I know you don't wanna spend any money, but hot stapler works awesome. Mine has paid for itself several times.
In my experience, any form of glue or JB weld will give up. I've heard of good experiences using superglue and baking soda, but I think this tool is the "right way" to fix cracked fairings:
I take it the car is driveable and the damage is cosmetic.
I'd stop in an autobody place and get an estimate. So you know what you are dealing with. New cars use a ton of plastic body panel clips that snap off. There is a tool that heats and embeds a wire into the plastic for repairing those broken clips.
So the shop might say "repair broken clips $300, but a new panel with paint $1400." In that case, I'd have the $300 repair done. This also helps if you turn it in and they claim $5000 in body damage, you can tell them not so fast.
