This is a good one. I just got it and have used at least 6 different chromebook’s as daily drivers over the past two years. It’s $379 but look out for Black Friday deals or buy a used one from Amazon Warehouse Deals

I'd suggest this one, if you can buy during the current sale:

Amazon also has some promotion with AMEX, so if you have an american express card to pay with you can save an additional $20 or more.
This chromebook specifically fits for your needs because it lacks a touchscreen, which some consider a drawback as it limits android gaming possibilities, but you don't want to be distracted by games so there you go. It also has a highly rated keyboard, probably the best in it's price range, and 8GB of RAM and a 2026 OS support end date.
Even though I don't really need another device, I'm thinking about getting this as a spare device.
If my CB2 crapped out tomorrow I'd be looking at the Asus C425.
It has a larger 14" screen, but smaller bezels so it's about the same size overall.
Hi, if you are okay with Chrome OS, you could get the ASUS Chromebook C425 that is currently on sale for a great price. You get an m3-8100Y processor, 8 GB RAM, and 64 GB eMMC storage. The weight is 2.8lbs and it has a 1080p 14" IPS display.
`Maybe this laptop meets your expectations. Its a Chromebook which is great for studying yet has really good specs for a Chromebook. Its less than 700 USD, and more than 13 inch. ASUS Chromebook C425:

Or, if you want a windows laptop I would recommend this laptop. Its less than $700, is 13 inches, and has more power than the Chromebook and will last you longer. Samsung Galaxy Book:

I tested it on this chrome book: https://www.amazon.com/Chromebook-Clamshell-NanoEdge-Processor-C425TA-DH384/dp/B07VT254P6
Wow, the Asus Chromebook C425 is on sale now for 380$ https://www.amazon.com/Chromebook-Clamshell-NanoEdge-Processor-C425TA-DH384/dp/B07VT254P6
8gb of Ram, i5, 1920x1080, back lit keyboard... That may be the best value now.
There is this, though:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VT254P6/ref=sspa_dk_detail_7?spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyNFk4TFZXSTY3SFNNJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNjM2ODE4OEJWWUszREk3MTkxJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA3NjU4ODQyR1dOREc1WFhSMFRGJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfZGV0YWlsMiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1This should run MTG easier for you, and at quick glance it's on a sale from 500 down to 320 but the 8GB RAM vs 4GB RAM will be noticeable.
Otherwise if you're feeling brave, you could check out any refurbished/renewed laptops for sale as they're normally cheaply priced well below typical market value - but it's honestly hit or miss whether or not you run into problems.
