Hmm, I don’t know about that. I’d be concerned about it ruining your mat. Powdered chalk/resin is super easy to swipe off your mat after practice. This is what I use: AURORAE Yoga Non Slip Rosin Bag https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003329SIM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_A1FM7BMD8W7B7XX26GYM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
For me, the solution is two-fold: a natural rubber mat(I prefer Jade because it’s constructed differently; manduka’s are still slippery even after being worn in) and yoga rosin where my hands and feet go in down dog, which is linked below. I almost never slip unless I’ve been practicing for an hour, and even then I just add more rosin to my mat and I’m good to go.

It’s worth investing in a good mat, one made of natural rubber. A Jade mat is very grippy. You can also use this chalk to keep your hands and feet dry if you don’t like the way a towel feels.

It’s great! When you get it, give it a salt scrub to take the manufacturing film off and you’re good to go. If you find it’s still not quite sticky enough, you can use this to help: AURORAE Yoga Non Slip Rosin Bag https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003329SIM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I use this for longer, more intense practices when I know I’ll sweat a lot.
Jade is AWESOME. I’ve tried manduka, Liforme, and Jade, and Jade wins BY FAR. If you want grippy, you want a natural rubber mat(Jade or manduka). A manduka is closed cell so it will still be a little slippery, whereas a Jade is open cell and grips better. I’ve had my Jade for years and it’s doing great. I use it with the yoga resin linked below(same chalk climbers and gymnasts use) and I never slip.

I love Jade mats. I’ve tried Gaiam, Manduka, Liforme, and Jade is the best. It’s supper groovy and if I do start to slip - sweaty from a longer than usual practice or a hot class - then I use the resin linked below. It’s the same stuff gymnasts and rock climbers use to keep their hands dry and grippy. You could just try the resin first if you like the mat.

I’d say a Jade Harmony plus this resin, which absorbs sweat: AURORAE Yoga Non Slip Rosin Bag https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003329SIM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I had a manduka eko, which I’ve seen recommended here, but it was WAY more slippery than the combo above.
Not in my experience. The best things you can do are get a grippy mat(I like Jades; mandukas use a different manufacturing process that make them a little more slippery), and some gymnast/climbers chalk. It absorbs the sweat and is easy to clean. I use this stuff: AURORAE Yoga Non Slip Rosin Bag https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003329SIM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I had the same problem with my mat and flow too, but one of my instructors suggested using a rosin and that has really helped my slippage. This is the brand I use.
I used to use this one when I was doing hot yoga. It's a compound from trees that is kind of sticky--it's what gymnasts often use to keep grips on things, too.
Try rosin or chalk; it’s the same stuff gymnasts and climbers use to stop slippage. I use this.
