7GT7H
I do recall once having some video artifacts with the dock/adaptor, but that was when I first got the thing in Jan.
I sue this, works great and has a USB-C data port -

This is the one I got. Have only had the MBP M1 for about a week, but the reviews are good and it’s 20% off right now.
Yes it should. but I am not familiar with that hub from lazada. however, as long as the hub from lazada has USB 3.0, it should be fine to plug the dongle into it.
I use this personaly

the anker hub has usb 3.0, and it worked perfectly fine.

also that displaylink hub that you chose from my list is a really good one. better than the other one with 2 hdmi honeslty. I tested both, and that one is great (the one you linked)
Thanks!!. I just bought your recommended anker to try. . I had tried this anker one previously but the 2nd monitor didn't display

I'm just jumping onto your comment. I got it working as well using some slightly different devices (giving people options).
Hub: Anker PowerExpand+ (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53)
USB C Cable: Anker USB C 100W (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086DMNK8R)
Power Supply: RAVPower USB C Charger, 61W PD Charger (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TC53ZYD)
Webcam: I've had success with two, the Aukey /u/BigBoyLaroux recommended (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072MMH33F) as well as my Logitech Brio (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N5UOYC4). One thing to note is my sister mentioned I sounded like I was in a tunnel with the Aukey, not sure if it is the microphone array or the acoustics of my living room. Other than that the video looks great, the grainy footage you are greeted with on the calling screen seems to disappear on the call itself.
NOTE: Like /u/BigBoyLaroux mentions, you need to restart the chromecast before the audio feed will work. I mention this because I excitedly ignored that on my first attempt to get it to work.
Pretty nice having the ability to place calls from my living room for less than $200 in equipment. I'm sure other people will be able to get it for cheaper. Big thanks for figuring it out first /u/BigBoyLaroux.
Yep.. you're in the correct ballpark.
Basically the point of a Docking Station or etc.. is so you can come home,.. put your Laptop down on the Desk and plug in a single Cable (typically USB-C) .. and the Docking station then connects everything else (Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, etc). So it's really just an "ease of use" or convenience thing (IE = "Sit down and plug in 1 connection and you're "good to go")
How cheap or expensive of a Dock you end up going with.. is really more of a personal preference thing.
The Lenovo Laptop and LG Monitor both have USB-C ports.. so if (at a very minimal/basic level) all you wanted to do was plug 1 USB-C cable directly from the Laptop to the back of the Monitor,. that would get you external Video (but you'd need Wireless Keyboard and Mouse, since with the Laptop lid-closed, you couldn't get to Laptops Keyboard and Mouse)
But the above is a very bare-bones way of doing it.
There's plenty of other USB-C Docking Stations/adapters on the market at a variety of prices
Anker makes a small 7-in-1 for $30 (https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Upgraded-Delivery-Pixelbook-A83460A2/dp/B07ZVKTP53/) . that provides HDMI and 2 x USB-A ports.. so that would do all you need.
Or you can go all the way up to $200 for something like the Cal-Digit TB3 = https://www.caldigit.com/ts3-plus/
It's just a matter of personal preference and how many Ports or Peripherals you end up needing to plug in.
After small research I bought Anker
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_KIWHFb9TJCV3X
A usb c hub cost about $25US to $50US Thunderbolt 3 dock cost about $250US
Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Hub Adapter, with 4K HDMI, 100W Power Delivery, USB-C and 2 USB-A 5Gbps Data Ports, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, XPS, and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_QmVHFbM1722DJ

I bought https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_mjlHFbRM608V7 for it's size and because it was $25. If you really need ethernet they have a slightly pricier version with it as well but to me, if you're going all-out for the best dock I'd go with https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086DS5Q6K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_YklHFb7BRWCR5
I'll likely pick one up once I finish upgrading the living room but given the size I think the Vava unit is better suited to a desk, media or living room setup than a mobile hub. The Anker is definitely better on the go due to its size despite having less capability (dual 4k 60Hz HDMI out, ethernet etc...) which is why I went that route for now...because when am I really going to need dual 4k out on the go?

No, there's no point in doing that, what I described with two adapters gives you 5gbps USB data without a problem , try https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53 this one for a second one. Get a 100W charger for maximum performance.
Yes there's tons of them.
But without more details about your host device's capabilities I can't say for sure what will work
Yeah. Here's another version of that hub, cheaper, no Ethernet -
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53
and a larger, pricier unit -
Firstly, is it possible for you to try connecting the Mac to a different Wi-Fi network?
Secondly, you can use a USB-C hub that supports power delivery to connect other peripherals to a MacBook while charging it. The following are examples of such products:
If you choose to buy a different product, then ensure that it supports power delivery!
I highly recommend this Anker Hub as it’s the one I’ve been using for a while now.
Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Hub Adapter, with 4K HDMI, Power Delivery, USB C Data Port, microSD and SD Card Reader, 2 USB 3.0 Ports, for MacBook Pro, Pixelbook, XPS, and More https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KB3rFbAPZV6AW
Yaay - The following setup gets me a 1080p external screen for the Duet:
Anker 7 in 1 USB-C hub:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07ZVKTP53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Asus ZenScreen 15.6 portable monitor (USB-C/DP):
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B071R31L1G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The hub has both a USB-C power port and an additional USB-C port to plug the Asus monitor USB-C cable in to.
Using the HDMI port on the hub _doesn't_ give 1080p on the other desktop monitors I have - I guess they don't do 30Hz, and neither does plugging the Asus portable monitor directly into the Duet.
I haven't found any other permutations of gadgetry that will give 1080p.
Oh I gotcha. In that case, I would recommend this Anker Hub. I use the hub to plug in my usb amp and still have an available USB port to plug in flash drives as well. It also has a 100W (which outputs 85W) charging input. The DisplayPort cable and hub only take up two usb spots, and keeps my desk looking clean.
I’ve used this hub with my wired mechanical keyboard and it works perfectly. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/

I have this same setup along with a 90w USB-C power brick that I plug into the monitor. It powers the monitor and charges the surface. If only I could find a USB-C hub with usb ports, hdmi etc that would send video and power the monitor as well I would have the ultimate setup. I purchased the hub below but when plugging the monitor into the USB-C port it gets power but no video.

the switch wasn’t that bad! while it depends what you are going to use it for, it’s very manageable no matter what the tasks are. a good mechanical keyboard with a mac layout like the rk71 made it bearable. also this usb-c hub is excellent.
Unlike aux, you can't just split a USB-C cable into two, but you can use a USB-C hub like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/
Apple's USB-C to 3.5mm adapter works pretty well as a dongle.
