So my initial thought was this one. But I did that thing where I thought so hard about it I thought I actually purchased it lol. So if anyone has any better suggestions I'm all ears!
Perhaps a protein treatment will work? Your hair might need some after it was dyed. A good protein treatment is Aphogee two step protein treatment: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009R33U8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_fxjRFbVE319K9. Hope you get your curls back soon!
Hey love ! Don’t panic yet lol. I took my extremely dark long 3b hair completely light ash blonde a few years ago. This product saved my pattern. Aphogee Protein Treatment
Here’s why. When we lift our hair (bleaching or using a developer in any way), the hair cuticle opens up and in the process we can lose some of the protein in our strands that (for curly girls) creates and define our individual curl patterns. This can happen with excessive heat damage or chemical processing like perms etc. This results in pin straight ends, maybe some spots being randomly straighter or more “textureless” compared to how they’ve been before.
This product helps to restore that which is lost. It makes your hair very stiff, you blow dryer it in until is hard af basically and rinse. You’ll notice a difference. If you scrunch and use your usual curl friendly style products.
Also, I know everyone says it but steer clear of box dyes. You never know what volume developer they use and with that you never know how much damage they’ll cause. Annnnd even with all the treatments, though they helped make my hair beautiful for the year I was blonde and I’ll believe it will help you, after that it became extremely hard to keep up with. My hair did end up going through some breakage and getting too stringy at the ends until I did my second big chop lol. So keeping the color long term will definitely be a commitment.
It does sound a lot like mine just a few days ago minus the frizz. My ends were a little puffy but still extremely soft, I had gone way too nuts with moisture and my hair was crying for protein. It's in better shape now though.
I'm afraid I'm only able to really suggest one which is Aphogee's 2 Step Reconstructor which literally brought back about 65-70% of my curl in like 45 minutes last night. I've never had much luck with anything else, even Aphogee's Keratin reconstructor as nothing but the 2 Step seems to actually penetrate my hair enough to do anything. I have that big bottle I linked as my hair is previously bleached and needs it over a long period but I believe you can buy a little sample packet at Sally's that's paired with the Balancing Moisturizer (which I don't use) and I want to say it's rather cheap at like $4-5 if you just want to try it. You don't have to leave it in as long as I did, you can usually tell it's working if the straight pieces start kinking up as they would normally when the stuff dries.
Also, I'd be hesitant to follow up on those pieces with any heavy moisturizers or leave-ins for a little while. At least with my hair, putting any conditioner on the formerly straight chunks instantly weighed the curl back down again and undid all my work until I rinsed out the moisturizers. I have to use a sulfate free shampoo and only gel to style if I want my hair to curl. No co-washing, no moisturizers. In shower I'll just run a bit of really lightweight conditioner with protein in it (Suave's Tropical Coconut for me) over the very ends and lengths and fully rinse it out but use nothing else.
