don't want to be a party pooper but that looks like a direct rip off of the asus hyper m2 x4 V2 pcie card, which btw is more than half the price on amazon
I'm using one with bifurcation in my 32bay nas for cache storage
This is the question I want to know of how gameplay with change with the RTX IO, Velocity architecture, and kraken architecture.
Because the SSD is slower 10x than RAM and 100x slower than CPU cache. They talk about the SSD being slower RAM.
Maybe UE5 will show us something? But that was ran on a similar spec PC without any of RTX IO, Velocity architecture, and kraken architecture, nor do we know the SSD speed of that demo, and it was running 8k textures with better Lighting.
For that Demo PC in the UE5 demo to have a similar SSD speed it would have to have a Raid card like this...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07PCKTL1J/ref=dp_prsubs_1
Because the SSD at the time that Demo released weren't as fast as the PS5 SSD.
Appreciate this.
RAIDZ2 woukd be welcome but if possible. We've heard of 4-slot riser cards like prosumer ones like the ASUS Hyper but not having much luck finding any 6-slot versions - perhaps they are so enterprise, they're generally just available on account?
If you had any models or links at some point for 6-slot or 5-slot (as we have a slot onboard,) we'd be extremely extremely grateful!
Thanks in advance if you can.
I just cut out everything that wasn't needed.
In fact, with Amazon you can make it even shorter if every character counts:
Here's your link without all the tracking shit: https://www.amazon.de/Asus-Hyper-m-2-X16-Card/dp/B07PCKTL1J
I have 6x SATA drives and 3x USB drives.
It's causing a lot of mess and bottlenecks here and there as you can imagine.
I am doing major PC revamping and was wondering what's better for storage overhaul.
I was going to go for 3x SATA Samsung 860 EVO's
But then I kind of want to reduce cable clutter, so was wondering would it be better to get something like this:
and 3 of these:
Would 3x M.2 perform as well as 3x SATA? I don't quite understand how can single PCI lane push out bandwidth of 3x SATA ports?
Seriously where is this coming from. Where have you all been for the past 10 years?
This card that takes 4 SSD's is £40 and is 16 lanes. Gen 4 is not limited to 4 lanes, every PC has 16 lane slots. But for SSD's we deemed 4 lanes to be enough so we make them small with 4 lanes. If you wanna run SSD's with 16 lanes go for it
And you only need 2 SSD's to overtake the PS5's configuration. Say 2 of these for £70 each that pull 3.3GB/s each. Giving a total of £190 for 1TB of 6.6GB/s real world incompressible and 10+GB/s compressible delivered to your door by Amazon tomorrow.
Furthermore using multiple SSD's is not cheating because every SSD achieves higher performance just by using more memory chips. The PS5 simply calls more memory chips 1 SSD. Every SSD with more than one memory chip which is most of them effectively RAID0's the memory chips. Have you all learned nothing from all these Linus vids constantly being posted here?
The compression aspect is moot, all SSD's ever have crazy speeds using compressible data. The reason games will load instantly because up until now assets had to be so heavily and inefficiently compressed by a CPU as it's heavy work to compress that far for enough data to be read by a consoles 100MB/s raw throughput hard drive we had to make sure that 100MB becomes way more and our poor PC's have been stuck having to do the same thing and having their SSD's chill at 1% usage. SSD have had on the fly controller based compression since SSD's started. But hard drives haven't so we've been stuck on games using CPU based compression.
Everyone will be able to rest and come out the Sony propaganda once the consoles are released and their PC SSD's are not surprisingly loading up new games just as fast and finally being used.

Sony did not just overtake decades of other companies SSD development progress out the blue but they sure do have great marketing.
