It's a great tent, but if i had the option again i'd pick up this Apollo one instead, just because it has one zipper rather than 5 to open the front.. seems like it would be easier/faster to open
Oh wow awesome thank you! So if I were to purchase the cali grow kit, I would need a mylar box because I don't have the closet space. Do you think that a 4 ft box would be too much? I am assuming these boxes have ventilation built in along with harnesses for the lights?
Edit: Like would something like this be probably what I need http://www.amazon.com/Apollo-Horticulture-Hydroponic-Indoor-Growing/dp/B00H9OJHYA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1432982945&sr=8-2&keywords=grow+tents
Speaking from experience, it will be cheaper to purchase a growing tent from Amazon at the same time you purchase a light rather than building it yourself. Something like
With fluorescent lighting you have a problem of penetration. They are great for seedlings and very small plants like herbs, but for fruiting plants such as tomatoes and peppers, you need something a bit more.
Something like the light you linked runs a total of 216w give or take. I'd look for something like
This will give you the light penetration to get those peppers growing. I've had good luck with Apollo as a company, I'm still using the ballast I ordered two years ago. Only had one of the initial order arrive failed.
Happy growing.
Ok, this is the tent i got also http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H9OJHYA?refRID=9BF0X6A34Y2H15P9SCTE&ref_=pd_bia_nav_t_3 will that light be fine for this tent with one plant Thank you for the help
Check out apollo grow tents on amazon, they are great and affordable and come in many sizes. My cheese are flowering right now in this one: http://www.amazon.com/Apollo-Horticulture-Hydroponic-Indoor-Growing/dp/B00H9OJHYA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1444150592&sr=8-2&keywords=apollo+grow+tent
I also really love my mars hydro reflector series lights, they are cheap and super effective and the heat is low and you don't need to assemble a ballast:

If you're worried about heat I would recommend an LED light, mars hydro has great prices for the quality and ships quickly to the USA. I have the reflector 96x5 in my veg tent and 144x5 in my flower tent:

When I was putting together my first setup I almost bought a set like this, but ended up putting together a custom setup and I'm glad I did. Check out apollo grow tents on amazon, they are great and affordable and come in many sizes. My cheese are flowering right now in this one:
Hi everyone. Currently on day 27V of my first grow, details of my setup here:

Grow diary here: http://tinyplantas.tumblr.com
I have been having some small issues with what seems to be light intensity due to my mars hydro reflector 144x5 being too close to the plants. When I started the seedlings I had the light at about 24", but when I transplanted into 3gal smart pots a couple weeks ago they moved closer to ~20" and started to show signs of what I thought was heat stress, but temps have been between 72-80 consistently. Recently I noticed that the top leaves were canoeing a bit and some of the larger fan leaves are rippling and slightly limp - as in the imgur link in the title.
My question: what is the ideal distance to put these lights from my plants during veg vs flower? Does anyone have experience with this particular light (mars hydro reflector 144x5 new model with the 5w chip), and if so how tall should I let my plants get before flipping in my 2x4x5ft tall tent? I'm concerned that I will need to keep the light at least 18" away from the top colas during flower, which limits my vertical space considerably, especially since the smart pots raise the plants about 8" off the floor.
Thanks as always for any guidance, I love this sub - so many friendly and knowledgeable growers.
edit: I emailed mars hydro about this yesterday and just heard back from them, their advice:
>It's still the same height for the 144x5w, you can hang it at 18-24 inches at veg and 12-18 inches at flowering. No worries, anything in the future, help or info needed, please do feel free to let me know, will do my best to help.
Hey /r/microgrowery, long time marijuana enthusiast and second time grower. I have done quite a bit of research in preparation for this second grow and am almost ready to start my grow, save for a few questions.
I am looking to do a closet grow in 4' x 2' x 5' tent (http://www.amazon.com/Apollo-Horticulture-Hydroponic-Indoor-Growing/dp/B00H9OJHYA) and my goal is to produce >= 2 oz's/month. I had planned on outfitting the tent with a cooled 600W HPS. I am from SoCal and have a medical marijuana card so access to great genetics and equipment will not be a problem.
Here are my questions:
I am basing my yield off of the example build setup titled "The Bud Tender" from http://www.reddit.com/r/microgrowery/wiki/guides/starter . Do these setups take into account a small veg room or is that assumed to be separate? Is it even a good practice/feasible to try to have the veg/flower in the same tent (is light bleed going to be too much of a problem child)?
Do people try to pump CO2 in closet grows? In my old grow we had a burner hooked to the natural gas line for our CO2 production however it was a lot larger scale. I'm pretty sure that extra CO2 (w/o smothering the plant) can only help but I'm not sure if it's overkill for four plants in a 8sq ft closet! Thoughts on this?
My close friend works for a commercial growing company based in Colorado. He constantly preaches making sure the grow room is extremely clean (clean enough to eat off the ground!). In a closet grow what is the best way to maintain cleanliness without OVERDOING it? I assume that I should be pulling the pots off the trays and cleaning out the runoff but what about pulling the plants out and cleaning down the reflective walls within the tent? Or is that something to worry about between grow cycles only? (Any general tips exclusive to closet grows would be greatly appreciated)
What is the best way to lower humidity in a closet grow? In my first grow we had a large dehu that took care of the room with no issues at all. Should I expect to buy a dehu for my 40cu ft grow? I know that I can try and move fresh, less moist air into the environment however I'm curious if there are other direct ways to control it (other than a dehu). If the dehu is the best solution (and always better to be safe than sorry) please let me know!
Last but not least - is a 6" inline fan w/ carbon filter and speed control going to be able to sufficiently regulate heat in my grow closet? The environment surrounding the closet will never go above or below extreme temperatures, I'm just wondering if a fan is sufficient to handle the heat from a 600W HPS. On the same note, with the 4' x 2' grow in mind, should I be using a 1000W instead? A little bit more extra investment isn't an issue for me, heat and space are my limiting factors and I don't want my babies to burn up because I became too greedy.
Thanks!
Also, for my Apollo grow tent (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H9OJHYA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2WRS4X4C0GMOQ) - there are two 6" ducts on the sides and one 8" duct on the top ( shown in the diaggram in pictures ).
Where should I mount the intake, exhaust fan, filter, etc.. ?
