This thingy on amazon might do it It's a standalone USB audio to Bluetooth transmitter. The PS4 should see it the same way it sees the USB dongle for the PlayStation Wireless Headsets.
For docked mode there are bluetooth adapters, some like the Homespot are most know for being able to use it in handheld but it comes with a USB adapter to plug it into one of the USB ports on the dock.
If you only want a bluetooth adapter for just docked mode however, I would recommend the Avantree Leaf Bluetooth USB adapter for only $29 on Amazon. I use this personally because I needed something that worked for the Switch & PS4. Its been working great for me so far, no issues at all & is really simple to use. And its at least $10 cheaper than other bluetooth adapters for the Switch
I ended up getting this: https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Nintendo-Headphones/dp/B01G3J1I5M/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1535046969&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=ps4+bluetooth+headset+dongle&psc=1
And it worked! But i haven't ended up using it thaaat much because there is a sound delay, which is bad bc i play a lot of Rainbow Six Siege. But it's great for other games where sound whoring isnt a requirement.
Edit: i have a separate mic that clips onto my shirt that i have to plug in my controller, so i dont know if the dongle will support a full blown headset. I only made my headphones wireless, not the mic.
Edit2: check the comments of amazon for more info
The specific adapter that is mentioned in that thread has pretty good reviews. Amazon also has a great return policy so if it doesn’t work you could ship it back. But $30 is a bit steep just to get Bluetooth audio IMO. Good luck dude.
Edit: The adapter actually says it supports the PS4 in its item description and image.
On my desktop, I connect my B&W Px through an Avantree Leaf.
My connection is completely stable and range is about 70 meters, through walls, much as you described with your laptop.
I'm not sure if the controllers 3.5mm can output to a speaker set. My guess would be that it probably wouldn't be able to?
If you're okay with using Bluetooth earbuds, I've used this to connect to non-official PlayStation headsets and Bluetooth speakers and it works well.
There's a lot of them out there and I'm not sure of which particular unit, if any, is considered the undisputed king right now. I've been using the Avantree Leaf for a couple of years with no complaints whatsoever.
Dingles are fine. Pci add-in card or small desktop boxes do exist for stronger antennas and/or more features. Whichever way you go, just remember that line of sight does matter for maximum range.
> I plug the headphones in the BTR5 and clip it on myself and then the btr will connect with the bluetooth dongle is that correct?
Yes
Thanks for the articles, didn't know Bluetooth got that specific. Maybe theirs an adapter a 3rd party can develop down the line.
For the PS4 I had this adapter (Avantree Leaf) that worked beautifully with any Bluetooth headphone and was perfect no hiccups, no static in the sound quality nothing. This worked great because it was it's own dedicated device and didn't need to rely on the PS4 integrated Bluetooth. Apparently it works with the PS5 too. After switching to the Xbox this is the one feature I miss the most I absolutely hate having to connect wired earbuds into the controller lol.
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01G3J1I5M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_i_Z44XJ37ZBD794ERADWDT
I have used one of these with a few generations of headphones. They get excellent range and never have connectivity problems. The only catch is that you have to manually switch between headset and headphone mode via the button on the side when you want to switch between calls and music.
The Avantree USB PC/PS4/Switch adapter works perfectly in docked mode. I got it Saturday & it just took a minute or 2 in order to initially figure out how to pair your headphones (definitely make sure to reset your headphones & put them in pair mode & then follow the instructions) to it but then after that it works like a charm.
Its $29 on Amazon right now as well, which is at least $11 cheaper than the Gulikit one & is more versatile in terms of working with more than just the Switch.
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G3J1I5M/?tag=gamesls-20
The extension cable just lets you put it somewhere more optimal and is a stand so it doesn't flop about.
You should just be able to select the output device in your sound settings. I'm not 100% sure how it works on Windows :/ I imagine worst case you can disable the driver for the built-in one if that's possible.
Avantree Leaf Class 1 Long Range USB Bluetooth Audio Transmitter Adapter for PC Laptop Mac PS4 Nintendo Switch, Wireless Audio Dongle for Headphones Speakers Only, Plug and Play, aptX Low Latency https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01G3J1I5M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dvjnFbAFWDXVK
I have been using This Adapter for my ps4 and switch and it connects my airpods and other bluetooth headphones and uses them as headphones/mic. It works great!
I bought this and have been using my Skull Candy wireless earbuds with no problems on my PS4 Pro.https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Nintendo-Headphones/dp/B01G3J1I5M/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=avantree+bluetooth&qid=1565053881&s=gateway&sr=8-4
All I did was insert it into the usb slot and follow the directions and it works great. Can’t tell you if AirPods will work though. Also there isn’t anything you have to plug into the controller.
Edit: The second review on amazon says no for AirPods.
You might want to try this one.
I use it to connect my Bluetooth headphone to my PS4 and it works great. When you say "sync with the video" are you asking about audio lag? If so I haven't had any issues using this dongle.
>PS4 won't be able to use a Bluetooth dongle, it's not fully HID compliant, so it can't install and use any computer equipment. Is there no option in the PS4's menu to connect a Bluetooth device? There was with there PS3, and the PS4 controller still uses bluetooth, so the radio's still built in. I'm gonna take a look on my PS4 here and check...
I'm a little late to the convo, but for PS4 dongles there is one that I know for sure works. I bought this Avantree Leaf USB Bluetooth Adapter off Amazon for $30 so I could use wireless headphones for both my Switch & PS4. Works perfectly fine for me on PS4 as I just plug it into the front USB port, no drivers needed. And then I just have to press the bluetooth buttons on both the adapter & whatever headset I'm trying to pair. It may take a 1-2 min at most for the first time but after that its super easy.
I haven't tested with the Arctis 3 Bluetooth headphones yet (waiting for my next paycheck to pick them up), but my other bluetooth headphones pair up just fine.
Had to do this because Sony tried to lock out everyone from using whatever wireless bluetooth headphones/headsets. Thus forcing people to buy their wireless PS4 ones instead if they want to go wireless. If you didn't want to do that then you had the option of going wired by plugging into the controller. And since I wanted a way to use my wireless bluetooth headphones for the Switch as well I looked for ones that worked for both Switch & PS4.

(One note though for PS4: there's a decorative green semi-cover on the actual adapter/dongle that you have to pry off in order for it to fit in the USB port on the front of the PS4. Otherwise it blocks it from going all the way in.)
The Avantree Leaf has worked really well for me. I saw it recommended on several other threads and picked it up a couple months ago. I have the same Sony headphones too, for reference.
I use my Airpods with this blue tooth adaptor, works on PS4 and Switch, Not xbox one unfortunately https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Nintendo-Headphones/dp/B01G3J1I5M/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1550431474&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=airpods+ps4&dpPl=1&dpID=41VSxMT8deL&ref=plSrch
Saw this mentioned elsewhere: Avantree LONG RANGE Bluetooth USB Adapter for Headphones, Speakers, Driver-Free Wireless Audio Dongle Transmitter, Plug-n-Play, aptX Low Latency, for PC Mac PS4 Nintendo Switch Linux [24M Warranty] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G3J1I5M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_sVt7Ab6Y37ZEQ
This thing (Avantree Bluetooth USB Adapter) says it works with Nintendo Switch, but I imagine I'd also need a second device to plug my headphones up to that would pair with it.
I just bought this low latency adapter and it works really well. It basically takes the bad Windows bluetooth management out of the equation and connects directly to your bluetooth device.
You'll need an audio specific dongle for aptx-LL. For PC I would get a USB transmitter. I have the unit you linked and it's actually pretty good, but transmitters that take digital input like USB or optical have less quality loss b/c they don't have to convert the signal back to digital before transmitting

But this will work. I have one.
this one Been using for a month and it’s amazing with AirPods. Also let’s me use my AirPods flawlessly on windows 10 pc as well for voice which was impossible otherwise.
This one supports aptX Low Latency, which is the best you can get for gaming. Latency is always 40 ms or less, which is imperceptible. Of course your latency will be higher if your headphones don't also support aptX Low Latency.
Hey Guys, I am about to order the Sony 1000xm2 headphones and I really wish to maximize the value of my purchase by making sure I can stream over Bluetooth with the best available codecs supported by the cans. I am looking for a Bluetooth dongle that supports aptx hd, Low latency and possibly Sony's LDAC. A search on Amazon gives this but it only does aptx + LL. My budget is up to 50USD. Thanks
As others said, 3.5 jack on the controller works great.
As for bluetooth, Sony has blocked standard headphones from connecting to the PS4 (shakes fist), but you can use a usb bluetooth adapter as long as it acts as a soundcard. As far as I understand you need a device that tells the ps4 it is a USB headset, not just a "bluetooth adapter". I use this when i don't want a cord: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G3J1I5M?ref=emc_b_5_i
Good that you brought this up. Any idea whether this might work with the switch? I figured this might be the most elegant solution. No need to ever charge it.
I found this on amazon works perfect!
Avantree aptX Low Latency LONG RANGE Bluetooth 4.1 Adapter for PC, Driver-Free Wireless USB Audio Dongle Transmitter for PS4 Windows 10 7 Linux Mac, M https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G3J1I5M?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
Step 1 : HARDWARE SET UP plug the usb dongle into the suppied usb cord and connect both to your Ps4 it will recognize in settings under devices> audio devices > under & input and output both as “usb headset (avantree leaf)”
Step 2: PAIRING APPLE AIRPODS “PAIR” the Avantree dongle to APPLE AIR PODS by first Placing the dongle in “PAIR MODE” by holding the button on the dongle for 2 seconds. Next on your (MAKE SURE APPLE AIRPODS ARE IN THE CASE AND THE LID IS OPEN) press the button on the back of the CASE and hold it until its in “pair mode” while close proximity to the dongle and it should connect automatically.
You will know its connected when the light inside the AIRPOD CASE Turns ORANGE AND the Light on the AVANTREE DONGLE pulsates BLUE.
*note DO NOT Use the playstation bluEtooth set up to find AIRPODS *
**if you have any issues try to make sure you dont have any other audio devices like Bluetooth speakers in discovery mode while pairing*
Step 3: TESTING AUDIO
REMOVE AIRPODS FROM CASE And PLACE THEM IN YOUR EARS. AIRPODS will make a CHIME SOUND in both ears to let you know its they are connected to test the sound ON YOUR PLAYTION 4 controller hold the PS BUTTON FOR THE QUICK MENU Under SOUND DEVICES scroll down to “OUTPUT TO HEAD” and switch it to “ALL AUDIO (this is just to test you DO NOT HAVE TO STAY IN THIS MODE)” if you can hear system Sounds and game sounds you are all set up!
Step 4: VOICE CHAT to voice chat in a party or in game you need to enable “TALK MODE” on the AVANTREE dongleDOUBLE CLICK the button on the side. The light on the dongle should now STAY SOLID WHITE! Doing this will enable the MICROPHONE on the APPLE AIRPODS for voice chatting.
To MUTE voice just DOUBLE TAP APPLE AIRPOD while in your ears (note doing this takes AVANTREE dongle out of “TALK MODE” DOUBLE TAP the button to enable the microphone agin)**
Pressing the side button on the Avantree dongle ONCE .reconnects AIRPODS if disconnected
Any questions feel free to ask em.
As u/ranger_cobb mentioned above, if you want to use non-Playstation headphones with your PS4, you'll need to try a dongle to pair your device. A dongle is basically a USB adapter that plugs into your PS4 and allows you to connect your bluetooth headphones.
Looks like the Avantree Leaf bluetooth adapter has some good reviews (better than other options) and may allow you to connect.
You can find it on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G3J1I5M
Good luck!
We don't Horse around here.

I use a bluetooth adapter to connect my bose headphones to my ps5:
https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Nintendo-Headphones/dp/B01G3J1I5M?th=1
This is by far my preferred way of gaming
Can't help with LDAC, but I use this to make things nice and easy. Supports aptX/aptX-HD.
If you are interested in a wireless/bluetooth option, I have had great success connecting my bluetooth headphones using this: https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Nintendo-Headphones/dp/B01G3J1I5M/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=usb+bluetooth+ps4&qid=1601899443&sr=8-3
It basically makes the PS4 think you are using the official Sony USB headphones, but transmits the signal over Bluetooth 5.0. It is much better sounding than using the connected output in the controller
So I remember someone on reddit recommending these because integrated BT audio on windows 10 pcs aren't great. I haven't purchased them yet
Np here’s the amazon link
Avantree Leaf Class 1 Long Range... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01G3J1I5M?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Will try thanks!
This one? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G3J1I5M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_emlBDbHVTYQH9
I bought this and works perfectly with my airpods. You can change it from just audio to voice chat with just a button. Haven’t had any problems so far.
I have the WH-1000XM2's and bought a bluetooth adapter, works fine for me on my PS4. Link to the Avantree Adapter.
I use this adaptor to connect my Bluetooth Sennheisers to my PS4
Avantree Leaf Long Range USB... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G3J1I5M?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
the wh1000xm3s support aptx, https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Nintendo-Headphones/dp/B01G3J1I5M/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Avantree+Leaf+Class+1+Long+Range+USB+Bluetooth+Audio+Transmitter+Adapter+for+PC+Laptop+Mac+PS4+Nintendo+Switch%2C+Wireless+Audio+Dongle+for+Headphones+Speakers+Only%2C+Plug+and+Play%2C+aptX+Low+Latency+by+Avantree&qid=1561385635&s=electronics&sr=1-1 get this and you have more range and lower latency
Reply
I'll be getting these for my daily commute to work, but I might end up using them with the Rift S occasionally too.

I use this adapter with my ps4. Should work with your Jabra or any other BT headphones.

Meh they are pretty cheap.
For a USB adapter (linux compatible):
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Nintendo-Headphones/dp/B01G3J1I5M
For a device agnostic transmitter (uses a 3.5mm plug so it can be used with a great number of different devices):
https://www.amazon.co.uk/TaoTronics-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Receiver-Wireless-Black/dp/B01J14SOMG
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G3J1I5M?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share one right here will work with the switch but you are gonna need a usb type c to regular usb adapter for when you need to use it in handheld mode
A simple google yielded this result. Another option is to get a more budget DAP that supports APTX and also USB DAC mode.
I've had this USB-A adapter recommended, though you'd have to have an additional A-to-C adapter if you're using the Switch off the dock.
So using this usb transmitter I’ll be able to voice chat on fortnite with whatever Bluetooth headphones I get that has a mic on them?
That kickstarter mentioned some of their competition, namely a Avantree Leaf (the little green driver-free USB dongle with a pairing button, that just looks like a USB Audio to the plugged device).
Amazon link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01G3J1I5M/
At which point I went and looked up a USB-C to USB-A adapter; https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01COOQIKU/
Looks like for around £32 I could get a working setup. However;
Do you know of anyone who's done this before, preferably with a reddit post? :P
Also, any clue to how to fix / fasten it to the Switch?
To follow up, I think I found a device that does this at long last.
https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Headphones-Driver-Free-Transmitter-Plug-n-Play/dp/B01G3J1I5M
What if I want my Bluetooth headphones to be amplified?
Pretty ignorant and still trying to figure all of this out and there doesn't seem to be a clear cut answer online.
How might I go about utilizing a headphone amp while still being wirelessly attached to my desktop? Apt-X LL is a requirement.
I'm listening through a pair of Beoplay H9s and I currently have one of these and one of these. Is it as easy as hooking up the former downstream from a headphone amp?
Would love some advice and/or product recs. Thanks!

Looks like this cheaper one could work?
An aptX Bluetooth dongle should solve that. I use this one.
https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Driver-free-Headphones/dp/B01G3J1I5M
I've used both of those before. Be warned, though, you will not benefit from the low latency if your H7 doesn't also support aptx low latency.
