My Hyper X Cloud II just broke and I'm looking into getting a new headset. Are the Astro A40s good? I did research online and I saw some people recommend getting the mix amp as well. However, this makes them much more expensive, is there a real advantage to having it?
Thanks for the info. So if I buy the PS4 A40's I can just plug the headset into the controller and the mix amp into my Xbox? I also saw that I can buy the PS4 headset (black) and the Xbox mix amp separately on Amazon but it seems fishy because no where else sells the headset alone so I am wondering if they really are Astros. Here is the link for the PS4 (black) headset http://www.amazon.com/ASTRO-Gaming-A40-TR-PC-Headset/dp/B014LH5LH4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1451349170&sr=8-3&keywords=astro+a40+tr
These are somewhat pricey but they work with the PC and Xbox One. I recommend the version without the mixamp.

They seem to be pretty pricey,i found one for $150 but i don’t know If that one also works for ps4

If you want an audiophile grade open back headphones you can get the phillips shp9500 with a vmoda boom pro(replaces the 3.5mm cable from the phillips with a 3.5mm cable with a mic attached to it that actually works really good ive personally have used the vmoda boom pro, and these also dont have much bass since they are open back but will give you a good soundstage and a more flat overall sound which is great) https://www.amazon.com/Philips-SHP9500-Precision-Over-ear-Headphones/dp/B00ENMK1DW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468999443&sr=8-1&keywords=phillips+shp9500

I'm sorry, but what??
Unless you're thinking of a different brand
I use an Astro A40 which you can find here: https://www.amazon.com/ASTRO-Gaming-A40-TR-PC-Headset/dp/B014LH5LH4/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1469896055&sr=1-2&keywords=astro+a40 Quality for listening to music, watching videos, and gaming. If you wanted something cheaper I recommend Razer Krakens https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Kraken-Analog-Headset-Playstation/dp/B00Z0IBM4K/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1469896124&sr=1-1&keywords=razer+kraken which you can get in usb or audio jacks. The astros are just audio jacks btw.
