Hey guys! I’ve been wanting to get into vinyl for a few years. I started doing research this January and bought my LP-120 at the beginning of March. I know I’ve gone a little crazy, and my wallet hates me at this point, but I am addicted!
I couldn’t figure out how I wanted to display the vinyl, shelves seemed like a really expensive option for such a huge wall. Ultimately I decided to just buy trim from Lowe’s for the lip of the shelf, and a crown molding insert for underneath. I absolutely love it! What do you guys think?
For anyone interested the display records are:
Ed Sheeran - Plus Garden State Soundtrack No Doubt - Magic Kingdom Arcade Fire - Everything Now Jeff Buckley - Grace Taylor Swift - reputation The Smiths - The Queen is Dead The Beatles - Abbey Road Michael Jackson - Thriller FleetwoodMac - Rumors Haim - Something to tell you Weezer - The blue album John Bellion - The human condition Daft punk - Random access memories Lana Del Rey - Born to die Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 experience 500 days of summer soundtrack The Goo Goo Dolls - Dizzy up the girl The Who - Tommy Taylor swift - 1989 The 1975 - The 1975 Halsey - Badlands Adele - 25 Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon

Edit:
I keep getting questions about the speaker stands, here they are.
Atlantic 77335799 Speaker Stands for Bookshelf Speakers up to 20 lbs - Pair (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007P8DKDE?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
If you have the space and money, you should invest in some speaker stands. That’ll improve the soundstage of your music and reduce vibrations.
Here is a pair that I use. They’re pretty inexpensive compared to other stands, but they get the job done for me.
Atlantic Adjustable Speaker Stands 2-Pack Black - Steel Construction, Pedestal Style & Wire Management for Bookshelf Speakers up to 20 lbs PN77335799 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007P8DKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_M7W3FKM59NMCB4GH3QBQ
These speaker stands are $45.89 on Amazon. They support up to 20lbs, and stand 30in tall. The top plate is 6in by 6in, and the bottom playe is 10in by 10in. Thay also have small holes for cable management.
KEF makes stands, but at 500$ even I wouldn't buy them.
Here's some solid stands for 50$ on amazon:
If you dont need them that tall, you can save even more money.
They're my first ever experience with speaker stands, so grain of salt here... but I really like them. They're very sturdy (I'm clumsy and have bumped them pretty hard without them toppling). They have spikes at the base and an option to use removable spikes or pads on the speaker platforms. I opted for the spikes. It seems to me like they're really cutting down on unwanted vibrations, but again, I'm new at this.
Lots of room to run cables through the centre of them.
Here's the Amazon.ca link to them: Stands

They’ve been working out pretty well.

These are them. I originally had the rp-500ms on them so I guess the 600s are a little big for them. They work but if I was starting with no stand I would probably look for something a little thicker

Here they are. They’re cheap. Haha. But they get the job done. Pretty stable. Nice to be able to rotate the top for toeing in. They also have spikes for carpet which is nice

Here you go, took me a while to find the right ones. They were on sale for a bit less when I got them though.
Now that I think about it, it would probably look pretty legit on a bookshelf speaker stand like this one. Hmm...
Here’s a decent set I found that I might try from amazon.

I just picked these up for cheap here in the states. Nothing special but they get the job done.

No problem link is here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007P8DKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_BTYZDbKRPKEC5 ....... I would say they are solid stands. 30 inches tall, wire management, speakers fit well. There may be better ones out there, but I liked these at the sub $50 price point.
These are great. Metal, stable, as close to "built like a tank" as you're going to get for $40.
The "carbon fiber" pattern on the base looks tacky in the photos, but is barely visible in person.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007P8DKDE
If there's a downside it's that the actual speaker platforms are only just barely large enough for midsize bookshelf speakers. The stands are sturdy, and there is zero chance of your speaker shaking and falling off on its own. However they can be knocked off by pets or kids.
Height depends on your seating and the speakers. You want the tweeter normally to be ear level, so measure your ear level from the floor, and subtract that from say 60%-80% of the speaker height. Then, you have to factor in if the speaker stands have a slight angle or not.
These for $45 ain’t bad, they have wire concealment, different options for speaker base (foam/rubber or spikes), and have a 45° swivel speaker base, so you can adjust toe-in while keeping the stands straight.
I found my stands off Craigslist.
This one looks great for the price, wire concealment and an swivel base to adjust toe-in.
I just searched Craigslist and found a few for $25. Then I just calculated the proper height needed, and took into account of their base being angled up.
Searching Amazon, these for $45 seem awesome, they have wire concealment and the base swivels to allow toe-in.
These have been really sturdy for me.
https://amazon.com/gp/product/B007P8DKDE/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The "carbon fiber" pattern on the bases look really tacky in the photos. My plan was to cover them with a vinyl wrap or refinish them somehow so they wouldn't be eyesores since we have kind of a "vintage" look in the living room. But, the "carbon fiber" finish wound up being not particularly noticeable in real life. Unobtrusive enough that the wife and I haven't felt like refinishing them or covering them.
Check out the Elac B6. Researched them and found they are apparently as good as speakers 3 times their price. Bought them and yep I was blown away.
Also picked up some of these: https://www.amazon.com/Atlantic-Speaker-Stands-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B007P8DKDE/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1479311051&sr=8-14&keywords=speaker+stands
Now I'm just looking for proper amplification for them.
Alright, thanks, guess I will still go for that 2.1 amp then.
Sadly I couldn't find adjustable stands, but I found a solid one that is close enough for my desk, slightly taller.
Atlantic bookshelf speaker stands, supports 20 pounds, 30 inches tall ($65): https://www.amazon.com/Atlantic-77335799-Speaker-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B007P8DKDE
Welp, time to research microphones now, see ya!

If the cabinet they are sitting on isn't wide enough, consider getting speaker stands:
https://www.amazon.com/Atlantic-77335799-Speaker-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B007P8DKDE/
Also consider getting a third Q150 to use as a center channel:
There are actually a lot of people selling a single Q150 for the exact same reason. They come in pairs, but people need an odd number for surround sound:
Speakers: Audioengine A5+. Have had them for 5 years and are amazing. Love them for what I need. Speaker stand: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007P8DKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apip_OfL8p9vIgxXky
Well...no
The cheapest on amazon delivered is $20 each, so you are at $40.
For $50 you can get a pair of real speaker stands.
Cat stands (owned many) are as jerryphoto has pointed out, are cheap pieces of crap, often not stable when new, and they don't get better. And if you actually had a cat, the speakers would end up knocked over
And DIY is often not more than assembling things, just like the cat stand you get in the mail
If you want cheaper than the JBL Stage A120, I'd suggest the Neumi BS5. I've used these stands and these cheap side tables in the past. You could also search "plant stands" or "bar stools" to potentially find some other cheap options.
I was on a budget and bought these.
https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B007P8DKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_AAW83KSTAXH48M4Q5B5N
Cheap and cheerful. Use them with my RP 500M's. The base doesn't look carbon fibre-y, like the picture.
I've used these stands and these cheap side tables in the past. You also might find some more options by searching for "plant stand".
Ah yes, now I remember that package in Canada.
Atlantic may be just as good as Kanto for half the cost.
Or Monolith in Cherry.
I have Salamander Designs media center. Pricey but I found my Synergy used.
Put a cutting board on top of something like this?

I bought them on Amazon
They’re alright. Got them off amazon

Dollar for dollar, I think it's hard to beat these stands. They're only 30 inches high but maybe you could compensate for that with a pad to get a bit more height.
I've used these stands for small surrounds, but they're a bit wobbly for my tastes.
i would get some speaker stands like these to put on the sides so your desk would look a little cleaner, maybe give you room for a tiny lamp
I got the Atlantic Speakers Stands on Amazon. Also those are the Klipsch R15 PM
I just bought these from Amazon for the same speakers and they're holding up great! Great price as well.

I personally wouldn't recommend them. They feel really flimsy and they're easy to tip over.
They are Atlantic brand bookshelf speaker stands, you can find them on Amazon here.
The Yamaha A-S501 is good for $550.
For speakers, maybe the KEF Q350 for $650.
For the sub, Rythmik LV12R or L12, for ~$500-$550.
For the turntable, the U-Turn Custom, with a color finish (wood finish is too expensive in my opinion), acrylic platter, 2M Red (or splurge for the Blue), with cue lever, and no pre-amp. Would be like $390 shipped, or $615 shipped with a wood finish and Blue cartridge.
For speaker stands, these seem good, as they allow for toe-in by swiveling the top plate.
For speaker wire, any will do, but if you want to splurge a bit, get these.
For the subwoofer cable, the AmazonBasics or MediaBridge Ultra are fine, black or white. If you want to splurge a tiny bit, get this.
Is it really that large? I know speaker wire that has a thicker gauge and has a braided jacket that is 9mm, 14mm seems oddly large.
That said, most cable management holes aren’t that small. In the US, one of the available stands is this one and as you can see in this review, the wire concealment hole is large.
Bro get some speaker stands!

There are probably better stands, search around. This will completely change the sound in your room!
