These cheap things cured the pain in my arch. I wore them at work one day. It was very uncomfortable but ever since it's been totally better. I think the muscle on the bottom of the foot starts to get to tight and you have to apply pressure to it to loosen it up.
So glad to hear you're in a better headspace.
I don't have any recommendations for a mat/rug.
However, if your slippers are too clunky and too hot, but you need arch support, I have found that these slip-on arch supports are great and affordable. They can go on your bare foot or over a sock, and you can wear them with or without shoes or slippers. They've got wide elastic that goes over the top of the foot and a nice squishy bottom.
They're particularly helpful if your connective tissue in your feet is degrading, causing your foot to flatten or be overly flexible.
If you have the burning pain in your feet, these might be too intense, but if its other kinds of pain and arch support, these are fantastic, imo.
Also some Birkenstocks or other cork-based shoes which molds specifically to your feet might be helpful, whether you want sandals, boots, or low-tops. They can be pricey, so you might want to check out the very gently used options. Be careful about the cork inside though, you don't want it if its already well-conformed to someone else's foot shape.
If you don't have compression socks or snug, soft leggings, these can also help reduce edema a bit and therefore reduce the skin-level hypersensitivity it causes.
So, not at all what you asked for, but hopefully there's something in there that helps a bit.
No advice, but I'm also 6 months PP and so frustrated with my feet!! Solidarity! I recently bought some extra arch support pads (these) and they seem to maybe be helping? I've been wearing them full-time unless I've been sleeping/showering and my feet feel better during the day. The mornings are still a little rough, though I think I may be seeing some slight improvement? I have no idea. I'm happy enough that I'll continue wearing them for the next several weeks and see if they fix whatever this is. It's horrible. I'm sorry that you're also suffering!
I just bought some shoes without arc support. I have no problems in my arches/feet, but would it still be worth it to buy these? Or are they only for people with flat feet?
Are arch support inserts like these: Arch Support only meant for people with flat feet or are they also useful for people with healthy arches who are wearing shoes with no support?
I have some orthofeet sneakers, which I wear to work and when I'm walking around. When I'm at home, I try not to go in bare feet, I have a pair of B'zees soft cushioned shoes I wear around that have some support in them as well.
I also sometimes sleep with a brace that keeps my foot flexed at night. Usually I wear it after I've been walking around a lot to keep the tendons in a stretched position. Sometimes just wearing an arch support while I sleep or when I'm hanging around the house also helps. I have some of these and these which also help. Sometimes having support all the way around the foot helps, because the foot pain makes me walk a little funny and can stress the tendons on the topside of the foot too.
The other thing I have is a spiky death ball thing that I roll around under my foot that kind of loosens everything up. I usually start with a towel between it and my foot until my foot loosens up.
YMMV, but I find all these things help.
