Found this post in a search because I am worried about off-brand ones as well. Is this the apple one you got?
OK, cool... so you can use the Ricoh app to transfer pics wirelessly. It's a little wonky, but does seem to work. I have had better luck with the lighting to card reader dongle as it doesn't signal to your iPad a specific power need. I realize this doesn't explain the power/voltage issue, but I think a couple of the other posts have covered that.

You can also get an sd card reader and store them locally as well.
Something like this I’m not affiliated just did a quick search.
Apple Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0198HIF7K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_Z6SQNDA0CSTQWVF8FQKP
I got this one. You just plug that into your phone and plug the SD card into it. I’ve had a few of the hand held ones and never like them. Plus this way you can save the pics you want directly to your phone. They have cheaper ones but I bought an hdmi adapter for my phone that was some off brand to save a few bucks and it didn’t work so figured I’d get the apple one for this
I don’t know about a wifi SD card, but I use this to transfer photos from my SD cards to my iPhone. Works great and transfers Raw fairly quickly. If you don’t have an IPhone I’m sure there’s something similar for other phones.
With the iPad question, the Lightning to SD adapter has worked flawlessly for me. Allows an iPad to save to their camera roll and import into apps like iMovie or Adobe Clip.
Here's the link to Apples SD adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0198HIF7K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_D5ywxbG4F0A21
Slightly off-topic but could help somebody, if you have a jailbroken iPad you can buy a tweak called DSLRcontroller that allows you to use the iPad as a monitor via USB.
When you are browsing photos on your SD/TF card on the iPhone, the phone shows that the battery is below 2% but you still want to continue. what should you do? ? ? ?
I tried to search on Amazon, yes, I found Amazon's recommendation"Apple SD Card Reader".
But I often need to spend more time reading. Many times when I was reading photos, I suddenly found out that my iPhone/iPad was out of power. I have no way. I have to unplug the card reader to charge them, which makes me very upset.
One day when I was browsing the products of related camera accessories, I suddenly saw it."4 in 1 card reader"。
Yes, it caught me.
I can't wait to buy and use it.
I took some introduction of its features,
●Supported format: RAW, ARW, CR2, NEF, JPG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, TIF, ICO, TGA, HEIC. Support iOS 9.2 to latest iOS 11.4 Compatible with iPhone X/8/8 Plus/7/7 Plus/6s/6s Plus/6/6 Plus/SE/5/5c/5s, iPad Mini 1/2/3/4, iPad Air/Air2, iPad Pro etc.
●USB Connect Function : With USB 2.0 OTG interface, your iPhone/iPad could connect camera or another iPhone/iPad transfer photos and videos directly, also USB peripherals like USB ethernet adapter, keyboard and audio/MIDI interfaces etc.
●Operating Voltage: 3.3V
●Operating current: <100mA
●Interface: Lightning/SD Card /TF Card/ USB Receptacle
●W/R Speed: USB2.0 Speed (14MB/S-16MB/S)
But it has some shortcomings, if it can change, it will be great
●1. The maximum value can only read 64G SD/TF card (if there is a device that can read more worth, please share it with me)
●2.D/TF card reader and USB interface cannot be used at the same time
●3. When I connect using a USB device, the system display is not available. I consulted the seller and they told me that the USB current cannot exceed 100mA.
●4.It is “One-Way-Transfer” (if it can import photos directly from the phone to SD/TF, it’s even better for a long time)
●5.The picture files need to be saved in named "DCIM" folder, I tried to put it in the "Picture" folder, it really can't be displayed.
Summary ★★★★☆
Although it has some drawbacks, it solves the problem that I can't charge and read photos at the same time, and I also use my iPad and keyboard link, I like it very much.

I would recommend picking one of these up! You can instantly copy the photo/vids over. (I don’t use either of these specific links, so please do your research)
Yes! Mine came from Amazon here
Yeah, I had the same problem. App is only good for fiddling around in the moment.
If you are an apple user. Try this apple sd card reader.
If you are an android user try one for them.
Just pop your micro sd into the adapter and you can view files instantly. Save what you want to your phone and pop the card right back in.
If you have an apple I suggest the apple sd card reader.I put in my sd card adapter for my micro sd and can view footage straight away.
For android I try one of there card readers. Something like this. Same thing just a nice plug and play.
Can’t answer the parking mode question for you there.
Ended up going with this one and it's worked pretty well so far! Although I've only used it a few times.
Buy a phone to SD card reading adapter. Never put the SD card from your dash cam directly into your phone.

I don't know how well this works on an iphone.
The videos from my trailcam also don't work at all natively on my Android phone. I can watch them with VLC, but need to use a video converter app before I can share them with others.
Here's the app I use: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.inverseai.video_converter
You can use it for free or pay $20 to get rid of ads.
This is the adapter I got:

Edit: sorry, that’s an sd, just search lightning to... and you will find what you need. ALWAYS go for the brand name one too.
Apple loves their dongles!

I am sure third party ones are cheaper, but its nice they have the option. I would imagine this is a more power user solution, but it could be looking into if you find it worth it.
Try something like this. . Way easier. Removes the forcible use of middleman software.
This or something similar, or a USB cable to directly connect.
I'm planning on purchasing this for this exact reason: https://www.amazon.com/Apple-Lightning-Card-Camera-Reader/dp/B0198HIF7K
