For decades, I was a Kraft purist, then I discovered you can buy cheddar powder in bulk and make your own mac and cheese. It's so, so much better, plus you can add as much cheese as you want instead of being limited by that tiny little packet that comes in the blue box. My favorite brand is Anthony's Premium Cheddar Cheese Powder. It's about $10 for a whole pound on Amazon.
That stuff is actually pretty tasty if you know what to do with it.
I buy this stuff:
https://www.amazon.com/Anthonys-Premium-Cheddar-Verified-Artificial/dp/B076TPLFFD/
And I mix in about 4:1 of that with the powdered parm. I add butter and cream/milk and I make a roux/base with that (no flour).
Then, you get a wonderful sauce for mac and cheese. When you use regular cheese, it will separate and curdle, leaving you oil and little bits of curd. But if you full incorporate the dessicated cheese, it becomes wonderful. Same thing with that powdered peanut butter. Same idea. Just removing the fat and leaving the flavour.
So then, you finish your mac and cheese or whatever with the real stuff, usually on top when you bake it. Way better like that.
That’s so wasteful lol. You can literally buy a pound of much better quality cheese powder on amazon for $10. She really didn’t think this through.
Edit: oh, didn’t realize it was you. Maybe try it again with this?

Not sure about annie’s in particular, but this cheese powder on Amazon lists 2 tbsp of powder at 70 cals
This one is gluten free!
I used to love cheesy microwave popcorn. What I do now is add cheese powder to any popcorn that I make. I use this one, usually a tablespoon or two is more than enough for a bag. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076TPLFFD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I would say it tastes exactly like Kraft. Not close, not similar, but with the caveat that you have to add more than you think. Thanks! That’s another one that was a magic moment. I tried to replicate it but couldn’t get the exact same as the first time. It’s been a while… but one thing I highly recommend for anyone doing keto is some cheese powder. I use this one from Amazon

The applications of that powder are LIMITLESS I TELL YA! I think I also added some other kinds of cheese in there as well.
Aside from that, I had some generic Cajun seasoning for the shrimp. Probably added some bell peppers and onions and that’s about it. I guess the cauliflower “grits” were more like cauli Mac cheese.
you say orange, which i find odd. there's a few ways to make a regular cheese sauce using any sharp cheddars. those are more just yellow though, not really "orange". the only thing closer to that color that comes to mind is more of a "kraft macaroni and cheese" colored thing. that's the most orange cheese product i know.
for that, you can just buy 1lb bags of the powder from amazon. then you just mix it with a little milk, and then you have a whole cup or whatever of the sauce. i've bought a few from amazon. the ones that ended up tasting like the kraft macaroni and cheese powder, had buttermilk powder in the ingrdient list.
i think this anthony's one is a good one to try
Most hamburger helper is cheese sauce, at least the ones I personally like.

This is essentially the powder that comes in that and in kraft mac, mix with cream, milk, butter or even water!

Always use butter, not margarine
Add like 2x the amount of milk is calls for
Add some of this.
Boom, best KD of your life
Happily! Anthony’s Cheddar Cheese powder
There was another one, also on Amazon, from Hoosier Hills farm that looked equally good but this was the one I ended up with. Enjoy the cheese-induced coma 😋
I recommend cheese powder. There are several options on Amazon, the one below is the most kraft like. I use it on the keto diet to mix with cream cheese and jalapeño powder to make dip. It’s also great on popcorn or use in casseroles or cheese soups...i am pretty sure it’s made with a freeze dryer so it last forever.

Just throwing this out there, but there are shakers of ranch seasoning, and shakers of mac and cheese seasoning. You can add both of these flavors to damn near anything now.
Edit: I know y'all already have boners, but there's a premium cheddar cheese powder you really need to know about.
Edit 2: it's a fucking pound of the premo shit for less than twelve bucks. I'm totally adding that to my cart and then deciding later if I actually want it or if it was just some shit I discovered while browsing Reddit and drinking bourbon.

You had me really puzzled there for a while. Why in the world would I want to buy an ingredient that is "verified artificial"?! I didn't even think there was any such thing. Even vegans are usually not that extreme, or are they?
Then I clicked the link and discovered that Amazon's algorithm just picked a very unfortunate abbreviation of the full title: "Anthony's Premium Cheddar Cheese Powder, … Tested and Verified Gluten Free, No Artificial Colors …"
More Kraft than velveeta but this saved my life for a hot minute lol
Ever since I found out about cheese powder my life has changed for the cheesier. No longer do I worry about separation or texture issues when I'm adding cheese powder to literally everything and it incorporates beautifully. I have the white cheddar version ofthis because I don't want all my food to be orange and it's great. I haven't tried other brands, there are less expensive ones available though.
Grab some Anthony's Cheddar Cheese Powder. You'll never go back.
Have you tried Anthony's cheddar? We tried the hoosier hill and others and my teens (and I) like it best
That’s like hitting the jackpot!
Oh but I feel sorry for whomever purchased the next box on the assembly line and didn’t get any cheese packets.
P.S. you can buy jars of this stuff on Amazon. Various different brands, all good. It’s called powdered cheese. Discovering it existed has been a high point in my life. Pro tip, when making boxed Mac and cheese, leave out the butter and drain ALL the water from the cooked pasta. Add FAGE brand Greek yogurt and extra cheese powder. It will make your Mac and cheese creamier and healthier (more protein).

This isn't as low cal but I'm on my second bag of this stuff: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076TPLFFD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_NJ9Y8JR35P8DQH6D5TV5
Its DELICIOUS.
I use Anthony's, it's great in everything.
You can get get cheese powder in bulk.
