Then I set Google photos to back up that folder and leave it

Sometimes that can be caused by an underpowered USB drive - including the one they give you with the car (if you have a mid-2020 or newer). I used to have the same issue... or worse, the car would just choose to turn off the dashcam halfway through my commute.

I read on another post here (and I can confirm that this did solve the issues I was having), if you get a microSD card reader and a fast microSD card (should be U3/V30 or higher), you might have better luck. Worst case, if it doesn't change anything, you can just return it.

I'm not shilling products and those are not affiliate links. You can get any good USB card reader and any microSD card brand you want. Those are just the ones I use and I have had zero issues since I started using them.

There will never be any for USB C that a really appropriate to have in your laptop permanently, they will always protrude by a large amount and potentially cause damage during transportation etc.

I bought something like this, the camera's memory card slots in the side and as well as the usual USB for the computer, there's a type C that plugs straight into my phone so I can transfer the pictures straight across. I'd imagine they do a similar thing for iPhones or phones with a micro USB port, too.

Great picture, it would be nice to see it in all it's glory when you figure the camera out.

I use an Anker SD card reader , it just looks like a USB stick. Plugs into my phone and I pop in the SD card, look at and transfer pics, then clear it and put it back in the trail camera all while I'm in the field. My phone is an android though, Samsung S9.

No. You’ll have to split it into smaller files, do a USB install ( which is what I do) or install over WIFI.

What I personally do, I have a smaller sd card (128 gb) formatted exfat. The main micro sd card in my Switch is 512 GB formatted as fat 32. I copy all the nsp to the 128GB card, even larger than 4 gb. I then use a micro sd to usb-C adapter, plug that into the charging port of the Nintendo switch. And install all my nsp this way with Goldleaf. Works like a charm. And no need to split large nsp files over 4 gb.

if you didn't change anything else, I doubt going from 5 to 6.4 minimum would cause any problems. maybe just a bad night, see if it happens again.

If you're able to see the card while the camera is plugged in, sure, I don't see why a function of the camera would be bad.

However, I would invest in a sd card reader. A decent USB 3.0 card reader is ~$10. Not sure what your budget looks like, but it would be a great investment. Transfer speeds are generally much faster.

Back when I used an angled adapter, this is exactly the Amazon entry that I ordered from. It even says "You purchased this item on April 20, 2018." at the top, but I digress. Definitely sounds like they sent you the wrong adapter! I'd contact them for a return/replacement.

And personally, I'd recommend the Inateck OTG over the angled adapter, but its shortcoming is that you have to use its included power cable instead. And the power cable is just over 1 foot long. I was using a USB extension cable for awhile, but I found that I'd get random power downs and black screens, so now I just deal with having the Classic right next to the power bar.

But with the angled adapter, which I gave up on after a month and a half, had a tendency to get nudged just the slightest bit and then lose the data connection. It was an annoyance. Other people I know don't have that issue, but I wasn't alone.

Unless you know the speed exactly then it would be better off to exceed it on the stick so at least you know there's no bottleneck there. Also I transfer large collections of music ~25 gigs and each time I do I pull out the micro sd and put it into usb 3 reader where the card is the bottleneck even at 90 MB/s. Not to mention your future phone might be able to read/write much higher which future proofs it a little. It's a 10$ difference for a lot of advantages.

I'm actually not even a photographer or have any sort of specialized job that has me requiring SD/microSD cards (so as far as I know, I don't really have any sort of converter like that lying around). Not even that much of a PC gamer either! I just figured I would buy the Best Buy Extreme Plus 128 micro since it's apparently extremely fast (and may have a higher resale value, too, than the Ultra Plus 256 micro that Best Buy also has).

Canon has an app that will transfer images to my phone using WiFi, but it only transfers .jpg files. Even if your camera is set to shoot raw only. I guess it converts the file. I want to edit the raw files so I ended up getting an Anker card reader that connects to the phones usb-c port. Fits SD and micro SD cards

I used to have a mini SD to sd adapter, and the mini SD card always got stuck in the adapter.

At the beginning I used my teeth to get them out, and later did it with tweezers because it was much easier. In doing so, I damaged and broke the card.
Therefore, don't get it out with tweezers!
I would contact the seller first, since their sold product doesn't function properly, not letting go of the micro sd card again.

If you're stuck solving it on your own, I'd dismantle the reader to get the card out.

Another option is a SD card reader that has a unique GUID. I have been using this one successfully for a while now an no problems:

An advantage of an SD card reader is you can change out the cards at will without having to swap licenses since it's tied to the GUID of the reader.

But as others have said, a quality smaller USB2 flash drive is the recommended way to go

Simplest out of the way install is a long Mini-USB cable to your accessory, routed around the weather stripping. That's all you really need for it. You could get the GPS mount if you want, but that's only if you need your location and speed burned into the video.

Actually, the newer Vantrue N2S is probably a better deal. It comes with a GPS mount, and uses the more common USB-C, and the Micro SD card is more accessible.

You'll want a couple 256GB Micro SD cards, so you can swap them out.

This way, I could transfer the card contents to my hard drive without having to bring in the camera.

I know it seems like a lot to set up, but once you have your system down, it's really pretty easy to do. I haven't driven Uber since lockdowns started, but I still keep my camera going. I no longer save all my video since I'm not rideshare driving, but it's still nice to have a camera incase something happens.

From what I've read, the official way to use a USB with the iPad is by using Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter. Often this doesn't work or (worse) only works sometimes. It seems that this only powers the iPad and not the USB key...or whatever. For some reason, many USB keys require power. One solution seems to be using a hub. I haven't tried that.

My solution is to use a microSD reader as a USB key. Buy a microSD chip (eg 32GB) and use that to ferry your files from the computer to the iPad and back again. So not a normal USB key. The micro SD reader is like a downscale version of a USB eg: USB keys have a microSD glued inside them...but somehow the iPad doesn't really like them. The 'micro SD reader method' does not confuse the Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter. Files transfer easily back and forth. I have one of these. Super cheap and works great. I can't stand doing the wireless transfers.

This is what I used to test it. I didn't get through the install process because that PC can't run Windows 11, but it did boot to the installer.

Mine has been having issues for years. It works fine sometimes, then next time it won't connect no matter how many times I try.

Just buy something like that if you're so concerned. or a USB-C ssd. Micro SD isn't going to be on any future models either, and 2 year old hardware will need to be replaced faster.

The cards used to come with an adapter but I noticed that a lot of them don't anymore.

The cards don't last forever and are subject to failure. I back up my photos online and replace the card every so often, usually when a larger capacity card comes out and the prices come down.

Hey all, I'm having trouble getting my memory card set up to support my dash cam, and thought y'all might have the answer.

When I plug in the USB-C SD card reader I bought, which has an SD card inserted, the Tesla HUD says "Plug in only one USB drive to format". Is there some secret USB card somewhere? I haven't inserted any card anywhere else. I read that card readers with multiple ports might cause this problem — is that true?

Most of the creality printers take micro sd cards. These are a pretty standard size and should be available many places.

So I was at the step where you put create the boot9strap folder on the root of the SD card and copy the two files over but when I opened the boot9strap folder this file was already in it.

You just download the program Oscar, run the installer, setup a profile. And yep just a regular SD card, install it into your machine and it'll record the data...

The safest way is to turn the phone off before popping out the 64GB SD card. However as long as you're not actively writing data to an SD Card you can hot swap them at any time without much risk. The only real complication with the S10 is that the microSD card tray is the same as the SIM card tray, and if you pop it out your phone won't be able to make or receive calls until you put it back in. You might need to restart the phone too if it doesn't recognize the SIM card when you plug it back in.

If you want to move your data over from the 64GB SD card to the new 128GB card, you'll need a PC or something to plug both cards into to transfer the data. A USB microSD adapter that you can plug into your phone would also work as you can mount USB hard drives to the S10 via USB.

I have been an Anker fan for a long time, and I'd agree they have a fantastic reputation for a reason. I've been using this one by Anker.

I'd recommend it about as much as the UGREEN one. The UGREEN one has more features for a slightly lower price, but I don't think it's as well-known and trusted of a brand as Anker. That being said, I've bought a few UGREEN products and they've all been decent.

I'm a big fan of this one, I keep a 512GB MicroSD in it and carry it daily for work. Close to 100MB/S real world transfer speeds to a Samsung EVO select card.

You can use a USB 3.0 drive in a 2.0 slot if you’re not able to locate a 2.0 drive. Heat is the reason why 3.0 drives are not recommended, but they don’t get hot when operating at 2.0. Alternatively you can pick up a USB Card reader (as long as it has a unique GUID) and use a microSD card or SD card. This makes it extremely easy to swap drives in case of a failure as the GUID is provided by the reader and not the storage device. I am using the below from Anker, and heat is not an issue at all.

sometimes people have treatment emergent central apneas that fade with time. usually over a few weeks, so I'd think this was the tweaks the doctor made remotely (which is what they are supposed to do, so it's good).

.arw is a Sony raw format, raw means it has larger file sizes and more ability to make drastic editing to the colors, highlights, and shadows. You can change the camera to shoot .jpg files which your Chromebook will readily recognize. You can also set it to shoot RAW+JPEG. If you want to simply extract or convert your existing .arw files to the more universal .jpg files, that is relatively easy.

As for a replacement computer, you should list a budget. A new $3000 Macbook Pro would be excellent, and has an SD reader built in, but I suspect that's not in your budget. There are many decent Windows laptops from manufacturers like Acer, HP, Dell, etc. in the $400-600 range.

Looks like you've already tried. Do not try to modify the school hardware that has been assigned to you.

Instead, if you want to use Micro SD cards on this for some reason, just get a ~$10 Micro SD USB plug, like this, and use it in that available, presumably functional USB port.

I advise getting an external memory card reader for your phone like this one, so that you can copy the recording as soon as you're sure you've safely shut off the camera.

The reader is 10mm thick which is way too thick to put in my wallet. A micro SD + reader combo would be fine as long as the reader is thin. I'm really hoping for 3mm thick (not much more than the type c plug), but up to 5mm may be fine. I haven't found anything like that, though.

This reader is the best I have seen, and it still looks at least 7mm thick. I can't find proper specs on the size.

All new Teslas come with a flash drive in the glove box to use with Sentry Mode.

You will find two groups on recommendations for the memory to record on for Tesla dashcam and Sentry Mode. One group recommends SSDs because they can definitely take a bunch of write cycles and are fast.

But I and many others recommend and have been using for many years a microSD card that is "endurance" rated asking with a USB 3 to microSD adapter. The endurance rated microSD cards are fast enough to handle the 4 cameras recording at the same time, they are small and power efficient, they are rated for many weeks cycles (the "endurance" rating means they are meant for continuous video recording like in security cameras), they have better temperature ratings, and some have great warranties. Just don't use a regular USB flash drive because a lot of them are meant for occasional use and the continuous writing from a dashcam will wear out the memory and give you errors or not record when you need it.

I've had one of these little $10 Transcend ones for like 5 years and it has been fast and reliable. I like that it has both an SD and microSD socket, because I've problems with microSD-SD adapters and it's nice to be able to ground-truth the microSD itself.

I think there are faster USB adapters available now, these do max out at about 100Mb/s.

Flash drives in general: They won't harm the Wii U, but since flash memory has limited writes, eventually the drive may die and you will lose all the installed games -- and more importantly, their save data. I wouldn't worry about it failing too too much, but yeah, you would want to make more regular backups of the save data you care about.

Micro SD cards: Yeah there's nothing really unsafe. Use a name-brand USB adapter if you want, like Anker or SanDisk. The adapter might get hot since it can't disperse heat as well. Hot enough to be uncomfortable to touch, but not enough to be dangerous to anything.

I use this for storage via the SD port (currently 32GB), and then the additional USB ports for extra controllers.

I did also buy a USB/wifi dongle, but never bothered trying to get it to work so won't opine on that.

There's a bit of trial and error though as not all of these hubs work as expected, but I did buy two when they were still available on AMZN and both worked fine.

If you just want to save a few clips here and there for memory's sake, just hit the lock button on the cam. If you want to keep everything for a timelapse or something then you'll need more and/or bigger sd cards.

For a faster way to download clips on the road, I use this thingy which works great and much less of a hassle than downloading via wifi. (you should be able to find something similar for iPhone/iPad)

I've never timed it but I have the VIOFO A129 Pro and a 375 MB file (1 minute recording time at max bitrate) takes less than 30 seconds. That's just a guess though but I've never felt that it was painfully slow. And I've only done that when I capture something on a morning commute (locked file so easy to find) and want to show a coworker.

Otherwise I remove the card and load all the files (remember I'm using 1 minute loops) into a VLC Playlist on my desktop pc that's connected to a 4k TV.

I just got this USB card reader that can plug into my phone via USB C. It shows up as an external drive and makes it more convenient than using wifi to view or copy a lot of files. The camera included a card reader but this seems a faster from my limited testing. I'm averaging about 80 Mbps.
