If you really want quality, and I mean audio quality and absolute comfort then try the ATH-AG1's. They are slightly over your price range at $246 but I have these and have a bunch of Turtle Beach headsets and by far I find these are the best for shooters. I play COD Advanced Warfare and Titanfall a lot and a bit of Destiny.
They are PREMIUM headsets, Audio-Technica are renowned for their audiophile quality amongst musicians and studio monitoring headphones, and these are basically the same as the ATH-A900X but with a mic attached, so if you don't want a mic you could get the 900X cheaper.
I have a bunch of Turtle Beach headsets and just wanted something that was better audio quality still along with superior comfort and these really did it for me. Coupled with the Turtle Beach Controller Plus for Superhuman hearing (hearing footprints when people sneak up on you), you won't get much better than this, but it is a little over your budget, but you get what you pay for ;)
I highly recommend the Audio Technica ATHAG1's I love them more than my m50x's and my 598SE's. Plus the come with a USB DAC/AMP and one of the best sounding integrated mic's I've ever used/seen. Linus has a review of them here If you guys want to know any thing else about them let me know. I picked mine up a year ago and couldn't be happier :)
Worth every cent.
Generally speaking, most headphones/headsets advertised as "gaming" headphones/headsets are either extremely poor quality or a ripoff (or both).
Case in point:
This "gaming" headset uses the exact same drivers/parts as these headphones. You could buy the second pair, slap a modmic on them (which I can all but guarantee would be of better quality than the hardwired mic on the first pair) and have the exact same, if not slightly better, product for literally less half the cost.
On that principle alone I would avoid the pair you're looking at. Especially for $300.
I would recommend Audio Technica AG1's. Very nice sound, great mic, and really nice auto-adjusting fit that works well with head straps and extra gear on your head. I have these for my PC and they are fantastic. I've worn them for upwards of 9 hours before I started noticing I even had them on. The only possible downside is lots of shaking around might cause them to come loose. Other than that, I highly recommend these.
As far as IEMs go, Sennheiser IE80's are great. I also have these for on-the-go listening. Fantastic sound (a little bass heavy for my taste, but I like a really flat sound) and comfortable for long listening. These definitely stay in your ears if you have the best-fitting tips on out of the 12 sets that come with the headphones.
Either way, both are great headsets, despite the price tags.
