I do now, I read a lot and researched as much as I could in order to make sure I could make my betta as comfortable as possible, but I overlooked that I guess?? I did condition the water before getting it, using this product specifically: API STRESS COAT Aquarium Water Conditioner 16-Ounce Bottle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000255MZG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_F8HRVNYE4ZR3T7X191JT?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Well, in the video he appears to be pretty active and swimming so I'd personally consider him healthy. As for stress coat, I use th API brand. You can get it from any local pet store or order it off of Amazon. I've linked the Amazon one below. It comes with instructions on how much to put in your tanks and the top is the little measuring cup to do so. I find it one of my most important additives to my fish tank and at my workplace (pet store) and it's helped me with quite q few issues I've had.

no it it's automatic. I was getting a new one because I'm not sure it's very reliable. Any recommendations? Also could this help with fins?: API STRESS COAT Aquarium Water Conditioner 16-Ounce Bottle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000255MZG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_UVQszb1AJ8RDQ
Clean, warm water will be the best thing you can do for your new fish friend. Definitely leave the filter on, your beneficial bacteria will die if the filter isn't running.
You can add a little bit of API stress coat to the water. I would avoid over-medicating and not doing anything extra like aquarum salt or antibiotics unless it gets worse.
In a 2gal tank with only one betta, I would do a 25% water change twice a week.
Never used it personally but it's got an 85% 5-star rating on Amazon. I doubt you can go wrong with it.
Get some duckweed to help with nitrates, I normally have a sponge filter along with my fluval canister 407, aqua clear hang on back. I never clean them out at the same time

Well guys, Pearl didn't make it. I euthanized him/her as there's no way to come back from the state it was in. The other guys so far seem like they have a good chance to pull thru but we'll see in the morning. They are both smaller but substantially less infected. The water is currently treated with Stress+, API Fin & Body Cure, and lastlyArtemiss Microbe-lift.
I recently discovered that we have a bottle of Fish Mox Forte... not even sure where that came from, but evidently its amoxicillin. So that's a thing.
Some more background moving forward: This was all our 5yr old wanted for her birthday, and she's been pretty dedicated & responsible about the upkeep so far. I didn't realize myself what a science project it would become, so maybe its best if we scale back to less creatures inside. She & my wife are visiting inlaws but will be back tomorrow so this was a timely crisis for me to manage. With all that in mind, I'd welcome any lower maintenance fish/aquarium suggestions that would be more aligned with the capabilities of a smart & dedicated 5yr old who really loves fish.

If the water changes are making it worse then I would hold off for a few days (or just small changes, maybe .5gal/day) as long as the parameters stay within a healthy range. the stress of being moved around may be making him worse. It does look like fin rot to me but on the off-chance that it's fin biting stress will definitely make it worse.
However, for both fin rot and fin biting I've had a lot of success using API Stresscoat+ (contains aloe, replaces slime coat, reduces stress as name implies) and API Bettafix (contains tea tree extract) together. These together have worked miracles for me, some bettas that I honestly didn't think would make it have made awesome recoveries with these two. The links to go amazon but I've found both at Petco/Petsmart. I haven't personally been able to find indian almond leaves but those never hurt to add either! Best of luck to you and the little guy <3
Thanks, What chemicals do I need? I currently have some of this stuff: https://www.amazon.com/API-STRESS-Aquarium-Conditioner-16-Ounce/dp/B000255MZG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1504098194&sr=8-2&keywords=stress+coat And some of this stuff: https://www.amazon.com/API-Freshwater-Saltwater-Aquarium-Cleaning/dp/B000255N3W/ref=sr_1_3?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1504098306&sr=1-3&keywords=stress+zyme
I don't have any testing stuff.
