AOC 27" 4K 60Hz IPS Display Monitor
I'm currently using this right now and it works very well. It's priced around $375, but the stock is pretty low. Not sold out yet, but might be in a little while.
There's the AOC U2790VQ that I can vouch for. It usually hovers around $250-$280 on amazon and is honestly the best 4k monitor for the price. It doesn't have HDR, but it makes up for it with a good brightness and is factory-calibrated . I use it as a daily monitor for browsing and sometimes photo editing - it's fantastic.
USB-C connection is nice however, if you are good with DisplayPort 1. 2 / HDMI 2. 0 connections, the AOC U2790VQ is $209 right now on Amazon.
Works well @ 4k (>150 ppi) with my Studio, 2020 10th gen i5 MBP 13" and (work) Dell Latitude as well.
I use an AOC U2790VQ 27" 4K 3840x2160 UHD Frameless Monitor, IPS, 5ms, 1 Billion+ Colors, 108% sRGB, VESA display with my LG Ultra Fine 21.5" display. Both are 200+ ppi and colors have similar high quality accuracy in Adobe Lightroom which I use frequently.
The AOC is currently $239 on Amazon.
I'm not all that impressed with the Dell displays (for use with Mac's anyway). Color accuracy and display quality are mediocre imo
Work bought me two of the Ultrasharp U2722D's. They are not as nice as my AOC 27" at home. Works well with Mini M1, 13" MBP and my work Dell Latitude computers. Price on this one goes as low as $240 or so USD occasionally.

4K isn't expensive anymore, and hasn't been for a long time. Sure there's better monitors out there but that's just an example.
Mmmh that's a bummer. I'm still biding my time with a 10th gen i5 MBP 13" and sticking with Catalina on it.
You definitely need to be very choosy with acquiring external displays (many are total crap for anything other than Windows use).
I have both a cheap ($250 USD) 27" AOC and pricey LG Ultrafine 21.5" USB-C displays. Both of them look stellar with HP 11th gen x360 Chromebook, Mac Mini 16GB M1, 13" 10th gen MBP, and two Dell Latitude laptops.
I have the older 21.5" Ultrafine (USB-C only) model which is stellar on Mac Mini M1 and MBP i5 10th gen 13".
Also have a 27" AOC 2790VQ (HDMI and Display Port) that is also quite good... at a much more cost effective price (currently $269 at Amazon).
I've got one of these 27" AOC displays... very good quality for Mac's and priced @$258.00 is hard to beat.
It works flawlessly with my Mini M1, 2020 MBP 13" 10th gen and (work) Dell Latitude 4650.
This one AOC U2790VQ
I think it's amazing. Works as well as I could have expected, and I'm okay with being capped at 60fps since I also plan to use it at 1080p + RT + 60fps if/when that is ever available (if I can get used to 1080p again lol). I also plan to use a dual monitor setup later so this is going to be the 'cheaper' monitor while I wait to get another one with HDMI 2.1 and maybe 144hz when Sony enables VRR on the PS5.
I also DEFINITELY wouldn't get a 27-32" 1080p monitor. Unless you like pixel art lul
As long as the monitor you pick advertises a resolution of 3840 x 2160 (4K), the size of the display does not matter. Unless of course, you have a desired size in mind.
Something like this will do just fine.
If you're looking for more fancy features, you can also find 4K monitors capable of 75-240 Hz refresh rates, 1 ms response times, etc. Though, I don't believe MacBooks support refresh rates above 60 Hz.
Yep! Ended up going with this:
AOC U2790VQ 27" 4K 3840x2160 UHD Frameless Monitor, IPS, 5ms, 1 Billion+ Colors, 108% sRGB, VESA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LBM2DCC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_cHfIFbRYAPEAV
Definitely a few compromises, especially with the higher side of gamut coverage and factory calibration, but it seems like good bang for the buck and one of the best options in the price range.
I have a 2k 144Hz monitor that I'm happy with for gaming, and my 2nd monitor that I also use for my PS4 is just a standard 1080p monitor. Would an AOC U2790VQ be a good upgrade for my 2nd monitor to use with my PS4 and as a 2nd screen? I mostly just watch Twitch, so 4k video isn't that useful, but I'd mostly want it for a higher resolution 2nd monitor and to use with my PS4 pro (potentially PS5 in the future).
https://www.amazon.com/AOC-U2790VQ-3840x2160-Frameless-DisplayPort/dp/B07LBM2DCC
my job got me that one when i needed an extra screen. pretty decent so far, havent gamed on it tho. gonna need to use DP for 60hz even tho manual says 60hz works on hdmi 1 port. havent been able to get it to go past 30.
If you ONLY LOOKING FOR 4K theres this aoc monitor. But the color and response time wont be the best. Your paying for a budget monitor so your gonna get budget performance

That is a great monitor for gaming! But if you don't plan on gaming much I would not buy it.
It's a TN panel only has 8-bit color.
This is a much better option for your use at a similar pricepoint
I was going back and forth a few months ago about getting a widescreen or a 4K monitor. I used to have triple 32" 1080p monitors a few years back, but had to down size to one 32" monitor after moving. I spoiled myself for years having three monitors for photo/video editing, designing and gaming. Downsizing to one sucked, and had me eager to get more screen real-estate, but to maintain one monitor. I had a few widescreen monitors picked out and a few 4K monitors just to experience the 4K PC life.
Here was my decision breaking point. I purchased a massive 4K TV for my living room and just had to hook my PC up to it and play some racing simulators/games on it. That's how you know you got the right TV, right? lol But seeing video games in 4K changed me. Not only video games, but my desktop, editing software, web browsing, etc. just looked so unreal and breath taking.
From there, I searched all over for an affordable decent sized 4K monitor, without breaking the bank. My first ever monitors were AOC and I never had any problems with them, even after the years of abuse. I found an 27" AOC 4K monitor that was rather cheap, decent sized AND 4K! Even better? With downsizing to a 27", I am able to have two monitors again, giving me that oh so juicy screen real-estate. And even better plus? These monitors have a very, very thin bezel making dual monitors beautifully seamless. Everything on this monitor is beautiful, crisp, bright, non-glare and perfect for my uses.
This is just my experience with going back and forth with widescreen vs 4K, and I do not mean to step on anyone's toes. Maybe down the road when I have more of a budget to spend on my setup I'll get a 4K ultrawide monitor!
Nice... I have a 27" AOC that has been awesome with Mini M1, MBP i5 10th gen and two Winblows (Dell 4600 work) laptops.
Hows this compare to the AOC U2790VQ

Sorry, I can't even find the AOC you mention on Amazon at all. I see the U2790VQ, for $270, but not the U2790AQ. Link, please?
I tend to agree. I have one of the old LG Ultrasharp 21.5" USB-C only ones and it is stellar (even though not so big). I use a cheapy 27" AOC 4k as a second display and it also is quite decent for MBP 13" i5 10th gen, M1 mini and a couple of work Dell Latitude laptops too.
Some have been very positive about the quality of this Gigabyte 34" Ultrawide.
AOC U2790VQ gets top marks in reviews and having bought 4 of them at $250 each I can say they rule. Simple but the image quality is outstanding. AOC U2790VQ 27" 4K 3840x2160 UHD... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LBM2DCC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Assuming you're in the US, something like below would fit the bill perfect. I know 4K isn't a preference, but trust me - it's worth it.

I hope I helped you with this. This would be an amazing pc for your adobe programs. Yes, 2 listings are on Ebay with a great value. You can't get the gpu new with the same performance.
The dell is a solid option although you could get a spec equivalent monitor for around $70 less.
If you absolutely need 4K, look at my recent posts. You can use integer scaling with your games if you need to.
Newegg has some refurbs and so does eBay. If 225 is your budget, it may not be the best 4K monitor, but you might be able to find something that gets what you need.
Otherwise you would be better off buying a 1080p monitor with that card.
Here is one that’s close to your budget on Amazon: AOC U2790VQ 27" 4K 3840x2160 UHD Frameless Monitor, IPS, 5ms, 1 Billion+ Colors, 108% sRGB, VESA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LBM2DCC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_BG73MMKV4Y98EQGS0TMJ
Here another 28”: Asus VP28UQG 28" Monitor 4K/UHD 3840x2160 1ms DP HDMI Adaptive Sync/FreeSync Eye Care Monitor , Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074PK4R2H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_JNHNWS56PQ5WPGNX9HMF
If you go with 1080p, it will either have to be a 27 or 24 inch. If you are sitting further away, a 27 inch might be good, but up close a 24 inch might be sharper. If watching content and productivity mean more to you, then the 4K is the better option.
1080p with integer scaling and sharpening at 4K can look good or you can use a lower resolution with sharpening too. Just know that the image might be blurrier in that second scenario.
A good 27 inch might be:
AOC 27G2 27" Frameless Gaming IPS Monitor, FHD 1080P, 1ms 144Hz, NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible + Adaptive-Sync, Height Adjustable, 3-Year Zero Dead Pixel Guarantee, Black/Red https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WSK5W7V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_QXGC8K36R94S3GZVPV59
A good 24 could be:
Acer Nitro VG240Y Pbiip 23.8 Inches Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS Gaming Monitor with AMD Radeon FreeSync Technology, Zero Frame, 144Hz, 1ms VRB, (2 x HDMI 2.0 Ports & 1 x Display Port), Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VFPYRP3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_8NPX09V6GP88TSJ4C8XW
At the end of the day, it is entirely up to you and your preference. If homework and movies are more of a priority, do 4K. If gaming is your priority, you may want to do 1080p. Also think if you will upgrade you card in the future, and at the point you upgrade if you will be able to run at higher setting sown the road.
Hope this helps!

Close! Chair was actually $430, but work bought it for me when Covid hit.
The main monitor is a 27" 4k display, but not 120hz. (I don't play many games, this is mostly for productivity)

Chair: https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/659892/HON-Ignition-Mesh-Back-Task-Chair/
What about this one (except from the lack of mic)?
This monitor and it's price is awesome. It's $269 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/AOC-U2790VQ-3840x2160-Frameless-DisplayPort/dp/B07LBM2DCC but to ship in Turkey it costs +150 and $419 in total. Which is still good and really considerable. Also it's a whole office but with 2 8 year old iMacs, a i7 4th gen PC with a 2005 Mac display, a MacBook and an Asus Ultrabook. It makes sense to buy a colorimeter for a office but our office has only 2 design computers right now but only 1 designer. Also will I be able to run 10-bit color with RX 580.

Asus VP28UQG 28" 4K Monitor $259.99
AOC U2790VQ 27" 4K Monitor $269.99
There is a 1" difference but they're pretty much the same in terms of viewing area because the AOC has much smaller bezels. The Asus has the better response time though with the 1ms vs the 5ms of the AOC but it's not insanely noticeable when playing games since they're both just 60 Hz monitors.
If you play mostly competitive games then shoot for one of these...
AOC CQ27G1 27" 1440p 144 Hz Monitor $243.64
i assume with the keyboard and mouse configuration your not gonna game too much tho, a 3900x is a good bang for the buck with production tasks, with a monitor thisne is good for the price. https://www.amazon.com/AOC-U2790VQ-3840x2160-Frameless-DisplayPort/dp/B07LBM2DCC/ . if you game and like some good refresh rate with color accuracy but dont need 4k. this one is decent https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WVN6CWT/ although usually its below $200

Yah, that's what I've been doing, I was just trying to explore another method of gathering information before making a decision. Also kind of hoping someone would suggest a monitor I have not considered yet.
I'm struggling with deciding on making the switch to 1 ultrawide or stick with 2 monitors. I like the idea of using one monitor that rotates into portrait mode for coding, but I also like the idea of using only 1 ultrawide and doing split screen. I know 1st world problems lol.
27" seems to be the sweet spot for me if I don't go the ultrawide route. And I am heavily considering:
