Looking for a very specific cable. I have these headphones and I want a cable that has in-line controls for Android. Play/pause button for sure but volume up/down would be a real treat. This would be relatively easy to find but it's the color that's making it tough; I really want it in brown to match the headphones, with red or gray being other acceptable colors, or maybe even some other color to compliment it. Black on any part is no good.
You could check these out. Audio Technica MSR7. More towards gaming, but they sound great with tv shows and music.

Pair mod mic and possibly an entry level dac/amp combo.
Thought I'd bring this to your attention. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PEUBIKM ATH-MSR7 on sale for $150
The HD 598 cs didn't drop to $99 like last year but it's still a good deal at $150. I'd pick it over the HD 569 just cus of looks/build.
So that's 2 Audio Technica and 2 Sennheisers all at $150 for you to consider.
Let us know what you get!
I've always been a huge fan of Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic, and Sennheiser you can't go wrong with any of them
I'm currently using Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM SonicPro Over-Ear High-Resolution Audio Headphones, Gun Metal Gray https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00PEUBIKM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fDhnzbZ7PPAK5
And I absolutely love them.
ahh okay I am going to go for the open back then, I also have never had them so I might as well try them! I cant decide between the X2 and these https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-MSR7GM-SonicPro-High-Resolution-Headphones/dp/B00PEUBIKM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479969239&sr=8-1&keywords=Audio-Technica+ATH-MSR7GM+SonicPro+Over-Ear+High-Resolution+Audio+Headphones
what do you think of them.
Unfortunately you're not going to find a set of ATH cans in that price range that offer better bass than the M50. The next expensive ATH model that's still within that price is the MSR7-GM and its sound signature is neutral/balanced rather than bass-heavy.
Hmm well they're quite expensive here in Canada. https://www.amazon.ca/Audio-Technica-ATH-MSR7GM-High-Resolution-Audio-Headphones/dp/B00PEUBIKM/ref=pd_rhf_gw_p_img_11?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=015XR58MJG6T6PC2RW55
I'll go from cheapest to most expensive here:
Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM - $199
AKG K702 - $232 (I have the older version of these, the K701s, and they've been going strong for ~8 years. Can't recommend them enough.)
HIFIMAN HE-400I - $249
Sony MDR1A - $298
Monoprice Monolith M1060 - $299
Sennheiser HD 650 - $315.99
AKG K712 - $379
Most of these headphones will really shine with a little headphone amp to give them a bit more power than your computer or phone's audio output can deliver. Something like a FiiO E10k works amazing. Or the FiiO A3 for a portable solution. Or if you want something that looks a bit sexier and is more of a stay on your desk kind of thing, you can go for something like this or this. Either way, any of these headphones will blow your Bose cans away no question - like not even in the same league of sound quality.

Description | The ATH-MSR7 is an unrivaled set of headphones, both in its price range and its category. Purchase the ATH-MSR7 here. (Price fluctuates quite frequently, so grab them when they drop significantly below $250.) https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-MSR7GM-SonicPro-High-Resolution-Headphones/dp/B00PEUBIKM (I apologize for the occasionally peaking audio; the track was too lengthy to prerecord.) https://twitter.com/nasdavii https://www.instagram.com/nasdavii |

Are these an ugly colour
ATH MSR7s here's a link for amazon.com
ATH MSR7 are on sale for 189 USD at amazon.
Budget - Up to $300, however, I would like to spend less and value for the money is my main concern.
Source - Mostly my desktop PC with a Xonar DGX sound card. Evidently it comes with a "headphone amp" which appears to be this "Texas Instruments DRV601"
Occasionally my Nexus 6p
Requirements for Isolation - Decent isolation would be beneficial but not entirely necessary.
Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Potentially, but they will be used mostly in private at home.
Preferred Type of Headphone - MUST be over ear
Preferred tonal balance - Neutral, I listen to a ton of different types of music and sound. I like bass, but I wouldn't describe myself as a basshead.
Past headphones - I have been using my Sony MDR-V6s for quite some time.
Preferred Music - I listen to every kind of music. From hip-hop, edm, and dubstep to classical pieces, choral music, and acoustic songs with a focus on vocals. It depends on my mood, but most of all, these will be used everyday for gaming, specifically CSGO. With that in mind, a good soundstage is important. With that said, I understand the best soundstage is attained with open cans, but I would prefer closed. Ideally, I would like a pair of closed headphones with a great soundstage.
What would you like to improve on from your set-up - I would like a better sound stage and overall better sound. I'm basically just looking for a solid upgrade over my MDR-V6s that I currently use everyday.
I have been doing plenty of research and I love the way the Audio Technica MSR7s look, and from reviews they are my #1 choice right now. However, I found that the AT AD900Xs are currently $149 on amazon at the moment and those look very enticing, but I honestly hate the way they look, and they are open, which in combination basically means I would be limited to using them exclusively at home. Do the AD900x offer an impressive enough sound stage and good enough quality in sound for that price that they would be worth getting despite them being limited to at home usage vs the MSR7s, which I would be happy to take on the go?
The two cans currently at the top of my list:
Thank you for your advice!
Quick question, I'm looking at buying a pair of AudioTechnica MSR7s on Amazon. If I go with the gunmetal colors, the Japan Import is cheaper than the SonicPro. Is there any difference between the Japan Import and the SonicPro?
SonicPro: http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-MSR7GM-SonicPro-High-Resolution-Headphones/dp/B00PEUBIKM
Japan Import: http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-MSR7-GM-Gun-Metal-Resolution/dp/B00OTADUJA
Here is the only information I could find regarding Import series, although the MSR7 is not listed: http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/features/2eaff052bda10314/
Thanks in advance for any help!
On Amazon UK they're $149.00.
Sorry, but would have helped if you actually mentioned what country you're in in the first place instead of leaving me to guess.
ath-msr7s are quite nice! pretty much flat response but leaning towards bright i think
